Beware the strict Refund Policy on classes. I emailed using their contact form and received no response. I called and was told I would be out $100 if I cancelled. That seemed to apply even if a waiting list allowed them to fill my spot. I live in Beaverton OR, but had to travel down to Eugene because a loved one was in the hospital down there. As different members were tag teaming staying with relative, it was our turn to hand off and on our way back home, I decided to finally stop at Eugene Textiles. As a weaver and crochet person, I was in both Heaven and Hell. Heaven because the selection of yarns and equipment was a feast for these middle-aged eyes and Hell because I was capable of easily spending a house payment or two. The staff was a tremendous help and I highly recommend this business for any yarn artists. Wonderful experience. read more

Good store for weaving and spinning supplies. Their new location is huge and easy to navigate. Looms and looms. Rooms of looms. Spinning wheels but seemed limited to only a few styles (i.e. no Ashford Country Spinner). Tons of cottons, lots of colors. Many rough, Swedish or Shetland style wools. Plain undyed silk. There are some notable gaps in their yarn selection. Very little merino, merino/silk, cashmere, alpaca, mohair. They did have representatives but if you need more than, say, 500 yards, you're out of luck. No pre-packaged warps. No Saori. Hand dyes were repetitive and limited to single crayola style colors, e.g. red, orange, blue, turquoise, purple, yellow; very few light colors, i.e. no pink, pale green, light blue, pale gray, etc. No nuanced colors or mixes. Prices are easy and they must have bought out some knitting yarn store 'cuz there was a table of balled yarn on sale. Fun to walk around but I'll probably be buying my yarn online. read more

What a great resource to have in Eugene! I took Janis' beginning spinning class today and was so pleased. Janis is very knowledgeable, was well prepared, and went above and beyond in helping those of us who brought our own wheels get them set up and ready for class. The class was well-paced and Janis easily managed all of the different skill levels as we moved through the class. Everyone working in the shop seemed genuinely interested and helpful too. I am looking forward to taking many more classes and shopping at ETC! read more

This place is a fantastic resource center for "fiber addicts". Weavers, spinners, filters, knitters, quilters and more. They offer a variety of classes and even rent work space to use space to dye yarns and fabric. Great gallery exhibits, new every month ..... the list is endless. Customer service is amazing, they even fixed my phone so I could hear it! read more

Updated 2/21/17 We are very lucky to have this great store/ resource/ education center in Eugene. It has definitely improved in looks and variety over the years. Sometimes it can be a little odd to shop there if there is a weaving class going on as the staff is usually both helping with the class and doing the retail, so you may need to just ask for help, if they are really busy. I like that they let me be to just wander about, and they have always been personable enough to me directly. This place is SO much more than a retail store though! The owner is a world class weaver, and she still loves teaching beginning weaving. Other teachers are drawn from both near and far and cover topics from beginning to experienced spinning, weaving, felting, dyeing, etc. They also have a full on dye studio you can rent by the hour. Also they have some equipment such as a picker and an electric carder you can use there or (I believe) rent to take home by the day. I think their prices on used equipment are fair enough--especially as they make sure the things actually work before re-selling them, which is not the case with things bought from individuals over the internet. They get lots of old treasure from estates, and boy can that be dangerous. They also host weekly spinning times and the local handweavers guild. IN THE PAST I sometimes felt some tension between employees as previously mentioned by another reviewer, but it seems to me that creative people do tend to be fairly independently minded, and it never seemed directed at me, so I always just kind of chuckled. Now, though there seem to be enough employees to handle the load and they all seem to be getting along well. Robert is particularly friendly and helpful. Another odd thing is that if they are at a big fiber arts show, the store can be a bit bare because they have taken it to the show, but that is only a few times a year. So, overall, the whole package easily adds up to 5 stars for me. read more

My sister and me took the Intro to Needle Felting Class today. It was FANTASTIC and Sarah did a great job. We had such a great time. The owner came into the class several times to check on us and see how our projects were coming. After the class, Sarah accompanied us into the store and helped us find the felting needles we wanted and made suggestions on various products. The staff in the the store was friendly and helpful too! They pointed out sale areas and were also informed and knowledgeable about the products. We are signed up for a Wet Felting class in August and I cannot wait!! I know it will be great!! Thanks for a wonderful Saturday! read more

This place rocks! I am a spinner, by way of knitting and I have been coming here since their grand opening. Actually, it was their opening I attended thinking, "Oh boy, a new knitting store by my house." While it is not a knitting store perse, it is by far the most fabulous retail place in town to pick up just about anything to do with spinning, weaving, dyeing natural fibres, even the most awesome crazy roving. When I say "crazy roving" I mean it. There is dyed, natural, wool, alpaca, tencel, silk, etc. You name it! They have wheels and wheel parts, looms and loom parts, books, spindles, dye, work tables & classes (even blown glass). I have not attended a class (yet) and I keep meaning to rent a day (you can rent time in their shop and use their equipment!!!) for carding some clean raw wool. Someone, I am so sorry I forgot her name, looked over a new to me, very old wheel I bought and went through it and oiled it and showed me the here to and what for's of it and got me off to a running start with it. The staff has offered a flip through the books on their shelf when I had a question about lace weight yarn (didn't need to buy a book, just needed to see some to get an idea how fine to spin my roving) where most retailers would have rightly said "hey lady, buy the book!" They are sooooo nice, I have never felt like I didn't belong, but I have come in often with less than brilliant questions. This store and these people are what a fibre community should be all about; they are mentors in their field and I am so lucky they are a mile up the road from my house. If you want to meet some really cool ladies that have a lot of knowledge on everything textile related, do yourself a favor and take a little trip to West Eugene and say "hi." I live in Salem and have driven down several times just to come to classes and purchase roving from them. The staff is quick to chat, and knowledgable. The prices are good and comparable. We met the Eugene Textile Center group at Interweave's Yarn Fest in Colorado, so for us, it will be a long-distance relationship but we are so glad we got to know these fine people. Even at the Yarn Fest their selection was the best in the MarketPlace. They had everything we needed but beyond the selection was the knowledge. Very few people have extensive knowledge in art of natural dying of fibers but Janis was a wealth of practical and experienced wisdom when it comes to dying your fibers with all nature has to offer. I was able to purchase all the necessary, and unnecessary, items I needed to get started with my first dying project. The owner, Suzie, was a wealth of knowledge on everything fiber and was always quick to do whatever we needed for us to test products and research the more complex aspects of our fiber addiction. In short, if you are fortunate enough to live close to Eugene's Textile and can shop at their store, well, you are blessed, for those of us who aren't, there is always the internet! read more

Big and odd and inexpensive supply, staff knowledge level is luck of the draw. They are making kits for Handwoven Magazine projects! Dusty but large space in a run-down suburban area. Lots of looms for rent? People seemed to be taking lessons. Giant commercial kitchen (this place must have been a restaurant in a previous life), now available in half-day increments for rent. Great for a big dye class or large spincraft dye run. Where do you find THAT? But the REAL GEM is the "Estate Sales" section, including lots of mystery yarns on cone at very deep discounts, plus lots of used weaving equipment. I scored a very valuable tapestry shedding divice for a song. read more

Wonderful place. The people are so nice and helpful. They spend as much time as possible with you. Very nice selection of yarn. I had ordered a special yarn and they had it in just less then a week. They helped me plan my project etc. I come from 3 states away (15 hour drive) to shop and visit. Lovely place and lovely people. read more

I absolutely love this place! I went in with an idea for a weaving project I wanted to do. I met the owner and she was very welcoming. She helped me get all the materials I needed for my project and even helped me set it all up. I was also offered a workspace where I could work on it and if I needed help I could ask. There was also other people working on projects as well, which was nice. The staff were very nice, accommodating, and informational. They told me about upcoming classes they were offering and sales that were and will be going on. Also there was a great selection of looms, spinning wheels, and everything needed for them. The cool thing is they also have a selection of gently used items which is nice if you want to try something new but don't have the finances to fully commit to a new one. Over all I've loved my experiences I've had at this store and I look forward to going again. read more
