You head to the main area to pick up the buckets and get a parking paper and they give you directions to drive to the trees. When you get there, just park on the side of the road and start picking! U-pick fruit harvesting is fun activity that sort of reconnects you to nature and the "old ways" while letting you bring home the "fruits" of your labor at affordable prices. And being only a 15-20 minute drive out of Eugene, a great way to spend a few hours with friends & family. We spent about 2 hours picking low-hanging cherries (really no need to climb ladders since fruit was so abundant) and got about 10 lbs for $30. The cherries were so fresh, sweet & juicy.......this from "sampling a few" which is also part of the fun of u-pick........that and pit-spittin' contests! The orchard is a laid back place with plenty of other varieties of fruit to pick and/or sample. Or simply just to purchase pre-picked. Different fruits have different "peak" seasons for harvesting so do some research and then go and enjoy nature's bounty. read more

The area was smaller than expected. It is a great place to take lots of pictures for the fall! They had fun activities for kids. Went for the first time yesterday 10/18 for the pick your pumpkin event and it was so packed! Lots of people yet so fun. Next time I recommend going early to find good parking and smaller lines for the activities and food. read more

We've come here in years past and always enjoyed our time until today. In the animal section, there is an Apple launcher where you can pay to launch apples into the area where their cows live. I hadn't noticed this before (although it may have been there in years past). Today we watched a cow and calf get hit by apples flying off the launcher. There was an employee who was monitoring the area but he did not stop the participants from aiming and hitting the cows for a second time. We left right after, this left a terrible taste in our mouths and we will not be back! read more

My girlfriend and I went to the "Cherry Daze" event that went on here at Detering Orchards. It was a u-pick, they had live music, food with cider's/beer made with their Detering produce. It was great! we picked a whole bucket full of cherry's and it came out to $12.00. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something to do outside. read more

Ahh, this place is amazing! We stopped by on our way to the coast for a morning of picking blueberries and green beans. So much fun!! We picked way too many blueberries (hard to resist)! They were so delicious that they ruined store-bought blueberries for me. Very plump and flavorful. The green bean fields were located further down the road. The green beans were just as delicious! Overall, great quality produce, fair prices, and friendly service. This is a beautiful u-pick spot. I can't wait to come back. read more

We came here and actually ended up passing it to pick berries at another location because the signage was a little confusing. Two separate farms back to back. Anyways, we came back to the farm stand and there was a lot of canned goods and a few fresh produce items like berries, beans, potatoes, and a couple more things, but not a huge selection of fresh veggies which I had hoped to find. I grabbed some green beans and a can of salsa ($8.95- a tad Spendy for the size IMO, hopefully it's good) they had lots of flavors and it looks good! For the drive for us it was rather far out of the way. And although there was good signage it was confusing with the other place also having arrows pointing past here so we went there on accident. There was a parking lot and a large play structure area for kids so that is fun. Maybe we will be back but it is very far out for us so we will see when more stuff is in season to make it more worth our long trip. Good if you're more local. read more

We had a blast at Oktoberfest last weekend! Delicious hard cider available on tap ($5.50) & amazing tamales ( $2.99) and hotdogs ($2.50). Free corn maze and great prices at the pumpkin patch. Apples and pears available for U-pick at great prices ($1.12/lb) lots of fresh fruits and veggies available in the farm stand. We stocked up on peppers (3 for $1) and hot sauce ($6) ! Bathroom was clean and has a flushing toilet! Live music and such a good vibe overall. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Visited Detering Orchards recently on a weekend day, needing to get out of Eugene and somewhere with a little better air quality! Our daughter loved seeing the animals out (goats, chickens and cows), though it looked like the goats definitely needed some fresh water. :( There's a playground and picnic tables, so they really seem to cater to the family crowd here. We walked around for a while exploring the grounds and decided on grabbing some U-Pick peaches (Suncrest variety). I really enjoyed the experience of walking through the rows of trees as we picked - it was quiet and pretty. The peaches are delicious! We also got a couple ears of "fresh" corn to take home, which I found later to be very sub-par, tough with lots of shriveled kernels. Overall, we had a good visit; however, I'll probably check out some other farms/stands first before coming back to Detering. read more

Just found out today they take EBT, not all produce places do so that's exciting. Their apples are so good! (From Washington, Apple snob) And so are their pumpkins and walnuts and hazelnuts... their setup can handle a lot of people in a small space which is great for the fun little events they do. It's definitely a buy your food oriented place, which is great for those of us hitting up farms for more than the events. I do love their mechanical bull and cider shack, and my kids adore the playground and critters. (Fluffy chicken shown for example). The staff is always friendly and I'm excited to do the u-pick next year. It's close by and easy to get to, lots of parking, and lovely to look at rain or shine. read more

Detering Orchards is always a fun experience with the family! My favorite time to visit it September-November during fall. Although when it comes to the food there isn't the greatest amount of selection and the lines get long on busy days, The service is always amazing and you can tell that the people working there love their jobs. When it comes to the little ones, the ambiance can be a loud and can get overwhelming quickly (Especially with the long walking distance between places), But they always come out of Detering Orchards with a smile on their faces because of their fun rides and playground. Definitely a family favorite and we try to make an effort to go at least once during fall. read more

Beyond AMAZING!!!! This was our first year and this will be our GO TO pumpkin patch. Every one was so beyond friendly. They have a bull ride, cow ride, apple sling and more so much food and drinks!! Bought a 20$ pie was a total waste of money. Strawberry/ rhubarb and couldn't find a single piece of fruit in it. Just heavy crust and jellied fruit. Skip the pie and stick to pumpkins and apples (also over priced) better products at Costco!!!! read more

Went here last summer (but forgot to review) and loved this place. Picked tons of berries and then loaded up on peaches, which were some of the best I've had. The farmstand sells lots of products, great for gifts. My only objection was that some products are branded with "Detering" but when I looked at the back of the label, it seems like they might come from somewhere else (a different farm in Oregon?), and I prefer buying products that hail directly from that specific farm. Otherwise why drive to the farm? That said, they sell a TON of stuff they grow, so it's only an issue with select items in their shop. And they have the best variety of u-pick I've seen in the area. My friend and I went to Detering Orchards on Sunday. It was an amazing experience. When we got there, they just opened up the second u-pick cherry field. Heck yeah! We picked 10 lbs Lambert cherries and 5 lbs Rainier cherries. They were so firm, like nothing we could find in a local grocery store. Stephen, the field attendance, was so nice. He pointed us to the more heavily fruited trees and explained what to look for when picking fresh eating cherries. After being under the sun for too long, we got couple adult beverages in their new tasting room. Apparently, it was an old barn that just got converted into a lovely looking bar. Loved the hard cherry cider that I got! We also got a basket of apricot and a basket of peach. Both were really yummy and fresh. I couldn't believe it was only a 15 mins drive from Eugene. I will definitely come back more often to pick more fruits. Or just to enjoy a couple ciders. If I'm brave enough one day, I will definitely get on their mechanical bull. read more

Everyone was so friendly and willing to give advice on what flavors would be good for what I was looking for. This was such a fun stop! The playground was so fun for the kids and it was nice to sit on a picnic bench with a glass of their cider while watching them play. We picked up a few of their fresh picked fruit which was all delicious, but my favorite might have been their jarred queso. I've been coming to this farm for three seasons now, and they are consistently the best place to pick fresh produce near Eugene. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the buckets and facilities are clean. Their prices are generous, and the farm itself is beautiful. It's a bit of a drive from south Eugene, but worth it. So far, I've picked tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, peaches, blueberries, green beans, and cherries, and purchased bell peppers, jalapeños, banana peppers, onions, and rhubarb. I've never been to their events - the Cherry Daze or the canning demonstrations - and I probably won't, because I am familiar with making pies and canning. But for the fruit and veggies, I'll visit this place at least half a dozen times during the summer. Great farm! read more

The drive out to the farm is well worth the trip. Nice, helpful staff made finding items easy. Samples were out of delicious peaches, the fresh farm picked ripened fruit you remember as a kid type peaches. Parking is plentiful. Great for kids. August is my favorite month for this adventure. Detering's orchard sure isn't the same as it was a few years ago, I loved going out there it was just a good old fashion farm. Stopped by today what a zoo of signs, signs everywhere, no parking here, dogs on leash, etc. plus they had music blaring it was like Disneyland. Sad that the old timer Mr. Detering passed away. What the family has done to his beautiful orchard / farm sucks. I will never go there again.
