I regularly purchase turkey from the Babbs deli. I always get the turkey shaved, falling apart. One woman has now waited on me twice and brings the turkey thinly sliced and not shaved. She has done this twice and simply stated that she cannot get it any thinner, while everyone else who has ever waited on me seems to manage just fine. She then proceeds to berate me, I assume to hide her incompetence or laziness. Overall, Babbs deli staff does a good job, except for this one person. She needs to find another position within the company, maybe janatorial. read more

Babbs is not a nice place to shop. The food in the hot food area isn't kept to a safe temperature, and every time I have gone in there, some employee or another nearly runs me over. The prices are also nothing to brag about. We have to drive to Bloomington or another city to do most of our shopping. read more

I went to babes today sun may 19 2019 when ever I shop at this store I alway use my calculator my calculator was right I got up to the register and checked out I got home and looked at my receipt the idiot which her name is Rebecca she had over charged me for pizzas they was 2/10.00 She charged me 5.00 for one and 6.50 and I called the manager and he tried to twist my words and by the way he was the same manager was putting the moves on me and he was married well by his actions the cashier Forgot to ring my meat up and my pop I got free meat and pop and I call Rob babbs bobble head the only thing he does is raise the prices and hires Incompetent idiots to work there I wouldn't recommen this store to my Worst enemies read more

I worked here when I was growing up. The managers are great and the owners go out of their way to contribute to the community! You get the feel of a small town grocery as soon as you walk in. The only downfall is that the store isn't super big so they dont have extra frills or options. read more

We picked up snacks at Bapps and asked the deli to slice a wrapped salami. They seemed surprised but accomodated us. Everyone was very nice and the selection was decent. As in most small town groceries with little competion and buying power, prices were more that we were used to. The store was very clean and unlike our local choices, they had plenty of checkers available - no waiting! read more

Great supermarket! They have the best chicken I have ever eaten! Friendly staff and excellent location

I have to say this is a pathetic excuse for a grocery store. The reason I say this is, my wife and I were recently in the store, as we used shop here rather regularly. The recent visit for us was for some pre cooked chicken. Well let's just say it was undercooked and raw in the middle to where there was blood coming out from the inside. So, upon calling the store we were told to come down for a refund or replacement. That's where it went South real fast. Not only did the manager of the deli lie about coming down for a refund or replacement, she went as far as to insult us for coming down. She also chose to make a scene, she also one upped herself by cussing at me and my wife. I guess that's the thanks you get for shopping at babbs SuperValu. I have to also say the prices are well over the average stores. I have to say I won't shop here for anything again. Another fun thing they do is check your money all the time for counterfeit bills. I have had nothing but bad experiences with Babb's Supervalu in Spencer, IN. For instance, I bought a jar of peanut butter a couple months back and realized when I got home that it had expired 4 months prior... I called the store, brought it back then proceeded to be called a liar by the "manager", that I hadn't bought it that day. And this isn't the first time have gotten expired food from there, however the peanut butter was the longest amount of time a product had been expired that I didn't catch. Now, I know to check dates before I toss it in the cart! I wish Spencer had other options that weren't owned by Rob Babbs. Save-A-Lot is also owned by him and is not any better... : / read more

Employees are friendly and helpful; store is always well stocked; very good deli, produce and meat departments

Babbs is a great member of the Spencer/Owen County community. The owner and all of the workers are pleasant and eager to help in any way they can. The store has a wide variety of general and specialty items, especially considering its modest size. I live in a larger city with many grocery choices, but I prefer buying the majority of my groceries at Babbs on my weekends in the area. It is a relief to not have to search an enormous store to find something, plus the weekly sales make it possible to stay on a budget. read more
