Having a Kroger connected grocery store where we used to live, this was a pretty easy transition. The selection is mostly what we had in the past, with a few improvements. We enjoy a wider variety of locally-sourced bread, but are slightly disappointed by the meat selections. Overall, service is friendly, and the store is well-kept. They do vary a bit in Bloomington, depending on which location, but all seem to be consistent in most ways. read more

I strongly prefer to go through a checkout. Sometimes they quit doing checkouts at 7, sometimes at 8, usually at 9. I try to go before then but I can't always, and food is a necessity. They are often very rude and unhelpful if I have to go through self-checkout. I am thankful for the times they are courteous and helpful. I am older, and sometimes when it is later I am hungry, and tired, and I don't think I, or anyone, should have to do checkout. I have started to go to Walmart more as they nearly always have checkout staffed with helpful and courteous people but there is only one store and it is not convenient for me. read more

Love this location! They have a wide range of products and staff is extremely nice. Love the cheese shop and how knowledgeable the staff are. Noticed today they have a park bench in the middle of the store against an aisle. Love this for those that have a hard time getting around, bravo Kroger! read more

Their supply chains are broken, their prices raised randomly. Their digital deals tracks all users. They run out of common stuff. Their cashiers can barely keep up because there's not enough of them. This used to be sort of a flagship store, but their competition, Fresh Tyme Market and Aldi are starting to hurt them. Their outages are weird. This is all happening during a store remodel as well. It's highly chaotic. There are some items that beat anyone in price, but now availability is iffy. Worse, their huge marketing efforts look frail. Kroger tried to stomp out the competition in Bloomington through carefully thought through maneuvers and they still dominate Bloomington. Now their edges are starting to crumble, IMHO. There are eight other grocers nearby. Try one. read more

I love Kroger. It always has everything I need and is easy to navigate. The prices are reasonable and they are usually in stock of what I need. The other Bloomington locations have larger selection, but this one is convenient. read more

I'm sorry, Kroger- I wanted to like you. You're so conveniently located (the nearest grocery store to my house by a long shot). I've been a Kroger regular before in other towns. I've got your Preferred Customer card. Some of your employees are nice and helpful- this is what boosted this rating to two stars, rather than the one star I'm so tempted to give.. But, I just can't get over the multiple bad experiences that I have had with rude employees. It is unacceptable to have the checker roll their eyes at me for asking a question. It is unacceptable to have the checker sigh loudly at me for needing to look in my purse for my Kroger card. It is unacceptable for me to receive a prescription from your pharmacy with the wrong name on it and then be treated with an attitude like it was my fault that it says Sheryl instead of Sarah (and left to wait for 20 minutes at the outside window until finally a kinder employee asks if I've been helped and discovers that the original grumpy person had just decided to ignore dealing with changing the name and do nothing). Please, Kroger, if there are employees there with issues, either retrain them, put them behind the scenes at your store rather than up with customers, or if they don't change, replace them. read more

I love the Seminary Square Kroger, and I prefer it to all other grocery stores in the entire town. The layout is easy to remember, and the selection is very diverse. Sure, they may not have everything, but they aren't Amazon. It's a perfect place to get what you need for weekly groceries and/or a meal. Good job, Kroger! Used to have a sad nick name but now this store is terrific. I call it KroMeistah because it really has the goods. Not too large, so I can pop in and out if I need to. It has a good selection of most things and I do most of my weekly marketing here. read more

This store is organized very haphazardly and has an air of depression seeping throughout the aisles. It has improved quite substantially over the last five years, but something about it is just not pleasant. I usually can't find what I want, or it takes me a while because it's organized differently (and in a much more confusing way) than Kroger East. Selection is just ok. Their cooked foods are also not as good as Kroger East. But it's convenient and it's ok a few times a year if you're in a pinch. read more

If Goldilocks had to choose a Kroger in Bloomington, it would be this one because it is juuuuuuust right! I come here all the dang time! It isn't too big like the one on College Mall road, or too small either. It's perfect. They have everything you need and you don't have to walk a football field's length to get it. I'm here to buy food, not play a game of Where's Waldo! Haha. Anyways. The staff here is A+! Today I had a product ring up at the wrong price and they fixed it so fast I couldn't even believe it! i am giving this kroger 5 stars for all the great stories. this place has a reputation as "dirty kroger" and it lives up to it's name. when i happen to be in the area, i do go there from time to time just to say i have been to "dirty kroger" this place frequently has dirty floors and just a run-down 2nd rate feel to it unlike the nearby regular kroger i usually go to. i hope they never change as the 2nd rate feel to this place is it's character and charm. i hear it is a favorite for homeless people who like to get cough syrup and then proceed to go to the restrooms and chug the syrup and get loaded at the "dirty kroger" bless the dirty kroger!!!!!! read more

I love this Kroger! Yesterday I forgot my wallet and only had some change in my car and was about to put an item back when the cashier saved the day. Layla, the cashier, informed me of a program they have in which they will occasionally do something to right a wrong or do someone a favor, then she said my cheese was in the house! It was such a wonderful moment in a really bad day and I so greatly appreciated this act of kindness. Five big stars for you, Kroger, five stars! read more

FLORAL DEPT: custom floral arrangements Does custom floral arrangements with the discount flowers - brought in a picture & my own silverplate container After looking at some of the reviews of florists in town, I called & spoke to a really helpful young man in the floral dept at Kroger who said he would be happy to help design the arrangement I wanted. I came in the next morning when he was working & we picked some long-lasting flowers. I brought in a photo from the eddieross blog, we picked some flowers from the large selection of flowers that had been marked down, talked about the colors a bit & picked it up after 1pm. He put floral foam in my silverplate bowl, even polished it a bit. It looked great & was only $40ish - at a floral shop it would have been $60 - 70 or more. And it had a lot of carnations so it lasted forever. Very happy with the custom service. read more

I absolutely LOVE this Kroger. It is so easy to get in and out. The staff are ALWAYS friendly. I love the fact that you can listen to live music on Friday nights. Not that I sit there and hang out, but it is nice to listen to while your shopping. I think their Kroger Plus program is something to brag about. This is a nice store with a great selection where I have been happy to do my shopping many times, but yesterday one of the cashiers said "Merry Christmas" to me so aggressively as I checked out that it honestly felt like she was trying to insult me. I don't celebrate Christmas, even though I was raised Christian and am the direct descendant of an American Revolutionary soldier. Insisting on telling a person to celebrate something they don't isn't patriotic or kind - it's just rude and inconsiderate and reflects poorly on your company. I won't be back. You may call it political correctness, I call it human decency and curiosity about my fellow humans - which is what I learned in church growing up, not this "be like me or I'll whine that I'm oppressed" garbage. read more

This store is a mess. Poorly stocked no matter when you go there. Spoke with the manager today and she offered no apology except to say how many employee hours she is short of. A very surly person who said sarcastically to me at the end of our conversation, "have a nice day." Take your grocery dollars to another company. Never in my life have I experienced a grocery store that is so consistently out of so many things. For example, tonight they were out of the tea I wanted, the baking powder I wanted, and both 1% and whole milk. I got one of the last three cartons of regular eggs. Every time I'm there, I complain to a manager about their ordering incompetence, but nothing ever changes. And good luck if you ever want to find any food not common in Indiana. The place is so small that they don't have room to stock any remotely niche item. Tonight I hoped against hope that I might find chayotes, a pretty ordinary squash from Mexico that many grocery stores carry. Nope. The kid stocking hadn't even heard of them. And this doesn't even address the time that I tried to buy a six-pack of beer but couldn't, because even though it was on the shelf, they didn't have a barcode for it in the system. Literally every time I go to this place, they drop the ball in a new way. Such consistent incompetence can only be a management problem. read more

This Kroger likes to throw out all the poor people that shop here. I used to shop at this Kroger and they threw me out just because I took a cart from them to take to wendys. There is a reason why this place is called Kroghetto. I ordered a cake with a custom message, that said "I'm" on it, and they wrote "I?m" on the cake. When I showed them proof that I had written it correctly and they had messed it up, they said that they would fix it, but scrapped off the icing and left part of the "?" in place of the apostrophe. It looked absolutely terrible so I spoke with a manager who asked me what I wanted her to do about it in an extremely rude and unhelpful tone. She then proceeded to tell me that there were no cake decorators on staff and she refused to offer me any discount for a cake that looked absolutely awful. I don't understand how someone who messed up an order for a paying customer can act so rude and disrespectful. I am so disappointed with the incompetency and lack of customer service this place offered me. I will definitely not be coming back. If you go here, expect to be treated with the utmost disrespect one can treat you with. read more

I have been shopping at Kroger's on College for 20 years and always enjoyed their service. But since the recent renovation, my satisfaction has ballooned. There is no other place of business that I attend where the employees are consistently so helpful and cheerful. Also, in the past I very rarely used coupons, but the policy of mailing me coupons for products that I am known to use is most remarkable. Lastly, at the end of my last visit, one of the employees came over to my cart and exclaimed, "I'm going to give you something free...you guys come here all of the time"! (Thanks Jaimie) Who else does that? Count me as a big fan. read more
