This is a nice little neighborhood cafe. It has plenty of tables and chairs. Free wifi. This is tablestakes for me nowadays. I encounter coffeeshops with no or limited internet. Can you believe it? The crowd are mixed, seniors and students and anybody in between. They have plenty of food and drink options. Different kinds of coffee drinks, sandwiches, samosas, patties, pastries, etc. I had regular coffee and sausage rolls. The small coffee cup seems like a medium which is enough, and the medium one seems like a large to me. The sausage roll was served hot. The food on the display case doesn't seem like it's been there for a while. Looks reasonably fresh. Surprisingly, they are not too pricey! That helps in todays high inflation environment and it gets people coming back for more. There's plenty of parking in the front as this is located in a plaza. Big windows that let's in ambient light. I came to Wick's Cafe for lunch with my daughter as I had a parcel I needed to pick up in the same area. Featured here: Matcha Latte Caramel Frappe Spinach Quiche Tuna Melt Sandwich Cloud Cheesecake The Matcha Latte doesn't appear anywhere on their menu; however, I happened to overhear a customer in front of us ordering it so when I got to the front I inquired about it and the salesperson confirmed that they do serve Matcha Latte even though it's not written on the menu. Tuna Melt Sandwich was just OK. My daughter and I both felt that the cheese was not very melted. It would have been better if they had left the sandwich in the panini press for just a little longer. We did enjoy the Spinach Quiche though. Our slice of Cloud Cheesecake was the star of the show! I was floating on Cloud 9 while eating this cheesecake. Sharing this one slice with my daughter was hard. I wanted to have it all to myself. It was so incredibly light and fluffy; it felt more like a mousse cake than a cheesecake. I went here for lunch with a group while working nearby and back a few nights later for a tea to go. Really enjoyed the food and drink here; they have some cool stuff. For I got an Avocado and Brie Croissant with Hibiscus Mayo, a Cloud Cheesecake, and a Red Latte. The croissant was nicely flaky and the proportions of filling to croissant were right. The hibiscus mayo sounded a little bit unusual with brie but I was too intrigued not to try it and it was great. They used just enough for the unique floral tartness to come through in every bite. The cloud cheesecake, which uses butterfly pea flower, was also really good! The butterfly pea flower gave it a really subtle underlying floral flavour and the texture was creamy but not heavy. The red latte (rooibos espresso) was a little stronger than tea-style rooibos lattes but very smooth. I just had a Blueberry Green tea on my next visit which was quite good, don't remember whose tea they use. I think the prices on everything were fair. The only issue I had was that I got an aloof feeling from the staff, in particular this one barista that was there both times. On my lunch visit, there was enough of a local crowd there that it was a welcoming hang, but when I went to grab my tea in the evening, it was empty save for one group and I kind of felt like I was walking into a club meeting that I hadn't been invited to. read more

We visited this lovely, cozy cafe and we were impressed by their menu and service. They of course serve coffee, we tried their drip coffee and latte and they were both good. I was more impressed by their sweet and savoury offerings. We tried the Pesto turkey panini which was delicious but huge, I couldn't finish the whole thing and we also had the korean bbq sandwich which we liked more because it was really tasty. The bbq meat was tender, juicy, smoky and flavourful. My favourite however is their house made "cloud cheesecake". Not sure if they called it cloud because it was very light and fluffy in a good way. The texture is perfect for me, not very dense like most western style cheesecakes are but it also wasn't airy, it was just right. We tried the blueberry, hokaido, earl grey and tiramisu and they all didn't disappoint. The flavours were there and they weren't very sweet which is my preference when it comes to cheesecake so i easily finished 1 slice by myself. I've come to Wick's a number of times over the last few weeks because I was hosting an event at the Scottish Cultural Center across the street and Wick's was my spot I'd visit before or after meetings and site visits. I've mostly gotten coffees - almond milk lattes - which were great and gave me the caffeine boost I needed. I've also tried some of their pastries - pecan peanut butter cookie, chocolate chip banana bread, and the strawberry rhubarb pie. All the pastries I've tried have been delicious, which says a lot because I'm not usually a sweets person. They also have an assortment of breakfast items, wraps, and sandwiches, which I haven't tried yet. The cafe has plenty of colourful decor which brings the ambiance to life a little bit and there is plenty of seating and chairs if you want to stay and get some work done. The great thing about this spot is that there is plenty of free parking in front and in the side streets close by, so I don't have to worry about filling up a meter every 2 hours. I'll definitely be back here again soon and next time I'll try one of their wraps and/or sandwiches! read more

We live in the area and have only ever just walked by on our way elsewhere. This morning I remembered seeing something about cinnamon buns in the past so I called to ask if they had any and since they did we walked over and finally went inside. They are a very large establishment very popular with cyclists with only enough outdoor seating for 2.5 tables. We sat just inside the door at the two tall seats at the bar seating. Wonderful medium cappuccino and latte coffees in low and wide white mugs. While a decorative pour would have been nice the coffee was a delight. Paired with slightly warmed cinnamon buns it made for a memorable and nicely pleasant Saturday morning treat. Place is very busy and might be best to take and go. read more

I was going to get a coffee here but then I saw the strawberry rhubarb pie and it was screaming my name, so naturally I went for the more unhealthy option ate the huge hunk of pie that they gave me (heated up, too). It's a cute little shop with a decent amount of seating and nice staff. Was a great place for a work meeting as it was relatively quiet with some white noise in the background. Dropped by with a friend after a workout to grab a quick bite. Fairly spacious cafe in a calm, friendly environment. Food is order at the counter. I asked the cashier about what paninis we're currently available, and she replied back telling me that one of the flavors was BC bagel. Feeling curious about how they would work that into a panini, I gave it a shot and ordered it with a potato and leek soup. Maybe they had some sort of unique seasoning? Of course it comes and it was just a normal lox and cream cheese bagel, sprinkled with some capers. I have no idea why she told me this was a panini. However, the bagel tasted alright. Lox tasted fresh, cream cheese wasn't overwhelming and the bagel was decently toasted. Soup on the other hand was subpar. For one, it didn't come out very hot (closer to lukewarm) and it was also very very salty. I could barely even detect other elements as there was so much potato. Overall, it was OK. Their coffee seems pretty decent, so maybe I'll give that a shot next time. Also - another cafe tipping rant. Why? This time I tipped because I figured it was a sit down place with some level of service. Instead I had to get my own cutlery, grab my own water and even go up to the counter to get my own food. Stopped in for desert and a coffee with a girlfriend . The store is clean and well laid out with various tables and configurations . Staff was friendly and service was quick . We ordered a spanakopita to share it was as big as the plate and quite tasty we also shared a cheese cake it was typical but tasty. We both had Spanish coffees , basically a latte with added condensed milk very tasty and the cup was massive . I was looking for a place to do some work in the area and decided to do it here. Unfortunately, no AC but staff did their best to keep themselves and their customers cool by turning on all of their ceiling fans to the max, keeping their doors open (both front and back), and used an additional electric fan facing the cashier area as it was very warm that day. I ordered hedgehog and strawberry rhubarb pie. The hedgehog was good. It was made fresh w espresso and almond milk. This is my first time having hedgehog so I didn't know what to expect. I am not a big coffee drinker because I don't like the bitter taste but I liked it the way it was and I didn't feel like I needed to add extra sugar or cream. I was quite shocked at the portion size of the pie!! It's not a tiny squared snack-sized food you'd get from an average coffee shop. The pie filled the whole plate. It was so worth the $3.75 I paid. However, the fillings were overly sweet for my liking. Not bad, though! The ladies working were sweet. I'll come back here again when I'm in the area. read more

Honestly, this location is one of the most unusual for a strip mall - there's almost nothing here except for Airport Square. Parking is available in the tiny strip mall out front, as well as on the street. The place is really small and cozy - like a mom and pop outfit (though I don't mean that literally). Hehe. In other words the service here is friendly and professional and the place is tidy. The morning weekday vibe is casual with a good mix of people. A London Fog on a blustery afternoon makes me smile. Especially while making great use of their ample tables, free wi-fi and spacious, brightly day lit cafe. The weekend staff was delightful and the $6.50 avocado, red onion and brie panini was divine. No, sublime. Especially when the awesome female barista asked me if I like dill. When I said yes, she completed my sammie with a dill mayo from the fridge. It's those little added touches by a friendly staffer that make me think of Wick's again and again. Soup!! may not be the first thing you think of to get at a cafe, but Wick's soups are awesome, and that's what I keep coming back for. I want to try their fancy-sounding sandwich wraps one day, but I haven't had a chance, since they always have yummy-sounding soups. The first soup I had here was Thai(?) Curry Soup. It had a deep broth taste, and enough spice (flavour) to distinguish it as curry, but not too much that it was really spicy (hot). I had Creamy Clam Chowder today!! First stop in Vancity is the big "M"'s place. My favest cafe in moms hood is tucked on a quiet corner in Marpole. Great ambience, coffee and freshly pre-prepped baked sweets and eats like bagel sandwiches and wraps. The girls there are great and the ambient morning music is sensitive perfect. I cant believe I am outta Montreal's relentless winters aftermath: bud-less, green-starved. Vancouver delivers. So good to be in the BC lower mainland and islands area!!!! read more

I spent almost an entire day there once, waiting for my car to be fixed by a nearby mechanic. Great atmosphere, pleasant staff... and the coffee was very good, even in Vancouver's standards. Internet connection seems to work without any problems. I had one of their breakfast wraps there, which was very good and very reasonably priced. I'm loving this place. My husband and I have been on vacation with my parents for a week and a half and needed some time to ourselves. We spent a few hours at Wick's on a Tuesday morning/afternoon and enjoyed ourselves. In addition to free wi-fi, the staff was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was fantastic. It's quite, and quaint and everything a local coffee shop should be. We didn't indulge in the scrumptious looking pastries in the display, but throughly enjoyed our paninis and soup. This place is a block away from my apartment so I find myself there quite regularly. For the most part the staff is friendly and the food/coffee great. If you order a panini remember to ask for a large one as their bread is not uniform in size. They also grill their paninis wrapped in some sort of paper so if you like that real toasted quality you just have to ask them to grill it normally. One thing that irks me is sometimes they bring your food out to you and sometimes they just yell for you to come pick it up. Wick's is a quaint little cafe in a secluded area of residential Marpole. Because it's off the beaten path, it makes for a perfect place to go to chill out and chat with a friend for a couple of hours. It's also a great place to work off your laptop with free wifi and comfortable seating. They serve a great variety of coffees and teas, both simple and fancy types, as well as a variety of pastries. They also serve simple breakfasts and sandwiches too, so if time whizzes by and you hit meal time, you don't even have to change venues. The serving staff is friendly, easy-going and personable. Be sure to check out Wick's if you happen to be in the area. And if you live in that particular part of Marpole, you'll probably end up making it a regular haunt. read more

Let's preface my review by saying that 9 months ago my coworkers decided to switch from grabbing coffee from Starbucks for Wicks. I wasn't a fan of this idea but supported it. Coworkers take turns buying coffee for department. So every day we are purchasing 4-5 coffees for our department. As I'm a slow drinker I tend to enjoy my coffee for a while. I would take the coffee with me to Wicks, sometimes ordering food or something else. As for the food and drink it's terribly bland and overpriced. Compared to Oriole or the nearby Safeway it's expensive and not much is given. They have painini's that are small and flavourless. To add insult to this they give what could be described as half a cup of chips. For the amount they charge it's not worth it! What's worse is the service. Most times the baristas are chatting away and will take some time to even get to you. I've even had employees harass me asking me if I'm eating/drinking their products. Which for the price and quality is almost insulting to admit. What made me decide to finally give up on Wicks? The attitude of one barista who harasses me and has the guile to stare at me as if I'm inconveniencing her. Considering myself and my coworkers buy their food and drink on a daily basis, I find this quite unacceptable. Overall it's sad that a local coffee shop mucks up so much. I like many others want to support local businesses as much as possible; but with high prices and terrible service I'd rather go to Starbucks or Safeway where the prices are more fair and the employees have better customer service. In fact my coworkers and I will be getting coffee from Starbucks for the foreseeable future. read more
