Oh wow, what a delightful experience I had at White Windmill Bakery! As I walked in my first thought was how peaceful and calm this place is. I feel like I never want to leave as I enjoyed the nice jazz playing in the background. I love the calm lighting of the bakery, although alone, I felt like I was on a date. The staff was very friendly and explained to me the many different pastries in the cabinet. I ordered the blueberry cheesecake and a bluberry latte. Both were decadent as well as very pleasing to the eye. I wasn't able to finish in one sitting. I love the arrangement of the place, very spacious. It has a coffee house feel, decorated nicely. Stopped by on a weekday to buy a birthday cake. There were several options in a small or large size and all decorated nicely. The worker answered our questions about the different flavors, but smushed the side of the cake when pushing the flaps of the box closed. The last time I've been here was like seven years ago? I remember us loving their hot, pure matcha latte with milk so much, that the memory of having it lived in our heads for many years. We vowed to go back again if we were ever in the area as we live in Jacksonville, FL now and rarely go to Atlanta. We just happened to be here this weekend and decided to stop by since it was about a 14 minute drive from our hotel. Upon entering, the bakery had a steady traffic of people going in and out. We didn't have to wait long as we were there around 11am and were able to grab all the pastries that we wanted and some more. The line to check out and also same line to order drinks was not too bad. There was a nice, dining space to the right of us that looked cozy. Service was fast, quick, and nice. The workers do seem to be a little bit chaotic though as more traffic came in while we were waiting in line. Here's my thoughts, opinions, and reviews on the items we got. Strawberry cream pastry with fresh strawberries: 8/10 - I'm rating this entirely on the look of it as my husband got one for himself to try. He seemed to enjoyed it so I'm guessing it was delicious. Cornbread: 6.5/10 - I was so excited to try this as I love love cornbread! I love the consistency of traditional cornbread with the slight grittiness and little bits of corn. I love my cornbread sweet as well. This pastry was the opposite of it as while the taste is somewhat there, the texture was off. There were bits of corn in the "pastry" but only a few kernels scattered around. It was also pretty dry but I did love the coffee cake-like crumble on top. I see where they were going with this but they kind of missed the mark. Milk cream bun: 7/10 - the bun had almonds on top and a milk cream filling inside. I had a bite and loved how light and fluffy the filling was. The bun was baked to perfection and was so moist, bouncy, and squishy (in a good way). The touch of almonds on top added a nice texture contrast. We got a few other pastries but I didn't try them all so I can't give a review yet on them. The prices were reasonable for how big the pastries were. We got a blueberry chocolate bun, sausage bun, melon bread, etc. I really love that they have a variety of sweet and savory pastries! Drinks: Fresh kiwi juice: 9/10 - this was tart, cool, and refreshing, especially for a hot summer day. You can see and taste the bits of kiwi. If you don't like fruit pulp, then you might not like this. Some people are weirded out by different textures so unless you like pulp, then I don't suggest you get this drink. It is a bit on the tart side and not sweet. If you love tart and sour flavors, then this would be a good drink to try. Lavender latte: 4/10 - my best friend got this and this was her personal rating. She asked for half of the sweetness but they have her the full sweetness and she could not finish her drink. I don't know if they were just having an off day but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Hot matcha latte: 9/10 - my husband enjoyed his matcha latte and I had a sip of it. The only difference now is that when you ask for a matcha latte, they add espresso. Don't get me wrong, it's still delicious but just a little different now. We were just thrown off by the taste of both matcha and espresso because we assumed it would be a hot matcha latte with just milk. Freshly squeezed orange juice: 9/10 - my other friend got this and she said it was one of the best orange juices that she's ever had. It was fresh, not too overly sweet, had a little bit of pulp, and super refreshing. Overall, I would come back for the pastries and some drinks. A solid place to grab some yummy pastries and drinks! TL;DR: This location seems to be very friendly and have their regulars. Pastries were good, drinks were good. A good place to study or work without being too crowded. Arrival: I had been working in my car for a couple hours waiting for an appointment and finally decided to look around for what was nearby. The strip mall this location sits in doesn't ever seem to get too busy so parking shouldn't be an issue. Getting here from the freeway isn't too bad, but getting back on the freeway requires a bit of a difficult u-turn. Ambiance: Quiet, lighted with soft mood lighting. It's not too dark for working, but dark enough to keep the volume level lower. It wasn't too busy on a Friday afternoon and there is ample space. There is lots of seating, so i can imagine it may not get too crowded being in this specific area. Food/Drinks: I got a curry bun that was still warm and butterfly pea latte. Both were great. The curry bun wasn't soggy and the flavors were perfect and bread was still crispy, it was definitely very fresh. The butterfly pea latte was beautiful. It was a bit hard to stir and very milk heavy, so FYI if you are (and therefore not) lactose intolerant and of the risky variety. They have a wide variety of pastries and desserts which I certainly can appreciate. Overall: It reminds me of the bakeries in SK aside from the ample space they have. This is a cute Korean owned cafe that offers an assortment of pastries. My bf is a coffee connoisseur and he was extremely impressed with the hot white mocha latte. The interior is clean and the owners are incredibly friendly. The only thing I would add is a larger selection of pastries. For such a large location, I definitely thing this could be a great place to meet people because they have so many options for sweets being drink, baked good, cold treats, and tons of seating, more private booths in the back, tablets along the front, and a long barstool table in the middle. Seriously tons of space. I'm curious if this place gets busy in the evening or on the weekends, because I would love to experience the vibe then. It was almost too quiet when I went. There is a huge parking lot in front of here so you probably won't have a problem looking for parking. My coffee and boba were both great! I have absolutely adored the local White Windmill franchise in north ATL for a number of years. The main branch (in Doraville) has the most pastry options out of all the locations. Even though this specific cafe has less of a variety, it is ambient & cozy with warm wood tones, black leathers, and starry stringed ceiling lights. Congestion of crowds is minimal-to-none, here, unlike the main branch. It's a more private feel. Things you should know: I. PARKING White windmill is within the Nukoa Plaza and shares a public parking lot with the surrounding businesses. Finding an available, free, space is no problem. II. SERVICE Friendly. An older gentleman & lovely lady, who seem to own the cafe, serve you and greet you warmly when you enter. They truly pour their hearts into their customer service. III. QUALITY Fresh daily. I've tried various pastries and coffees. They never disappoint. One day, I would enjoy seeing this franchise use different cups for their lattes and beverages than the uncharacteristic paper ones. I think it'll add a little more value and personal touch behind the customer experience. IV. CAPACITY Fair amount of seating on a week day. Crowds are minimal. A fair amount of customers come and go. This bakery was empty when I arrived, but that's no problem after taking a quick glance of the fully stocked baked goods and cake display. Like most Korean bakery places I've been to, White Windmill is very clean and has a nice Starbucks-esque interior design. There are private rooms you can reserve, but are limited to 2-people. I ordered the fruit red bean bingsu and I thought it was better than average. The bingsu had generous amounts of fresh fruits and other toppings. Other bakeries I've been to would only serve shaved ice, some fruit flavored sauce and canned fruits and call it a day. I often avoid getting any cake from Korean bakeries because they tend to be old and taste bland and dry. The disappointing thing is that these Korean bakeries claim all their cakes are baked same-day, but really been sitting in the freezer for days before moving into the display case for who knows how long. However, the strawberry cake tasted light and fresh. Service was great. The older gentleman who took our order was nice to allow us to sit at the private room even though we had 4 people. read more

Although it's a beautiful bakery, the selection was rather weak compared to the other ones I've been to...and here's the main reason why. I felt ripped off with what I ordered. In fact, if management is reading this, he/she SHOULD refund me for it. I mean, just look at this Bingsu that I received...for THIRTEEN DOLLARS. ?!? I ordered their Red Beans Fruit Bingsu...and well, unlike the picture displayed, my Bingsu didn't even have Ice Cream in it...just some Powder (??), along with the fruits. It didn't taste bad, but not great by any stretch (especially compared to what I've had at Arte 3 and Treestory)...and here's the catch. This super-weak, crudely presented Bingsu costed over $13!!! Total RIP OFF. I didn't even bother to eat the whole thing. I was too tired to bitch about it to the Manager (if on duty), so just left. Never again will I come back to this bakery. read more

My go-to cafés for doing work when I'm in the Duluth area are usually Sweet Hut or Coffee By Hand. However, I was wanting something a little bit more intimate and quiet, so I opted for WWB with my friend. The café is tucked away in a shopping center next to Dan Moo Ji and A-Hyang (you should go to both). It is said to be a lot smaller than its counterparts in Doraville and Johns Creek. It has a super modern, dark, and sleek aesthetic.. You can see it in the photos I've attached below. The lighting is a bit dark as well, but it's definitely a part of the whole look: the walls are a darkish grey brick, some parts are a darker wood, same with the seats and tables, even the uniform is all black! We went during 12-1pm, and it wasn't extremely busy. It wasn't extremely loud but not too quiet, and it was pretty pleasant to get some work done there. One of the two things I noticed was that there aren't many outlets available for the seats that are along the walls. The high table in the center has the outlets located underneath the table. We also ordered the bungeoppang, a fished shaped pastry that has a filling. We got the half and half option -- half red bean, and half choux cream. I've been to this location before and have ordered the same thing many times; however, this time around, the bungeoppang barely had any filling inside of them. Maybe it was a bad batch, a bad day, or just a new rule to put less filling? Whatever it is, it was a little disappointing. Of the many Asian bakeries I've visited White Windmill was for sure one of the stand outs. It's clean, quite, and relaxing. All that you could want for a nice lowkey spot to chill at or to study up a bit. The coffee here was great and they had a nice variety of teas as well but what I liked the most were their pastries. I had a huge basket of what I'm sure was taiyaki, I forgot the name of it on the menu but regardless were hitting the spot. White Windmill is a Korean bakery and cafe where you can get a variety of freshly made baked goods and treats, cakes, coffee, tea, and even frozen yogurt. They use Yogojoa brand froyo. They also have a limited sandwich and salad menu if you're looking for a quick and light bite to eat. This White Windmill is not as busy or stocked as the location on Buford Highway. It has a more industrial and chic look with exposed ductwork ceilings, tall private booths, and fancy white couches and cushioned walls. This makes it look more like a Miami nightclub or lounge than a cozy Korean bakery! I like it, though. The two private booths are the most popular spots in the cafe. Good luck grabbing one with your friends. Inside, you can write on the walls and leave your autograph or personal artwork. The bubble teas here start at $3.99, which is substantially more expensive than Quickly, Lollicup, and Mr. Tea House. The iced house coffee here is very good (less than $4) and I'm a big fan of their butter cream bread. They have free Wi-Fi here, but only until 11:30pm. Also, the credit card minimum is $5. This is a much smaller counterpart to the Doraville location but on principle still has the same. A Korean coffee shop/bakery snuggled in the plaza off Steve Reynolds next to Dan Moo Ji Korean cafeteria joint, this place definitely has the makings of greatness. Other reviewers called this the Korean Starbucks we all needed. I would have to agree in terms of what they offer. It's a cozier location with more seating offers such as quardoned off booths, a cluster of leather single seaters, large high farm tables and other seating areas but the lighting is moody and ambient, the staff is friendly, and they offer better looking pastries. Coffee prices are a bit expensive as a large is a 16 oz cup and the Americano is a whopping $3.50. The coffee itself tastes better than the burnt espresso beans from Starbucks but for $.30 more, you get can a Venti which is about 21 oz. What brought this to a 3 star for me was their lack of consistency in hours. The sign said they closed at midnight but I went in around 9:30pm and was told they were closing at 11 pm. The sign specifically said midnight but you're closing because... reasons. That didn't sit too well with me since midnight is what your sign said therefore as a business, you should honor the hours you set so I found that disconcerting. Overall, a decent coffee shop if you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Pleasant Hill. And since it's in Gwinnett and is a part of the White Windmill chain, it's a better offering than the corporate Starbucks. read more

The food and drink selection is similar as well, although I did see a few unique items here. I would definitely visit this location again. Oh. I settled on their Americano regular sized coffee ($2.49), Sweet Potato Manju ($3.99) and a traditional sweet cream bun ($2.99) When I asked what were some of their best sellers for pastries, staff lit up and came from behind the counter with a lot of explanation. The bun was an easy choice, and was soft, slightly sweet and tasty. The sweet potato manju, were described as not quite bread texture and not quite sweet potato either, and in fact, it does taste like a type of breaded outer layer, with a pocket of mashed and pressed sweet potato inside. I love sweet potato dishes, but must be honest that I wasn't a fan of this sadly. The coffee was simply coffee, and not too much in terms of special. White Windmill is another Korean owned bakery, that I wasn't aware that most of their baking happens at their Doraville store, and is shipped out fresh quite often, so sadly some things that you may see on photos may not be there when you pay them a visit. I visited on a Saturday morning and Pro tip, if you want to study, go before 10am Saturday mornings, because there were only two people there studying, in a very quiet store. Located in the Nukoa plaza shopping Center off Steve Reynolds Blvd, White windmill is on the bottom floor and parking isn't a concern at all. Getting in and out of the plaza is really dependent on what time of day it is and how busy Steve Reynolds is, but I didn't have many problems at all.
