Chicken sliders and fries
Z B.

I have been going to White Castle for a long time, and this location is usually the one I go to! The service is pretty good. The staff are quick with the orders. They are friendly too. I had no problem with anyone at this location. The food is pretty good as well. I am a big fan of the chicken sliders. The chicken is tender. I like the fries and the onion rings here too! The onion rings are crispy, and the fries have a good taste! All in all, this is a good White Castle location. I will be back here.

Tried the new cheese curds and the container was less than half full. $5 for a medium. Maybe that's standard? Maybe they ran out?

Ordered online, food was ready when I arrived. Tried the new cheese curds which were good, but the container was less than half full when I paid $5 for a medium. Maybe that's standard? Maybe they ran out and didn't want to make more.

The non-meaty goodness of the Impossible Burger!

So their new Impossible Burger is so delicious I had to stop for 2 of them at 2 different locations 2 days in a row! This review is solely based on the Countryside location since this is the one I have a product picture of. I like this specific White Castle, as it is often the one I visit in the middle of the night when I am going from one hospital to the next during my Call shift. I almost always get the same thing: 2 veggie burgers with sweet thai, pickles and microwaved onions(other onions are from the grill). Those little guys are so warm and tasty! It's great to have a veggie option in the middle of the night! The staff is always friendly, although it can often take up to 10 minutes to give me my food. Their fries are okay, but I'm not a fan of hard crinkle fries. I'm still waiting to try their cheese curds, but at 660 calories for a small I can't see wasting my daily on something like that. But oh, those Impossible Burgers are lovely! For those who don't know, they are a plant based patty that actually sizzles and turns red while cooking. The texture is also similar to meat, if my recollection from 18 years ago serves me right. They aren't the prettiest, but they are damn tasty! Each one includes smoked cheddar, grilled onions, and pickles. These aren't the same onions on a normal slider, either. They are thick and plump, and are cooked on the same separate grill as the burger. Each are 4 superb ounces of non-meat goodness. At $1.99 a piece, they are totally worth it as other places that serve a larger Impossible Burgers are places like Kuma's and these go for $15 and up for a 6.0 ounce!(thanks to Michaelangelo for the pic of the Kuma's menu!). Will I return? Oh Ya! And probably after work today!

They don't toss, but give you the sauce on the side, which I was fine with. I asked for blue cheese crumbles, and they put a nice amount. The side salad is huge, and really good for just being a side salad. My only recommendation is that they overload it into a small bowl, so it's hard to eat without it falling out . I recommend a larger bowl. The server was friendly. I gave it 3 stars because it's absolutely filthy! I came right when they opened on a weekday, and the floors weren't cleaned from the night before. Literally food in the corners. Also, the table next to me filled with crumbs. When a group sat there, they wiped all the crumbs with their hand-eek! The table is so grimy that it's literally sticky! If you look at the trim, gate, condiments container, lights, and furniture- you can see loads of dust and grime. This place needs a GOOD clean down!

They have different appetizers and things but not a super extensive menu Do not let these things deter you tho. They're just facts. This place was pretty delicious. Mac n cheese was (I think) the best I've had from a restaurant in a while. I love the type of fries that they pair with the burgers, they were fresh & not too salty. Our burgers were also very good. Apparently they have a new burger/dessert of the week each week so those items do change. They looked like they'd have good drinks too, I'd definitely come back to try. It can be a bummer that it's not a place where you can eat, drink, then hangout a bit so don't expect to be allowed to sit for too long. Service was also very nice

I had the red pepper and cheddar quiche -- delicious! It was light and fluffy and came out in great timing. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the dressing was light -- just enough. But for a premium price, I expect premium product, and this place is rough around the edges in ways that feel easy to fix. I'm pointing them out in hopes they'll be corrected. First the positive - the food was pretty good. Not great for the price, but pretty good. Drip coffee was better than most diners/cafes in the area. The ambience was pleasant. Here's the issues. 1. The furniture needs a refresh and I don't think the place has even been open that long. The side tables by the window are losing their finish - a fragment of wood got caught under my finger nail as I was sitting down and just lightly grazed the table with my hand. I also brushed away a few additional flakes coming up. The chiffon curtains are charming until you look closer and see they're speckled with food from past diners. A moss ball decoration in the bathroom is missing half its moss. All of these decisions speak to choices made for asethetics as inexpensively as possible rather than a clean dining experience. 2. Value for money and food quality are also an issue. $20 for one slice of sourdough cut in half, a rather overdone French omelette with sour cream on top (not mentioned on the menu and a weird choice) a bowl of fruit I wasn't interested in rather than a choice of free side, and sausages I paid extra for, is not good value to me. The bread was good! The omelette was mediocre. The sausage was very solid, had a slight funk to it that I liked and suggested to me it was made in house - but 7 dollars for two sausage patties is absolutely wild. I would suggest Milkstop rethink the combos on its menu to include more and be priced a touch more transparently. 3. Finally, service. Everyone was VERY KIND, again, want to stress that, but service was slow and rather inattentive for most of the meal. The place was only half full, but water and an initial drink order were slow, and I waited for a while for the check while the staff chatted amongst themselves in the corner of the room. Not trying to be a dick, the life of a service worker is tough, but the place was mostly empty and I noticed they already charge a 3% service gratuity on your orders, so I'd expect a little better. Basically this place has a very charming surface with some wonkiness around the edges. I will definitely come back again but guys, come on - ditch the gross chiffon curtains, for both our sakes.

The atmosphere was very "we're better than you," which is ambitious considering half the room looked genetically connected to famine survivors and dock workers. The confidence level in that building deserves scientific study. I walked in expecting casual dining and somehow ended up in what felt like an audition for "Medieval Lords of the Suburbs." The staff acted like they were protecting ancient bloodlines instead of refilling ranch dressing. At one point I honestly wanted to ask: "Sir, are you judging me... while wearing a polo shirt with barbecue sauce on it?" The energy was aggressively holier-than-thou for a place where the main cultural contribution is fried appetizers and vodka seltzer. To be fair, the food was fine. But the side of racial superiority was a little harassing for my ego. Beautiful naturally redheaded bartenders girls though ‍

We sat outside and the menu looks like it has a lot of options. We ordered a couple drinks - a beer that wasn't anything special and a martini that had shimmer in it. I took one sip and never sipped it again. We ordered cheese curds and a burger which came out in 5 minutes after we ordered which was odd. Felt more like a fast food joint. The cheese curds were heavy and greasy and the burger was pretty good. 1 appetizer, a burger, 2 drinks cost us $67, kind of wild in my opinion. Our server seemed like she wanted us gone too as it was the end of the night. Disappointing experience, don't plan on returning.
