Call themselves a "Farmers Market" is over the top. They do have some deals in fresh product, but (please excuse this) you'll need to cherry pick their loss leaders. They run deals on things like cheese. Some of the cheese deals are, well, cheesy-- there's little flavor to their low-priced meunster or cheddars. The other prices are higher than supermarkets, and selection is limited. The words "organic" and "natural" merit a 70% price increase, and despite to claims of being a healthfood store, there's lots of stuff that's not very good for you. Inconsistent vendor labeling is part of the problem. Pricing is also very inconsistent. To get good value, one needs to read their weekly ads carefully, and decide whether it's worth a trip. Some stores of this genre have special notoriety for one particular thing or another as a drawing card, and that drawing card is consistent. Trader Joe's comes to mind. Here, it's random and frustrating. There are no areas of specialty that make it worth a habitual trip. The staff is friendly enough, although they seem a bit chummy-- they're erstwhile and helpful. I want to rate them higher, but they're inconsistent and it irks me to spend time to explore their ads to make a trip worthwhile. Tempus pecunia est, and they're not making it worth my time consistently-- I end up just shopping their loss leaders. Maybe they'll get the clue that consistency counts. Maybe not. read more

I haven't been here a lot since they opened, but I make it a point to pop in here once in a while. I'm now noticing a few things I didn't before. - Baked goods - A number of pre-packaged items they carry are exactly the same as what you get at Lucky's. They're good, but the same thing. I don't know about the cookies I got, but they are DELICIOUS! They also have great packaged bagels. They are not pre cut, but it's worth the extra time. Selection - Their selection is still very good, but in some areas where there are space limits, you had better be prepared to pay a premium price for a premium product. They have a great selection of Boar's Head products, which hasn't existed in town in any real way since Mr. D's. Totally worth the price. Other areas are good also, and I'm happy to see the variety of brands they carry. Price - For some of the crossover items you could get elsewhere, their prices really aren't much more. I'd rather get what I can here than trek all around some huge box. The only real issue I have is their reliance on plastic bags. The cashier didn't offer paper bag option, and didn't ask if I had my own. Lucky's game is strong there. Paper bags and reusable bags hold a lot more than plastic. If Fresh Thyme made this a priority, that would be very impressive. Definitely going to be a repeat customer, and I hope the owner of that lot examines how the parking lot works. Marsh never had enough cars there to back things up, but a busy day at Fresh Thyme can be a challenge. read more

Checked out the soft opening and was really impressed with what Fresh Thyme did to what used to be a dark and depressing Marsh into a bright and "fresh" space. Great prices and selection, I will probably stop by whenever I am on this side of town to see if they continue to impress. Love the app with coupons that they offer. read more

Fresh Thyme hasn't been open long, but I'm already impressed! Employees are very friendly and helpful. I asked a question and the employee was very warm and even walked with me to the place to show me. When he left, he encouraged me to come get him if I had any other questions. I thought it was very nice! A great selection of organic/natural foods as well as regular produce. Everything looks fresh and orderly. I hate seeing the produce looking old or moldy - not here, everything looks great and well stocked. I was so surprised at the size of their selection! Lots of cheeses, meat products and dairy goods. I saw a lot of brands that I have never seen before. I enjoyed their juice from their juice bar. Prices are hit and miss - some things are very fairly priced while others you can find cheaper elsewhere. read more

I love our Fresh Thyme! We have always received helpful service and found the kinds of foods we like best here. One of my favorite coffees, Morning Jolt from JavAroma in Mitchell, IN, is sold here. We also love the deli chicken and mesquite turkey. A nice woman in in the deli suggested we get a block of cheese from the separate refrigerated cheese display and bring it to her to slice for a better price on cheese. The Colby Jack that we get out of the separate display is so soft, creamy and delicious! I also love their brand of bottled green tea in Mediterranean Mint! Heavenly!! It has almost a slight vanilla taste although there is none in it. The supplement and vitamin area should have almost anything you need in that department. read more

I do miss Lucky's and this is no Lucky's! The west store has some wonderful people working there. They really try to keep you happy but are restricted by management. The management team seems to have their head buried in the sand. They have no clue what goes on in the day to day management. They don't get sale items in and on shelves until Thursday and Friday. Not sure why but is rather frustrating. West side produce is not as fresh as east side. West side plays games in the deli, when you place your order watch the dates. Sometimes they will give you product that was sliced 3 days before. Maybe it's just me but when you pay for a premium product one would expect fresh sliced product. So many times products are miss priced. You must check your receipt constantly. I have no desire to return to the west side. read more

Living on the West Side of Bloomington, I am so glad to finally have a great produce and organic store like Fresh Thyme! In the 3 or 4 weeks they have opened we have only gone to Kroger once and it was a day we needed household items not carried at Fresh Thyme. It's also much easier to get in and out of than Kroger's parking lot. I am very pleased with the assortment of meats, ecstatic by the huge cheese selection, and definitely like the variety of produce. We've also been a fan of the salad bar as a new regular routine. The salad bar has a huge selection and a big olive and speciality selection too. The staff is friendly and they always seem to have a great stock of items so far. The only thing that keeps Fresh Thyme from being a 5 star in my opinion has been 2 or 3 times when the produce didn't seem as fresh as I would imagine it should be or would hoped it to be and they could benefit from an extra register or two. However, I come 3 or 4 times a week and love it! I hope they continue to be successful in Btown. read more

First impression: ehh. Disclaimer: Lucky's loyalist here. Fresh Thyme isn't Lucky's. It's also not Kroger/Marsh. It's kind of like a weird relative of the two. I think that's why my first impression is so 'whatever'. I'm really confused what this store is trying to be. I feel like it's trying to attract a wide ranging crowd by not settling on one direction for the store. Don't get me wrong, it's close, it's convenient. I will shop there. The in house baked pizza we got was really, really good. I will be interested to see how this store evolves into what Bloomington wants. I have been shopping here since they opened, I was there opening day! I love that they have a great selection of vegan foods and a large wellness section. I was definitely expecting a larger produce section and/or lower prices. I don't really notice a difference from other local markets. We love their store brand Almond milk and cereals. I do stop in there more than say kroger these days, though i think a part of it is because its smaller and easier to run in and out of. I do like having it so close to home. read more

Fresh Thyme has the best produce and butcher counter in town. The produce is always well stocked, fresh, and fairly priced. The staff at the butcher counter are helpful and friendly. They make all kinds of delicious sausages in house. They often have the best price on chicken in town. read more

Eh. I was pretty excited for Fresh Thyme to open since it's closer to home than Lucky's, but after visiting twice I'm pretty underwhelmed. They don't carry a lot of the brands I prefer, but honestly I think that will change as they shape to the Bloomington clientele. I just feel like they don't know exactly what they want to be--it's a weird hybrid of Kroger and Lucky's...not quite health food all the way, but not quite standard only fare. They always have specials that are equals to or better than found in other stores. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They all seem to be very knowledgeable and enjoy their jobs. Fresh Thyme is super cool and I'm so happy it's here! All kinds of delicious produce (lots of it set up, unsurprisingly, in a farmers market fashion where you can pick items individually), yummy breads (try the raisin bread! Deeelish), cheeses, sushi, more milks than you can even imagine and more. If you're into cold brew they have the good stuff here. You'll pay for it price wise, but I wouldn't say it's unfairly priced. Fresh Thyme reminds me a lot of Lucky's but I think I like this one better (so far). More options in every category, way more convenient to Aldi's and Sam's. You do need to look at prices since depending on what you pick, you could end up with a very cheap bill or a pretty expensive one. So far I'm mostly shopping the sales and I've been happy. Oh by the way - their eggplant parmesan in the prepared meals area - BUY THIS!!!! So good. You won't regret it. And they have super cute little shopping carts for your tinies and stickers too. Everyone is super friendly so far and the lines don't take long to get through. I'm definitely adding this to my regular rotation, though I'll still keep Aldi as my primary just because it's so dang cheap. FT will be where I go for my special things for the week. I therefore ask folks in the meat department (nicely, if I do say so myself) at new stores about that. At Fresh Thyme I got quizzical looks from the first person behind the meat counter that I asked, was handed off to a second equally clueless person, and finally to someone they called the boss.
