Lovely little whole in the wall and smells great! The popcorn was a bit expensive for what it was. I will pass next time

    Caramel delites, beware, very addicting.

I am not sure what is wrong with me, but for months now, I have been madly in love with all things popcorn, sweet, salty, cheesy, whatever, I want it all the time. So of course when we took a trip to Nashville and I heard there was a popcorn shop I made the effort to get up to Carmel Corn Cottage. First, know that the inside is small so it isn't a place to window shop for too long, thankfully, everything they offer is on display and easy to find information. Staff was happy to answer questions and I noticed they sold other items such as caramel apples and fountain drinks, etc. But I was here for popcorn! Picked up two bags, their caramel corn that is like puff corn coated in deliciousness instead of regular popcorn called Caramel Delites and the white cheddar standard popcorn. Price was fair. Both were very good but my sweet tooth loved the Caramel Corn more, it was addicting, so in this way, I am glad I don't live closer...although, I just noticed you can buy popcorn online, hmm...I definitely recommend checking this place out if you have a popcorn craving and are in the Nashville area!

Caramel delites? Yes, please! This place seems to make homemade caramel everything! As someone who definitely prefers caramel over chocolate, this is a welcomed treat. I enjoy their caramel-covered marshmallows, but my absolute favorite thing here would be their Caramel Delites. They are bites of puffed corn covered in caramel. They are a bit pricey, but I would recommend getting the larger bag if your budget allows. The small bag is just a teaser.

    So much popcorn...so little time!

Most come in two sizes with the larger size being significantly more affordable for a little bit more in price. In addition to the jerky, there are rubs and sauces for sale. Sadly, they don't have samples available. I can see how free samples might satisfy someone's curiosity and kill a sale, but if someone liked the sample, they might make a purchase too! Seems like they could benefit from having at least one of their flavors featured with samples to draw people in. He said, "I have something for you to try! Do you want to try it?! I've been perfecting it!" How can I say no to something so deliciously mysterious. So I said yes again. He darted to the back to get his enigmatic edible concoction. I'm learning that, in general, in life, saying yes to new things is usually the correct answer. The man came back out carrying a tiny Dixie cup with a sample of raspberry balsamic vinegar and Meyer lemon olive oil. "Swirl it around and drink it down like a shot!" The man said. "It tastes like the most delicious salad you've ever tasted!" And wouldn't you know: the man was right! It turns out, homeboy used to work in a restaurant, and he loves to cook, too. As I was tasting the vinegary oil, homie told me about the origins of the vinegar and oil I was tasting, what proportions to use to make a vinaigrette, and how else I could use them (balsamic vinegar in a cocktail!). I ended up buying a bottle each of the raspberry balsamic vinegar and Meyer lemon olive oil, and both have been probably my best purchases of 2025. All this to say: The customer service at The Wild Olive is exemplary. The people -- or more particular, this dude I encountered -- love food and have lots of recommendations for how to use the oils and vinegars in food and while cooking and baking. You can also ask to taste any of the oils or vinegars in the shop. As many as you want! When you find one that you like, there are two different sized bottles to choose from: 250 ml and 500 ml. The variety of oil and vinegar at The Wild Olive is amazing, so you'll probably want to taste some before you commit. There is also a section with gourmet goods, like pasta, tapenade, flavored salts, tinned fish and nuts. Plus, a refrigerated section with salami and cold San Pellegrino. When I run out of my olive oil and vinegar, I will be making a trip back to Nashville to hit up The Wild Olive again. This is now one of my favorite shops in central Indiana.

All of these attributes really help accentuate the main attractions - the counters of balsamic vinegar and olive oils. My MIL was after a particular flavor. The two women working were extremely friendly and in the process of redecorating the store for springtime. They informed us that we could sample whatever we wanted. Yay! I've been to olive oil shops like this in other touristy areas and they've had the bread available to the customer next to the dispensers for self-service. This was pre-covid, so I'm sure bread wasn't readily available during this visit to cut down on contamination. I get that, but it personally deterred me from sampling. I didn't want to bother the shop owners every time I wanted something - which would have been a lot. :) I think the prices were around $16-$20 per bottle depending on the size. So, so many flavors from salty to savory to sweet. Unique flavors. So unique that you should definitely try them before you buy. Highly recommend!

Candy Dish came highly recommended by a friend, and so, when I was in Nashville, I made a point to visit! My thing is chocolate, so I headed straight for the display case of chocolates. Candy Dish has chocolates galore: old-fashioned chocolates like mint meltaways and haystacks, peanut butter cups (giant ones the size of an adult hand and regular-sized ones), Buckeyes, bonbons, chocolate-covered caramels, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-covered almonds ... you get the idea. Lots of chocolate! I had a hard time choosing what to get, but I ended up getting a milk chocolate salted caramel and a turtle, which is a chocolate-covered caramel with pecans in it. The taffy section of Candy Dish is off the candy chain. If I had my children with me, they would have headed straight for the taffy bins, because they love that sticky-sweet confection. This candy store also has bulk old-fashioned candies that your grandmother used to have at the bottom of her purse, like butterscotch disks and peppermints, as well as the kinds of candies that parents dread because they're a choking hazard: Lemonheads, Atomic FireBalls, jawbreakers and root beer barrels. I have been to Brown County and Nashville many times and walked around these shops, but I've never actually tasted the goods. Well, it was time to change that on my most recent trip! The Candy Dish carries a wide assortment of chocolates, fudge and, well, candy! I wanted to try a few different options, and the attendant behind the counter was very helpful. I came away with a little something for everyone: chocolate fudge, caramel turtles and a giant chocolate-dipped marshmallow for my youngest. I also picked up a yummy little square of dark chocolate sea salt caramel to share with a friend. The Candy Dish is a cute little spot in the heart of Nashville. I highly recommend stopping in on your next visit. Personally, I can't wait to get back down to Nashville soon!
