The repair required careful reconstruction of the balcony and door threshold, and the team handled it with real expertise. I'm the President of my building's HOA and we had a multi-years long deferred maintenance issue affecting our common area flooring that had been installed a decade or more ago -- long before I was involved with the building -- and that was going to require significant repair to correct. While the floors looked good on their surface, sadly over many years an unknown amount of damage had started to occur underneath the installed slate after cracks in the grout had allowed water to leak into the floor below and the space between the joists which became the ceiling above in our garage. This ultimately required us to tear out the ceiling in sections of the garage to prevent structural damage being done to the ceiling joists / floor joists. So that's the set up for where we started off with and at which point WICR entered in and bid the job and ultimately they were chosen to complete having outbid two other contractors. David Dorado was WICR's lead contractor on our project and he was and is a definite asset to their team. David provided quality customer service during what was in all honesty a very normal construction project... meaning it had significant issues and multiple problems, far too many people involved and an HOA Board who should seriously have had a reality show following them around if for no other reason but to entertain others as misery loves company. But through it all, and in spite of our several setbacks (ie in-fighting, cost overruns, outsourcing to specialized sub-contractors - doors and stair stringer that had rusted due to standing water and required us to hire someone to cut and weld a new set of metal stringers to the old set after removing the rusted section and adding in a steel plate to the floor for it to attach to) all of which had to be done prior to WICR's coming back and completing the job that they had been hired to do which was to "waterproof the exterior decks" once the old slate had been removed, the underlayment repaired and any structural damage present could be addressed... this last one could only be detected after the extensive demolition of the deck tiles took place. Once that was all completed, new drains were placed and the floor's slope was corrected. Finally, the deck was waterproofed and a new color coat was chosen and applied to the entire building including the upper floor decking. All of this was done in order for our building to comply with the requirements of SB 326. The goal was in sight and we crossed the finish line with less than a month to spare as the January 1st, 2025 deadline approached. Great news... we PASSED! With flying colors! No small fete given David and I had to navigate the intricacies of intra-office politics, construction staff availability, finding & hiring specialty contractors, appeasing disgruntled homeowners, and the joy of enduring overzealous board members - but through it all David and I were able to ignore the white noise, remain focused, and keep our eyes on the proverbial prize. All said and done, and even though we were over schedule and over budget, that's just what you should expect when you're managing a $70,000 construction project. If you've done that before, than these are the guys you want to do the job... WICR will get it done. They're professional. They are there to do a job and want to get in, get it done, get out and move on to the next one. State law has created an increased need for contractors who can do this type of work and if you need it done than you want a company who has been successfully doing this type of work for decades. You may spend a little more, but this family owned business will have you covered and won't leave you hanging. Quality work, quality employees, and quality customer service -- provided you are as respectful of them as you'd like them to be with you. Thanks David and Thank you WICR. I used this company to install pool deck coating in June 2021. The decking didn't perform as they said. They came out and verbally said they would repair, then sent email that they would send various payment options. I'm still waiting in their options. To this day, the president of the company has failed to follow through. I have all the emails to support everything. I do not recommend this company and suggest you have everything in writing because they will verbalize how the decking will come out and then when you have problems they back pedal. I had Shawn come out and give me a quote on waterproofing my roof deck. I was a sizable job and would require a demo and resurfacing. I spent what seemed like an eternity researching roof deck coatings and techniques that are cost effective and low maintenance. Shawn and WICR made it to my final two possible contractors after considering over a dozen others. I hired this company to waterproof 100 square foot deck. For 5000. It turned into a 2.5 year legal battle because they ruined my deck, pulled NO PERMITS PASSED NO INSPECTIONS, HAD only 1 worker who picked up day laborers daily. This company has a long list of complaints and lawsuits. They attempted to bully me because I represented myself and gave them a good run for their money I must say! The deck was lopsided, leaks and they Cracked the exterior of the deck with a jack hammer. Ernie perez, David Mazor, Irina mazor (owner and attorney for company) Peter Lindborg is the other attorney, mark marsch, are all part of the scam dream team that did such a horrible job and then slapped a lien on my house to try to bully me. I fought back and won! ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS RUN THE OTHER WAY! I endured a long legal battle even though they failed an inspection from CSLB and the city of San bernardino, they still fought it with their homegrown attorneys. WICR just finished repairing and resurfacing my outside deck with a waterproof PLI-Dek system. The finished job looks great, looks just like tile, even though it is a multi-layer waterproofing system. My experience with WICR could not have been better. Their entire team is very professional from beginning to end. During the estimating process, they educated me on multiple options for fixing my leaking deck. we spent close to $20k with this firm to do a waterproof deck on new construction. it leaked inside the walls from day 1 and finally we had to pay a real waterproofing firm to come in, take out their work and put in a new system. the wicr people were unresponsive, always blaming someone else and do not really know what they are doing. read more
