Let me just say- we will 100% be back! The owner, Bruce, was super personable and stood around chatting with us and our friends for probably an hour. Seems like a very genuine person and very involved in the community. He's doing really cool things with his business and we're happy to support them now. He even gave us his lunch so that we could see how good it was. Totally unnecessary but very appreciated! The gentleman that does the grilling (can't remember his name) deserves an award for his tenderloin. It was fantastic! Seasoned to perfection, fresh, crispy... one of the best I've had in a long time. The tenderloin salad was SO good. My husband really enjoyed hanging out and talking with him as well. The woman in the kitchen (Anna I believe?)... SO SWEET! She brought us some homemade egg rolls to sample as we were leaving and they were absolutely DELICIOUS. The plum sauce was such a good touch and the ginger inside stood out and tasted amazing. The meat was very flavorful, the veggies inside were perfect, and the outside was crispy. I could easily stop once a week for her egg rolls... TOP NOTCH! The hang-out spot out back is cool! We love that it's nothing "fancy", it's like hanging out in a friend's back yard and we were able to park our SxS out back too. Everyone was chatty and happy to be there. Definitely a friendly crowd and our type of place! Being that we're only 13 mins away... I'm afraid we're going to be regulars now Definitely stop sometime! Food, music, friends, drinks, bingo nights, convenience store, ice cream, bait shop, ice, etc... one stop fun shop!

It was such a fun trip and it also felt good to know we are supporting a small business. Most of the employees were friendly, especially the cashier. He had a happy demeanor and made us feel welcome as travelers. I would definitely stop and try a sandwich and some of their sides.

Anyone who shops here knows unfriendly, rude cashiers are a long-standing norm. But this goes far beyond that. I witnessed deli employees openly mocking and laughing at a customer for wearing glasses, including using fake voices and calling them "nerdy." It was cruel, public bullying of someone who appeared to have an eye disability. The stuff of Disney schoolyard villains. Truly an insane thing to witness from grown men in work uniform on the clock. Here's the really disturbing thing... Leadership didn't even care. I reported it immediately and followed up many times (phone, email, website form, social) asking for leadership to respond. The marketing manager assured me that leadership was well aware of the incident. Two weeks later, I still haven't gotten a single response. I won't support a business that tolerates bullying and ignores people who speak up against it. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the hash browns stick to your ribs and the biscuit with delicious apple butter is filling. With our usual under renovation, we decided to go out of our way to drop by at the Gatesville Country Store on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. before they closed at 3 p.m. They still had a number of customers and a trio of motorbikers came in afterwards. We picked from their specials which were a bean and ham stew with cornbread, bbq pork sandwich with home fries & onions, along with cherry cobbler. Picked our drinks from the cooler and sat out in the sunny porch table and enjoyed the 60+ degree weather after a 40 degree morning while Robin prepared our food. Friendly conversation with other customers and warm sun (and cold drinks) made it easy on the wait. (there are dining tables inside and under a covered porch too). Yes, the food is served on foam plates with plasticware, but the taste is home cooking with care. Crispy home fries with caramelized onions (can't resist with ketchup) and soft moist cornbread with whipped butter (not in package) that were perfect companion to the bean and ham stew. Though I prefer cherries that are more tart in cobbler/pie, the homemade crust made up for it. Snagged a brownie to take home since we couldn't resist. Altogether it was $23 and credit cards are accepted (whew!) Left wallet at home and we were scraping together cash and coins before we saw the credit card sticker on the door and added desserts to our order. A 15 minute country drive from Nashville which certainly would have been at least that long a wait finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon in Nashville.
