When we got there, they said the wait time would be around 30 mins. We waited 45 before we checked again to know they won't be able to serve breakfast menu. The menu changes at 11:30 and at 11:20 they said they won't even be able to take our orders while they were getting the table ready. Amazing and great tasting food. My hubby couldn't stop talking about his burger and how good it was. I had BLT with sausage and ham soup and it was to die for. Even iced tea was great. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try home made tasting food. Staff very friendly too. read more

A local in Mount Shasta recommended this place when we told her we'd be hiking McCloud Waterfall Trail. Hit the cafe early and loaded up on a traditional breakfast with ham, a waffle with Marion Berry syrup (amazing) and a biscuit and gravy side. Loved this tiny little cafe! My parents brought me here because they are known to have great breakfast. We got lucky and came just before the wave of hungry post yoga ladies showed up. Seating is fairly limited here so you have to come early if you plan to get a good seat. My mom and I each got the pomegranate mimosa and it was generously sized and delicious! My eggs benny were also tasty with the hash browns. The ambiance is casual with an old country style feel, and next door is a small gift shop. I would highly recommend the extra miles to get here from Mount Shasta for breakfast. All of the eateries in my small town seem to be lacking quality in the food department. read more

We got a $20 credit to spend here so we paid $5 dollars in addition to our breakfast credit since we stayed at the Mercantile B&B. It opens at 8am. Friendly service. We love the White Mountain Cafe. It has gone through a few owners over the years but the current owners have nailed it. The restaraunt is a great local spot right in downtown McCloud. As a person who has a second home in McCloud I know most locals are not happy with this place like they were under previous ownership. (Read the dates on the reviews to all checking this place out). There always used to be locals in there... Not today.... My dad was served an omelet with cold veggies inside and a brown sliced avocado on top. This does not say you are trying to change and is not a picture you want on Yelp.... We will not be coming back. You need food quality and a warm friendly community feel in there to get locals back. You should take lessons from Scott and Aubrey who used to run this place and who currently run the Shasta View Lodge. read more

A downtown McCloud cafe that has nice booths overlooking clean as a whistle main street and set inside the beautifully refurbished McCloud Merchantile Hotel. This little cafe is a step back in time. Todays special, Chorizo Eggs Benedict, is to die for! Annie, our waitress was awesome as she filled coffee cups and bustled orders to the never empty tables. Our food came quickly, surprisingly, since the place was so packed. Full menu, with lots of originals. Try not to miss the pancakes with fresh berries, a local favorite. Wow, serious disappointment. Something has changed and it is NOT good (new management/owners?). We are not 'locals' but spend a lot of weekends here in the summer camping and the winter snowmobiling, and this restaurant was a 'must do' that we looked forward to on every trip. We knew something was up yesterday when, upon arrival, we noticed a different menu,,,and the attitude of our server was not up to par with our usual experience. Yesterday, my husband decided to try a new item, pastrami with curly fries. When he placed his order, the waitress said, we don't have curly fries. Okay... I ordered the taco salad special of the day written on the board, and when I ordered it, she said, Ill see if we have taco salad. This morning my husband ordered his usual chorizo scramble and noticed it had a fraction of the cheese and chorizo inside. In some places it was completely empty. They forgot his toast, and when the error was pointed out, they returned with two pieces of nearly dry sourdough toast. I ordered menu item 'Capresa scramble',,,eggs, mozzarella, and "house avocado" with a balsamic drizzle...."house avo" had a little asterisk next to it, so I asked, What is house avocado? The server--different and friendlier than yesterday's--said, it's just avocado. When the scramble came, it had no avocado and no balsamic. When I pointed out the error, she brought me a tiny dish with three SLIVERS of brown avocado. I am SO sorry I didn't take a pic of that. AND she handed ME the bottle of balsamic from the kitchen and said I could put it on, and she stood there and waited for me to do so. ARGH. This weekend was the worst food and service experience we have ever had at this restaurant. We sincerely miss our old servers :(. Highly likely we won't be back. Very, very sad. read more

So many places offer breakfast but nobody does it as well as the team at WMC. I have worked my way through the menu this past year and have yet to be disappointed. Today was no exception. Had the Huevos Rancheros but added the carnitas for an extra protein... oh my goodness what a treat. Hard to believe a breakfast spot like this exists in such a quaint and so far off the beaten path hamlet like McCloud. Their recent addition of craft beers and mimosas add another level of wonderfulness. Had our mimosa with pineapple juice for an added plus. And now a word about their house made spuds. You have probably scene this advertised on numerous menus at other breakfast cafes but this is the real deal. Best I can tell they probably boil the chunks of potato, then brown off in fryer and then sauté with butter, red pepper and rosemary. Regardless of preparation the result is one of the most memorable house made "spuds" I've ever sunk my teeth into. And don't even get me started on their house brined and cooked pork belly...OMG it shouldn't be legal. Thank you WMC for making breakfast in our part of Siskiyou county a culinary delight read more

This place is delicious, inviting and just a wonderful small town dining experience. Brunch is so amazing, as is lunch. Last time I visited, I tried the grilled veggie sandwich with a few side salads including a delicious and fresh broccoli salad. The service is always warm and hospitable. I would consider White Mountain Cafe a must do on any northern CA roadtrip. Stop here for breakfast on the way to Burney Falls or Mount Shasta hiking for a perfect day. read more

We arrived about 35 minutes prior to cafe's closing time. At that time, there were only 6 others customers in the restaurant, two of which were paying their bills, and the other four had been served their food and were eating. We sat for five minutes before one of the three waitresses acknowledged us and brought us our menus (no inquiry about whether we would like something to drink). We waiting another 10-15 minutes to order, and finally left as none of the waitresses approached our table again, let alone ask us for our order. This lack of service is understandable if a restaurant is busy, but not good form with so few customers. We walked down the street and had a wonderful lunch. read more
