The employees, need a class on how to be kinder to people. I've had problems there many times.

Here I am. 7 years later, writing another review about Wal Mart. Big box store. I feel like it should just "be" and that should be that, but there is genuinely a lot of good to say. I am an online shopper, and I do curbside pickup. I'm also currently a Walmart+ member. Walking around a store that large is just too much for me these days. I'll start off with the only two negative points, and they aren't enough for me to knock off a star. 1 - If you use the delivery option for groceries, you'll be expected to tip because a third party usually delivers those. For other simple things, if you are a Walmart+ member, you can get same day or next day delivery of some things, which is awesome. 2 - Out of stocks. Walmart is the boss when it comes to store brand. Kroger brand is usually trash, and if it's not trash, it's still second to Wal Mart brand. I have come to really enjoy their breakfast sandwiches. Unfortunately, everyone else has also, so when I order they are usually out of stock. OK. Now on to the rest! Again, this is basing it as an online shopper. The online shopping is pretty good, especially as a Walmart+ customer. I can usually get same day pickup if I order early. The system isn't always accurate on what's in stock, but it's pretty good. If you keep your phone handy, you can accept or reject substitutions. I recommend you keep an eye out, because they often cost more, and sometimes the option they choose is too different. The folks who work this are always SO friendly. It is so nice when I get to interact with them! They offer a bag free option for curbside!!! This is a HUGE deal. When I ordered from Kroger, I couldn't even get them to use paper bags. With Wal Mart, I can bring shopping bags or boxes and just have everything put in there. Less plastic, less pollution! I love that they do that!! Returns and refunds are SO easy. If you pickup your groceries and something is damaged or about to expire, you just let them know in the app. If an item is damaged or something you don't need, you can start the return process and also do that curbside. I got a cereal storage container that was absolute garbage. I started a return, and the person who handled it was so friendly! With a store this large, ordering online and picking up is such a help. If you do try the Walmart+, there is a nice benefit of choosing between Peacock and Paramount, but don't expect it to replace Amazon. I have looked for a number of oddball items on the Walmart website only to give up and order it from Amazon. If you are conveniently located, give their online ordering a try. If you go online and order side by side with Kroger, you'll probably notice the savings add up quickly. The last time I did, it didn't take me long to have a $10 difference. If there was zero, I'd have picked that. I went to their auto service center. They're total bunglers. Tried to do a serious upsell on simple tire mounting. Then they struggled to deliver a quote on a diesel oil change. Still worse, I was told I was next in line and the current customer was doing a simple tire rotation. Nearly an hour and a half later, it still wasn't in a bay, even though all but one were empty. Adding to the madness was that they wanted to charge me sales tax on what was a strictly labor endeavor. This is pretty dubious, IMHO. I wandered the store, looking at prices that had risen mightily, chocked full of IU pomp that is meaningless to most who shop at that location. So, high prices, incorrect prices, inability to do simple quotes, dubious charges, upsell, incorrectly estimating labor loads and therefore wasting my time all add up to: Don't go here. read more

Last year or so, Bloomington IN employees here have become quarrelsome, confrontational, even aggressive vrs customer service oriented. Def not all, but way, way too many. 6/13/26 had a customer service desk employee challenge me to a fist fight at the return desk for asking to see the store manager about the lack of a new digital price tag on a product this last Saturday. Was talking to a female mngr (directly ask her if she was a mngr, she said: YES), asking to see the store manager and he (an associate who works the customer service desk, has for years) jumped in and became irrational, all on camera. They (a front-end floor mngr & associate) blamed the vendors for the tag not being there, then me for bringing it to their attn, just wanting the product tagged so other customers weren't caused difficulties by it like I experienced as a result. Isn't it their responsibility to tag products, not vendors or customers? But I keep running into this here. Deflection vrs just owning an obvious employee mistake and fixing it? Nov 2025, electronics associate ringing up 2 phones became argumentative looking me right in the face exclaiming my cell phone provider, wasn't a real cell phone provider because I wouldn't take out AT & T with new phones. Even though I had my provider for 5 years, unlimited text and phone time, 2 phones for $50 a month and not one dropped text, call or bad connection in 5 years between here and Texas weekly for extended conversations. Same female front end mngr at service desk walked up to my wife and I few min prior to incident above in women's clothing while we were conversing and ask: "Can I help you two with something?" Is that being helpful or an accusation! I have an autoimmune disorder and have been forced to wear nitrile gloves if I leave the house for 30+ years now or my immune system eats my hands to get to ragweed from air on the surface of my skin. She kept looking me up and down, coming back to my gloves. Is that profiling a disabled person? Have shopped at Blmgtn Walmart since it was in Rural King's old bldg, day it opened. Wore gloves since 1992! Never had anyone on the floor go out of their way to make wearing these gloves at Walmart, an offense worth COMING AT ME and the wife out of the blue while trying to relax and browse while talking as a couple, minding our own buisness. Between that, and then her blaming vendors and myself for being ridiculous about missing price tags a few minutes later at the registers, I was an unhappy customer. Then I go to her at customer service desk after taking my wife out to the car and returning to customer service desk to ask for the store mngr to find out she has been talking to her male associate at the desk about me negatively. How do I know this for certain? He knew what she had been saying to me without her or myself giving any information to him in our dialogue at the desk. He jumped in without being looked at or ask a thing from me, escalating the whole thing until he cursed me with 2 F-U's in a row, and said: You wanna go, let's go, and walked around counter running his mouth the whole way. After refusing his throw down proposal, he demanded I leave his area or he would call security. Told him, do it because a young man (team leader) emerged and same female mngr as he was threatening me with security. Told young man the saga, he instantly admitted it was thier mistake, said it again, "Def our mistake." I shook his hand, thanked him, said that was all I wanted and left. Called Walmart Ethics number and 1-800 Walmart and turned in whole incident at both ends, adding another hour+ to this mess after leaving the store. Point: Walmart is there for us, the customers. Many employees are using what boils down to intimidation, confrontation/escalation, talking down (your stupid if you don't agree), deflection tactics etc, to back customers down. It's not their store, it's not there for employees but for us, the customers. While whatever is going on there is being allowed as it is growing in its brazenness, report bad behavior to Corporate. The more reports they receive, they will have to take this most seriously as a systemic problem they will have to lop it off at the root. Don't be quiet, stop shopping there, be bullied into submission. Store is there for YOU, not the employees. You can file reports anonymously with Walmart Corp or give them your name. Ethics ends of Walmart, same. They prefer you call Corp 1-800 number first. Don't let them run you out of the store. STAND, make noise with Corporate. Tell them your drama if a Bloomington Walmart employee gives you a bad outing for no legit reason. If you walk away, stop shopping there etc, nasty people win & you lose! Don't do that, stand together, make noise, burn the Walmart Corp customer service line up with as many crazy experiences as employees wish to dish out until Corp has to investigate the entire store as a problem. You must wear your face masks, and social distancing is a must. I NEVER shop at Walmart, but I was told that they had Lysol disinfectant wipes, so I came here with my husband. The store is clean, friendly employees, and self check out was packed, but that was ok. Thank you Walmart. In Miami, and Atlanta, we can't locate any. But I'm happy I took a chance and came when someone said you all had some. :-) read more

What does "emergency" mean? Connotation and denotation both agree on that. Yet this Walmart is one of the many Walmarts I read about online, that dont believe in carrying "emergency" contraceptives. Nothing. No Plan B, no generics. This is outrageous. After I read that, I immediately walked to the WM to investigate for myself, on 2 different shifts. I interrogated the pharmacists. I complained at customer service." I asked if the chief pharmacist was religious. They insisted "this is a college town. It's the college kids fault we've been out for 2 weeks." TWO WEEKS?! So the Bloomington WM has a different definition of emergency than everyone else on the planet. They then all swore it's "the truck's fault" Coincidentally, I drive a truck, so i know that's False; I have no control over what I deliver, I just drive. Also, I used to be in management and I'd place orders for things that we needed to have on hand for "emergencies" all the time,, literally every day,, so that's also False. This is outrageous. I am no longer there, I am a truck driver, but everyone in the Bloomington area should pop into WM and request Plan B and see how long it takes to get it back on the shelf. We waited for an hour to pick up an order. Walmart was behind the eight ball with a crashed computer, low or no inventory and a number of employees calling in sick. We stopped at Sam's Club right before our visit to Walmart. The managerial staff at Walmart needs to learn from Sam's Club. read more

When Gayle and I come to visit family in Bloomington, one of the last things we want to do is hang out at Walmart. This Walmart is located about halfway between our usual hotel (Homewood Suites) and the family residence and it has been handy a couple times when we needed something like a phone charge cord or assorted toiletries. The worst delivery service and experience ever. This department needs a total overhaul from management to staff to delivery service. I was a Walmart + member, however this stores appalling service is the reason I promptly canceled my membership. I could never get a timely delivery if I could get a delivery at all. Customer service from representatives to supervisors were enept at rectifying the issues. Often the store would simply hangup on customer service. The refund process was also far from efficient. Though promises to refund in minutes or hours would take days and still not refund total amount. So not only do we not have any order delivery (food or essentials), we also get the added bonus of paying for this privilege. Its time to restructure this department from the ground up. Masks are supposed to be mandatory but I see lots of people that don't ware on. I called and spoke to a manager. She told me that they can't make people ware a mask. All they can do is log it but I also don't see that they are loving anything. I will not return to this store and no one else should either. The employees are awesome but the franchise is to blame. I chose to now go to Kroger's or Aldi. I have not see non mask waters any ware else but Walmart! They don't deserve our business because they don't care for our health. read more

After a flat tire on I-69 during a 3 hour road trip- I stopped in at the closest Walmart to have a new tire put on. The staff at the desk were so friendly. (He was also very patient with other guest who came to the counter) The techs checked out the flat tire to see if they could repair it first. I did not ask them to do this and I thought that was so nice of them. They were trying to save me $60. (Repair vs. replace) They thought that they could repair it but once they got in and fully checked out the tire, they came to the conclusion that it was too damaged on the inside. So thankful for their knowledge and caring customer service. It was an expense that was unplanned but I would have paid more if I had to. They have a great crew in the tire center. It wasn't just the service they provided to us but to everyone they came face to face with. All of the staff who worked back there around 2pm on 8/27 deserve recognition! Today I got a nail in my tire. What a bummer to find that out. But I tell you what. A guy name Steve who is the manger took good care of me fast. Went in, informed him what was wrong and they new exactly what needed to be done. And their waiting lobby. Well they have a tv and couch and more. Here is a photo to show you the comfort you will get while you wait on your car. Sure somtimes it may be 1 hour or even 2 hours. But be prepared for that. I haven't had any problems with this Walmart. They have tons of groceries, clothes, household products and have a Tire and Lube Center. They also have a pharmacy we use that has a drive thru. There isn't anything special about this Walmart but, they provide appropriate customer service and a decent shopping experience. They are located conveniently on 2nd street near several apartments, Meineke, Steak n' Shake, Aldi and they have a Subway inside. The store does keep its departments located in the same area and can be pretty predictable with its usual stock. They do provide quite a bit for each major holiday and they are in tune with the needs when IU college students are moving in. read more

It's a good-sized Walmart, which I like. My biggest confusion/complaint is that when I order good for pickup and they say they're out of stock, I can almost always walk into the store and find those items myself. I don't blame the employees who have to shop for these. I blame the lack of better updates from Walmart on their in-stock and out-of-stock items. They should find a better way to update. read more

I was at the auto center for an oil change. I had a long wait, but I think that should be expected when taking your car to Walmart. The manager John is extremely unprofessional and has poor customer service. I waited for my car to be serviced for about 2 hours and, during this time, the cashier associate called for help from John over the intercom multiple times with no response throughout my entire 2 hour wait. When he finally showed up was when I was ready to being checked out. All he had to do was override a transaction for a return that took a few seconds. After that, he ended up checking me out too; he didn't say anything to me throughout that process and walked away from the auto center desk without saying anything to anyone. Extremely odd behavior for a manager. Employees should be able to count on their supervisors for help when they need it, and he was noticeably absent. read more

Ok--given that everyone hates Walmart and they still seem to make billions because they price stuff so cheap, I still give this place a one. The parking lot is an awful nightmare with magic deathly one-ways that never have enough signage. I get how to miss the occasional pedestrian (when so inclined to be nice), but a head-on car is one not easy to dodge. Then you get to the acres of undecorated earth-tone-tastic agony that people call "grocery shopping." The produce sucks...just dont get it. The boxed and canned goods are cheaper than anywhere which is why people go. Yes...they also "have everything" from photographers to haircuts to vacation packages to oil changes to diapers....so the convenience is there. This is a typical Walmart Supercenter...loads of stuff...messy shelves...huge store...hard to find staff for answers...but inventory of just about anything you might be looking for at a decent price. This store doesn't have the usual old peeps at the front greeting you as you enter, but that's okay...I came here for stuff I can't get elsewhere and at a cheap price. If you follow politics there is always a great clamor for stuff made in the USA...and I am all for it. But go in to a Walmart...this one or others...and you will find thousands of people who shop by price...and that usually means stuff made in China...sometimes cheap stuff and sometimes quality stuff but always at a lower price point. I like Walmarts...they serve a purpose. They have product...they have nice prices...and a lot of the stores have a gas station out front with low prices. Give this one a try...just recognize what you signed up for. read more

This is coming from someone who usually really likes going to Walmart: This Walmart is NASTY. Ice cream in the toy aisle. Salt spilled across the floor in the beauty department. Numerous things taken out of their packaging and tossed back on the shelves. Empty wrappers thrown onto shelves and the floor. Especially during the pandemic, I don't understand why this store is left in such a dirty state of disarray. By the look of other reviews, it sounds like this has been the norm for years. I usually stop in here to pick up household essentials like toilet paper and paper towels. They usually don't have large lines and I love the large self check-out area. Today a nice associate (nick) helped me locate a price, he didn't have a scanner on him but looked it up on his phone. I thought that was very nice, he could have easily said he couldn't check. This is the worst store I have ever seen in my 22 year career in retail. There are no cleanliness standards. The shelves have random products put in random places or just tossed on the floor. Employees just stand around and talk to each other rather than work or help people. Product stocked 6 inches off of shelf that pose safety hazard to customers. The floors are always sticky. Self checkout is only card due to a some coin shortage that is not real. They only have 2 checkstands going. The whole management staff needs to be fired along with most of the employees read more

I don't understand why Walmart builds their stores with a dozen chaiers lanes only to man one or 2 max - even on a Sunday making lines that extend for dozens of people in every direction. Pickup: no issues with items or anything like that, but if the parking spot sign has a number to call, it would be nice if someone picked up the phone. We had to bang on the door to get service. Again disappointed with Wal-Mart. This time in the electronics. Needed help getting something out of a display case and stood there at the desk waiting. All but one man was busy, but he was struggling with dragging himself away from a cell phone. Was it his? I don't know. Today I had a great experience at this Bloomington Walmart location! I had to leave suddenly due to a medical emergency and make a trip to the doctor. I didn't have time to check out but didn't want to just give up all that time spent either. The CSMs Chris and Lisa and the door man were super helpful making sure my groceries were secured up front and were waiting on my husband to pick up after work. They also went above and beyond helping him price match all the items as I had brought several ads! They really went a long way to provide outstanding customer service and I truly hope they received the recognition they deserve! Thanks guys! read more

For god's sake, don't ever go here. The customer service makes Kmart seem like paradise.

This is a awful store, I try to not visit because of several factors. No knowledgeable staff,it is not clean, the selection of fresh produce is poor at best. Personally rather spend more to shop in clean well stocked store with happy empolyees. read more
