I stopped by wienerschitzel on a Wednesday because fir the month of May they have 4 for $4 on the chili dogs which is a steal of a deal. Not to mention I haven't had them in a few years. I added cheese and onions to my hot dogs and you can upgrade to a pretzel bun or premium beef dog for $1.50 I ordered inside for dine in. The customer service was great considering I did come during lunch rush and is was super busy with one front counter employee. My food was delicious and there is minimal seating inside. This Weinerschnitzel is THE BEST! The gentleman and lady who work the late shift (open until midnight!) are incredibly thoughtful, considerate, and pleasant employees. They always prepare delicious food! It is hot and fresh, and correct 100% of the time. They are both super friendly and accommodating of any deals or specials. The man is Mexican-American and always has a smile on his face and u can't help but smile back. The gal at the window always works hard to get the orders out quickly and she remembers to ask about the little things - a cup for the dipped cone, ketchup and salt for fries, etc. Excellent service, amazing food, and good people! The soggy bun was tiny,maybe 5" long and the dog, about as thick as a dime. The chili was just gross! Not worth the price at all. The service also lacked. I couldn't believe I found myself at Wienerschnitzel... the one near sunrise and Madison in Citrus Heights. I haven't been there in decades, back to the days when I would take the kids there for a cheap corn dog and soft serve ice cream. Since then I've become a pretentious foodie...dare I say likely annoying food snob... who would never darken the drive through portal of Wienerschnitzel for love nor money. But the siren song of the Holy Reuben could not be resisted. Yes folks, it is true, they have brought back the iconic fan favorite pastrami Reuben sandwich. About which samdwich creation I have yelped way too much on numerous of my other reviews :-). And plan to continue yelping about whenever possible. Always In Search of the Holy Grail. I gotta say this one is solidly in tier two. Tier 1 is only occupied by a rare few legit Reuben sandwiches in my local stomping grounds. Those would be the Sutter Street Grill in Old Folsom and Beach Hut Deli. I still mourn the loss of Max's opera cafe and any decent Jewish deli anywhere around the Sacramento suburbs.... not to mention the bar food in my hometown in small-town Michigan where the German immigrants have no fear of using the high fat High spice ingredients God bless them. It's pretty sad when I can almost make a better one at home. But I digress. Pastrami was top-notch ...not stringy or fatty, the melted swiss cheese was almost enough, sauerkraut was skimpy but tasty, rye bread was quite nice, and you could almost taste the Thousand Island dressing and mustard. Where did it fall short according to my perfect 10 scale? As so often happens, the bread was barely grilled and there just weren't enough pungent seasonings or ingredients. I like a Reuben that stands up and gets your attention. So I took it home and treated it to some high-power horseradish with the mandatory Claussen chilled dill pickle spear on the side. A very nice palate pleaser, although I probably won't go again due to the $7 price tag for basically a fancy pastrami sandwich. Please, sandwich makers of the world, please let us have those Reubens a little more grilled :-) or is it just me? read more

Meh.... I thought I'd try out this fast food place after numerous pieces of junk mail that include tons of coupons. I love coupons, but even with coupons I don't see myself going out of my way to eat here. It's hard to describe this place - it's like trying to describe cardboard - it's brown and hard. The food was okay. The corn dogs were ok and the milkshake was ok, but when I looked at the receipt I was in shock. My dad loves this place, why I don't know just something from his childhood in Kansas they didn't have one so through high school and college they would have dinner one every few weeks here. Being as my parents have lived in a house in the neighborhood behind this restaurant for 27 years literally 3 blocks behind them without major streets this location is always the worst ever. So my dad goes this evening to pick up dinner for his mother, my mom and himself. The only thing out of even left overs he was buying for my mother was one single corn dog that's all she wanted. Like every other time going there we all have to check the bag because they forget at least one item and this time was no different. The only thing they forgot when my dad reached the kitchen and my mom rips the side of the bag open to out food on each plate was her corn dog. Calling the place the only thing they will do is give you what you didn't get if you come back right now and get it no apology no free item on next purchase nothing. They stay in business by cheating customers and not offering a complimentary anything. Horrible business, if the next closest one wasn't 8 miles away they would never go to this location again and wanted me to write this review dictated from them on here. What can I say...its a weinershnitzel. If you want a hot dog in a pinch, go here. Nothing flashy, but decent food. Went here today with a complicated order....the woman with the glasses (who has been a great cashier for like ever it seems) was patient, and got the order correct. The only reason I write a review for a fast food place is either good or bad customer service.....and this one is great. I hope her manager and/or franchisee of this one reads this, and shares the praise in some way. Some little puke sack spilled his soda and hot dog all over the floor (hey other father, maybe handing a 2 year old a medium soda cup and hot dog isn't the brightest idea, but whatever), and she smiled and cleaned it up.
