Never been here before, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. The funny thing is is that I only ended up here because the little sis saw the fried cheese sticks on tiktok. So...off we were I ordered the slider and the chicken strip combo...medium. For a fast food place, the chicken was actually fried well...m crunchy, but not dry. The chicken, at medium, had enough kick to linger, but not enough to ruin it for me. If you like it spicier, go for it, but medium was perfect for me. The cheese sticks passed the cheese pull test. I preferred the slider....the sauce and the kale slaw was actually a good temper for the spice. If I return, I will happily be satisfied with the two slider meal. The only "meh" item were the cheese fries... unimpressive fries with a liquid cheese sauce. If I return, I may get Mac and cheese. With so many "Hot Chicken" type of places opening around, which one do you go to? Well, I've tried quite a bit, and I really like Dave's Hot Chicken. There is plenty of parking, and lots of seating inside. Every time I come here, they are pretty busy. It's clean, which is nice haha. The workers are very friendly. I usually get it at the Hot level, and it's absolutely perfect--flavorful, juicy, and just the right amount of heat. We have been wanting to try Dave's Hot Chicken. It reminds me of Raising Cane's, but with seven levels of heat level from "No Spice" to "Reaper." If you can tolerate heat, give this place a try. We tried the lite mild chicken sliders, and it was the perfect amount of heat for me. The chicken is juicy, and the slaw and pickles add extra flavoring. I like it! The crinkle cut fries were average. Nothing special. I was surprised that they have cauliflower tender bites. They were very good. It's a great vegetarian option. I had ordered in advance online. Hungry late at night, I drove past this place and decided to drop in. I appreciate that some places stay open a bit longer than others since I'm often working late at night. It also happens that I just returned from Nashville... so I still had Nashville hot chicken on my mind. I ducked in pretty close to closing time (15 mins before?). I *try* not to be "that guy" who comes in at the last minute... but I am also of the opinion that the hours on the door should be the hours they're actually serving... and they did well in that respect here. I've been turned away over 30 minutes before the posted closing time at other places and that's just not cool at all. Again, NOT a problem here for me and I was thankful... showing my thanks by ordering to go and eating in the car. That being said, I can't really say much about the inside of the dining room or anything. I just needed a snack, really, so made a pretty simple order - some tenders and fries. The tenders were very decent... done just right and tasty. It was pretty darn close to what I had in Nashville. You can get two amazing sandwiches and fries for less than a similar but inferior meal at McDonald's, and Dave's prices have stayed reasonable over the years despite rising costs everywhere else. Here's what I loved. The pickles, the sauce, the fries, and the slaws all better than Canes. The chicken was good but I would rather have Canes. Also the sad little thin piece of white bread is kind of pitiful. Seems like an afterthought. The Mac and cheese was pretty good. The medium heat was on the hotter side of what I would expect for medium. The chicken was tender. We ordered on the app and it was ready in 12 min. Customer service was good. We finally tried Dave's and we both got the #2. One of us got extra hot and reaper (a signature is needed for the reaper). The other got medium and hot. Out of all of the 4 flavors we tried the reaper was definitely the hottest. I have a high spice tolerance but I would choose the extra hot it's the perfect spice level without the spiciness being to overbearing which I felt that with the reaper. The chicken overall is juicy and crunchy with their nice crunchy pickles. The drive through service was fast and efficient, we received our food hot and freshly fried, the fries were also good not salty at all which we really enjoyed. Since hot chicken is all the rage, this was my first time giving "Dave's Hot Chicken". Now I am a picky eater and some of the best hot chicken I've eaten was in Nashville, TN. Oddly enough, this chain was actually founded in Los Angeles and now has locations in 20 states across America as well as a few locations in other countries. It can be very difficult trying to replicate Nashville-styled hot chicken in other states but I will say that Dave's was surprisingly tasty and delicious. Located directly on Madison Ave. and adjacent to Hazel Ave. in the Fair Oaks area, this Dave's Hot Chicken has been opened since early-2023. Since I was starving and had not eaten breakfast, I arrived here during the afternoon of Saturday 12/16/2023 at around 2:00pm for a late lunch. Parking was very easy to find as this location doesn't neighbor any other businesses (even though this corner has a Raley's, TJ Maxx, Petco, & several other retailers). Much of the exterior signs stand out well, especially a bright red sign (visible from Madison Ave) that showcases the business. And to add to the convenience, they offer a drive-thru as well as the typical dine-in option. Once inside, the L-shaped interior layout of the business is rather spacious, bright, and inviting. The walls are a dazzling display of colors that really make this place stand out. They offer stools and multiple wooden tables with red chairs that can accommodate a couple dozen customers at once. There is also a self-serve fountain drink station and public restrooms near the rear. Menu options are limited with only four "meal options". You basically pick how mild or spicy you want your chicken ("no spice", "lite mild", "mild", "medium", "hot", "extra hot", and "reaper". Since I wanted a little kick but not to the point where I have tears coming down my eyes, I went with "Dave's #4" which is 1 slider w/fries (priced at $9.99 + tax). Keep in mind that the meals do not include a drink so I went with a regular sized soft drink (priced at $2.19 for a small). They do carry a limited option of sides which includes cheese fries, macaroni & cheese, and kale slaw as well as various flavored milkshakes. As I've mentioned, the menu options here are quite scarce as they don't carry salads, baked beans, fried okra, potato salad, etc. But sometimes simpler is better and after placing my order, it is ready within 5 minutes. I will say that the food at Dave's Hot Chicken was above average but nothing that stood out. My slider had a generous piece of hot chicken complete with a scoop of their kale slaw and several pickle slices on the side. The secret sauce was tangy and sweet but not as good as Raising Cane's. It still was decent as an alternative dip to my fries. And the fries itself were delicious as I noticed sprinkles of paprika and other spices that made them very tasty. All in all, "Dave's Hot Chicken" is worth a visit, good customer service, tasty chicken, but somewhat a bit on the expensive side for what you get. My rating, four stars. read more

I keep trying, and they keep disappointing. This is my $7 slider. It's worse than the last one. It's got no sauce, barely any slaw and is the saddest chicken tender thrown on a bun. I'm not a big person, I usually eat 1/3 of my slider and then have to keep going back because it's so filling. I actually had to make more food after eating this (well, not the 2/3 empty bun) because it was so sad. Dave's Hot Chicken has become my new obsession! I find myself craving this more than any other chicken place now. The worker John is who I usually get in the drive thru and he's super friendly and professional :) it's pretty relaxed at this location as well, so it's a good spot to sit down and eat. If you haven't eaten here yet I highly recommend the sliders in medium flavor so it's not too spicy but you still get a good kick. Also get honey packets to add to the sandwich. read more
