But they've got some fancy new digs with this permanent structure. It's not much more than walls and a roof, but that's useful for this type of market since the stalls might vary in size depending upon the vendor. There are vendors both in and outside the structure, selling baked goods (bagels, cookies, hot dogs, etc.), meats, flowers, fruits and veggies, you name it. And it's nice to be out of the rain for at least part of the time, which is oh so common in Eugene. They have a bathroom (an all-user bathroom, great!) but I'm not sure if it's just far too small or what. We didn't need it, thankfully, because there was a line out the door of the bathroom. This seems to be the biggest flaw with the building--not sure they really planned well in this case.

The space was huge - they used the performance halls at the fairgrounds. It was busy and loud, but I was able to find all kinds of things there. There was no cost to get in which I appreciated. My partner was able to get Christmas gifts for people he'd been struggling to shop for, so that was a relief. Parking at the fairgrounds is ample and I had no problem finding a place to park. Getting in and out was also super easy. No cost to park, an added perk. We had lunch here and were glad we did. I had the mushroom mac from The Mac and it was good, but a bit congealed since it had been sitting for a while. My partner had the chicken and rice plate from Irie, the Jamaican booth, and it was so so good. The rice was incredibly well-seasoned and the chicken melted in our mouths. I would definitely get that plate myself next time. Overall I'm glad I gave the Holiday Market a try after living in Eugene for three years. I'll probably go every year now.

I went Saturday with a friend and had the best time. Many vendors who are frequent flyers at the Saturday market are here as well. There are also local food vendors there, as well as live entertainment going on. There is something for everyone! I found an amazing piece of art for my office, some reusable household products, Christmas gifts, and more while I was there. If you are wanting to support small, local, friendly, and simply amazing local businesses this holiday season, you need to visit the holiday market. You won't be disappointed! Would I return? Absolutely. I had such a great time. Definitely worth a return visit next year.

And being only a 15-20 minute drive out of Eugene, a great way to spend a few hours with friends & family. We spent about 2 hours picking low-hanging cherries (really no need to climb ladders since fruit was so abundant) and got about 10 lbs for $30. The cherries were so fresh, sweet & juicy.......this from "sampling a few" which is also part of the fun of u-pick........that and pit-spittin' contests! The orchard is a laid back place with plenty of other varieties of fruit to pick and/or sample. Or simply just to purchase pre-picked. Different fruits have different "peak" seasons for harvesting so do some research and then go and enjoy nature's bounty.

Within 10 seconds of leaving my car, I'm approached by a staff member that stated there were too many people there & they wouldn't allow dogs. Fast forward to today, Friday. I come back hoping less people are here as my special needs son, not myself does not do well around a lot of people. After 10 minutes of waiting in line with no one selling tickets, I ask if they cover the entrance of DSP's. The guy asks what that is; I explain & his response was, "no we don't do that because then we won't make as much money as we do'. Well, so I didn't let my son down, I fork out the 20. For my son, his 2 DSP's & myself. We won't be returning. NOT SPECIAL NEEDS FRIENDLY. By the way, Hentze farms didn't charge for my dsp & the tractor ride had a bigger tractor & a way more scenic ride.

After having a very disappointing experience at Thistledown Farms due to issues accommodating my ADA compliant service dog, we were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful our experience was here. From the moment we arrived, everyone was welcoming, respectful, and accommodating. It was clear that the staff understood service animal access and had appropriate policies and training in place. My service dog was treated with respect, and we were able to enjoy our time together without feeling excluded or having to explain ourselves. It truly means so much when a business makes everyone feel welcome and ensures guests with disabilities can enjoy the same experiences as everyone else. Thank you, Hentze Family Farms, for such a positive experience! We will absolutely be back, and I highly recommend visiting.

They're always in the know about who's growing what, when, and won't hesitate to answer your questions. My canning bounty flourished this year under their tutelage. I encourage everyone, but especially those who are beginners in the sourcing local gig, to add Riverbend farms to your rotation. You'll get a nice overview of U-pick and wholesale produce, as well as an orientation to other farmers in town. They also have a great selection of homemade pies, cookies, jams, and even Friday night dinners [update: the Friday dinners are packaged as "to-go" meals for (edit) two, four, or six that can be picked up at the farm. They don't have a sit-down restaurant.] Finally, at the end of this summer, they started offering canning, salsa, jam & jelly making classes. With so many Extension Office closures (don't get me started), this training will be a truly valuable community resource. So, don't let the fall weather fool you. Made my first visit in last week and picked up half a flat of fresh picked strawberries, a pint of homemade sour cherry jam (they had several kinds available) heads of organic fresh leaf lettuce and a few big (BIG) handfuls of crispy pea pods. All of the things we purchased were wonderful. Berries, pea pods and lettuce were gone in short order. The jam is a great add in to morning yogurt. We'll be back for more of other things on our next trip to Eugene. The super friendly family staff that runs the farm and the farm store deserve special mention. They really do make you feel glad you came in. (The friendly back and forth they had with local regular customers while we were in the store demonstrates the value of good service to building customer loyalty.) When I called ahead for directions, since my GPS didn't find them, I asked if they had berries available. The woman I spoke with asked if I'd want to pick my own. No, I said, MS challenges have put my "pickin' days" behind me. She said she and her daughter would go pick some for me and if I'd give them 30 minutes before coming in, they'd have fresh berries ready. Nice. The farm store also has a full kitchen on prem and I had a chance to peek in it. They were making home made shortcakes (the aroma wafted through the store) and fresh strawberry pies on the day I was there. Also a note on accessibility for folks who need to consider it to get in the door. Very nice to see here a paved accessible parking stall right next to the store and a universally accessible ramp as the entry into the building. When I thanked them for making the store accessible because walking across a deep gravel lot like theirs is tough for me (and impossible for wheelchair users) they seemed surprised. :"Do you know we have to do that by law? Make our store accessible to everyone?" LOL....yes, I said, yes I do know that's the law. But you'd be amazed how many farm markets think it is optional. Very nice that they got it right here. Meaning I could get in to spend my money to buy River Bend products. Everyone benefits from equal access.. Friendly people, great fresh products, home made goodies, all people are welcome here access and a beautiful drive yet close to Eugene too. What's not to like? Go!

Great selection of meats, vegetables, fruit, nuts, baked goods, etc... and there is a wonderful old golden retriever running around being friendly too!
