Surfin' Bird
Liah H.

I love sandwiches. I believe they are one of my favorite foods. Beach Hut Deli makes the kind of sandwiches I want. We ordered online for pickup. It was easy and only took me a minute. I ordered a surfin' bird wish is turkey, avocado, cream cheese, bacon, and all the veggies. We shared a regular sandwich which was enough for both of us to walk away full. I showed up early to pick up my sandwich. I was greeted when walking in the door to a cute beach scene and friendly employees. As soon as I told them I was there to pick up they handed me my sandwich. The sandwich was great. Worth ordering a second time. Definitely would recommend.

Service was good. Ambiance is fine. The food is fresh. The $2 pint (you first pour each day for month of October 2025) of Loomis Basin's Alohawk, great. Everything great stops there. I cannot accept paying $47 for two 6" sandwiches (no extra meat or toppings), two bags of chips, no other drinks besides the $2 beer. Feeding two adults on $47 for sandwiches that are predominantly large/thick bread, not nutritious iceberg lettuce, and cream cheese, with just 3 oz low grade cold cuts isn't justifiable. This chain needs to dial it back on greed. At 4:00-5:00 on a weekday, there weren't many people dining or doing take out. Same overpriced experience as delivered at Five Guys Burgers. Haven't been there in probably 5 years and Sunrise location is always empty. Similar here at BHD. Not returning.

We have been to this location several times. Workers are friendly and the restaurant is clean. Our go to sandwich is the Santa Cruz sandwich, our sandwich was packed with pastrami, bacon, cheese, and condiments mayo, mustard, pickles, lettuce, avocado, peperoncini peppers and a good slice of cream cheese. My husband and I split the regular or large size sandwich depending on how hungry we are. They have a large selection of Dirty brand chips, we like the Funky Fusion and Mesquite BBQ. The restaurant is decorated with surfboards and other beach memorabilia. And the Shark painting on the wall is huge. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

I've gone to this location in person, ordered from doordash, and ordered online for pick up. Sometimes the food is a hit sometimes a miss. The Marley nachos are delicious! My favorite is the Cali and my husband the bird. I have gotten stale chips once though Otherwise yummy sandwich spot.

My receipt, a bit on the pricey side since the 6 inch sandwiches don't come with a side! Also drink bit pricey, chips great price tho!

I would say it's time for an updated review! Hubby stopped in to surprise me with a Pastrami & Cheese with provolone, extra pickles, mayo & mustard on a Wheat Roll. Beach Hut Deli knows how to pack on the meat!!! Have you ever seen a more meatier sub? It was practically spilling out of the sides with mouthwatering pastrami, hands down the BEST sub I've ever had!! I'll definitely be returning to try more of their subs, definitely worth the price!!

Good stuff just inside the doors of BHD! It's been so long and I forgot how delicious the Malibu sandwich is. It's not as packed with meat as some of the other options but still great. Chill vibe inside, almost kinda like a bar feeling in this location the way it's set up. They even have a self serve kiosk in the center where you can order what the staff described as, "CBD". Hmmm Polite and quick service. Kinda pricey but it's a decent quality and I usually feel a good value. Tonight is was over $17 for the regular size sandwich, chips and tip. I know it's controversial to tip (for some) in this type of counter service restaurant but I figured a couple bucks can go along way for some people right now.

Ordered the meatball sandwich and got this?

Good Eats Deli is located in a Northridge Plaza with Planet Fitness, Raley's, and a few other businesses. There was plenty of parking and I was able to grab a spot near the business. They had one little table outside and a few small tables inside so you could enjoy your food right away. The team greeted me right away and I let them know it was my first time in. I ended up ordering the Salami Supreme ($13.99) that comes with your choice of bread, Genoa salami, turkey, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and your choice of spread- I opted for Dutch Crunch and the pesto mayo for my choices. The sandwich also comes with a side salad or macaroni salad and a small cookie. I also ordered the Lamb Gyro Wrap ($14.39) with lamb gyro meat, diced cucumber, tomato salad, lettuce and housemade tzatziki sauce. This also comes with a side and small cookie. The sandwiches came out quickly and were a good size and value with the side and cookie for the price. The ingredients were fresh and the house sauces definitely elevated the experience. I hadn't had a gyro in a while so I claimed the wrap as my own and it didn't make it home. I also got to try the Salami Supreme and it was delicious with the pesto mayo on it. They have a lot of sandwich options on the menu and I'll definitely be back to try more.

As someone who is bipolar and been homeless before, I always pass along my leftovers to one of the homeless that hangs out in the park. I came up to him today with a cup of tea, and he asked if I could get him a cup of coffee. I said sure, it's 2 dollars that I can spend on someone in a similar situation that I have been in myself before. I came out with a cup of coffee for him, he was standing by the bar down the street. He requested milk and sugar. I didn't want to touch the cup he was holding so I said okay. The girl at the register was happy to give me an extra cup for milk and sugar. I filled it and was cornered when I was exiting. She was fuming, flustered saying that refills aren't free. How dare I take free refills from the shop before. I apologetically expressed I can pay for a second cup of coffee. She didn't back down. She verbally berated me in front of EVERYONE and it was an awful experience. I've been homeless myself but I've never looked it. This is unacceptable behavior and very ableist. I will still come by, but I wanted to warn others that this place is very discriminatory against the disabled homeless population and I do not want to be a part of this kind of energy.

I got the Italian sub, and it was delicious. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and a really satisfying sandwich. Sometimes you don't need anything fancy, just a great sub made right. It definitely gets busy around lunchtime, and between the line and people filling the tables, you can tell this place has its regulars. No dino-sized dining room here, but the sandwiches definitely make up for it! Rex Tip: If you're coming during the lunch rush, expect a line and plan to take your sandwich to go if you can't get a table.
