Had for the first time by delivery. I know food is always better in person, but the food was OKAY. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with onion rings. The chicken sandwich wasn't what I expected. It was good but it was more like chicken cutlets rather than a piece of chicken you usually receive in a sandwich. The onion rings came soggy but were still good. I also ordered the potato pancakes. They were gross... very bland and it felt like I was eating a plain potato. My friend ordered fried calamari as their entree. They were not so great... eatable... but not desirable. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and mashed potatoes. He loved it. Said the sandwich was delicious, and the mash was very creamy. I don't know if it's just me, but any time we go in it's like it's an effort to even seat us (despite the please wait to be seated sign - we don't want to piss anyone off so we wait to be seated!!) They forget your drinks, which wouldn't be so bad if it was half busy but when you are 1 of 3 tables and your waitress is sitting having the craic with her friends at the table RIGHT NEXT to you - it's hard to see why it takes 20 minutes for a bottle of beer which you have to ask for twice. Waited for an hour for burnt food. Then get nothing but eye rolls and attitude. I am a bar tender. I know people suck. But come on, give me something here. Maybe it's who you know in this place, certain people get 5 star treatment but new comers to the neighborhood looking for a nice local spot to spend money in seem to wait for hours for food and die of thirst. read more

She had an attitude from the moment she came over and seemed impatient with our group, answering our questions as if she had something more important to attend to. We waited far too long for our food and when we asked for our check we waited at least 20 minutes for her to remember that she forgot. Hubby just picked up the Penne in vodka sauce and chicken and a French onion soup. The soup was really small. They sent two small brown buns and some butter plus some Parmesan cheese. Initially when my dad made the reservations here for my graduation dinner, I was a little peeved. Not because I don't like good pub fare (I love it, actually), but because I wanted to hit up a Bobby Flay joint and be all fancy after sitting in a hot grad gown in the blazing sun for about five hours. But after our meal, I'm not complaining at all. It was out-of-this-world good! Our waitress was nice enough to hold our table for an extra hour and a half, since things were running really late. We ordered about half the appetizers and ate them in the span of three minutes....we were hungry! As for dinner, I ordered the Pistachio-Crusted Salmon. Seriously, they gave me one of the heftiest slabs of fish I've ever had, and I ate all of it. I wish I had more! All in all, this was a great treat for my first post-grad meal. The FRESHEST clams on the half, I've had in years, with no after taste. (She even remembered what salad dressings the ENTIRE TABLE liked!!!) Then there are the mains. Oy Vey, (or whatever you say in Ireland that would be equivalent to an Oy Vey), where do I start? The rib eye is one of the best I've had. The lamb chops....juicy and fresh. They have great inexpensive lunch specials, but I always go for the dinner fare. I need to have a belly full for my long journey back to Callicoon, NY. . Are the items pricey? Not for what you get. The steak was Angus quality and huge. I had to take half home and had steak and eggs the next day. Even the potato's and vegetables are FRESH. This is an amazing place that me and my family visit every year as the servers are helpful and the food is delectable. However, this year we met an unpleasant server. My cousin had asked for skinny fries and given her an example of how skinny they are. We laughingly joked about her bringing the thick kinds. You can only guess what happened next. She then told her parents that she did not specify even though we saw her doing so. Then came over to argue with us about us not specifying. Went there a few weeks ago on a Saturday night, and the place was pretty crowded and had to wait around 1/2 hour to be seated , which we didn't have a problem with since we were able to order drinks from the bar area. The prices for the food are excellent. i had a pulled pork sandwich with fries and it was only 8 bucks , you can't beat that , you can't even get a value meal in a fast food restaurant for that cheap. All the main course that everyone else had was priced well too, and they liked their food as well. Their appetizers were good and priced well too. The only problem we had, and i noticed read this with a few other reviews their service was really slow. I know it was busy, and i'm not sure if they were understaffed or not, but it took a while for us to get our drinks and the waitress didn't come and ask us how we were doing as often as she should have.. Also, a friend had a soup come with his meal and for some reason they were didn't bring it out with the apps or the soups that my other friends had ordered as an app. They said they were going to bring his soup out when the appetizers were done, which really didn't make sense ,seeing as how we would have to wait for him to finish his soup before we got our main course or they bring his soup and main course out at the same time and that doesn't make much sense either. All in all i would recommend this place, just be sure you have some extra time if the service is slow. 5 stars on the prices 2.5 on the service. read more

With German specialties as a hallmark of their menu, and a huge, friendly bar, The Wicked Wolf is a winner.
