This is only the second review I've ever felt compelled to write for a business. As I mentioned in the last review I wrote many years ago, I am "senior" natural body builder and am on a very strict /regimented diet. It is only on RARE occasions that I deviate from that diet, but I really wanted a quality "cheat meal" and I really had a taste for a good Cheeseburger. Living in the La Grange/ Countryside area I knew that there is a huge selection for me to choose from, but as I said, I wanted a really good Cheeseburger. I remembered that years ago I had gotten one from "Buona Beef" and as I seemed to recall it was quite good, so I decided to go there. The restaurant was just as I remembered it and it is still in "like new" and spotless condition as it was those many years ago. The staff was friendly and inviting and I noticed the accommodations both outdoors and indoors were large enough to easily support a large group of people (and they had a large screen TV to keep-up with the latest sports game). Now as I mentioned, I wanted a quality (and great tasting) Cheeseburger and I was not only not disappointed, but thrilled over how good it was! I got it with the "works". It was perfect! The patty was good sized and not "greasy" and I could tell that it was good quality beef. The bun was fresh as were the "toppings" which were perfectly proportioned so I could taste them in every bite. I also got fries to go with it and they were great too! Nice and crispy; not too oily and also perfectly salted. I got the "regular" size which was easily equivalent to a "large" size anywhere else. I found it surprising that a restaurant which is known for their Beef Sandwiches would offer a superior Cheeseburger, but they do! I can only imagine that if their Cheeseburgers (and fries) are that good that the rest of their menu items are just as good. read more

Employees are charging unauthorized tips at multiple locations. Harwood Heights & Countryside. On two separate occasions I was charged a small odd amount for a tip I did not authorize. Both times the employee, one of which was a manager, said that I must have accidentally pressed something. That is impossible because I only tapped my card and to tip under 15% one has to manually put the amount which I did not do. The first time it happened, the tip screen disappeared before I could even select anything. The second time it happened, I never saw a tip screen but somehow I was charged a tip after tapping my card. I do not want anything, but this is obviously a widespread issue & who knows how many customers they've done this to. Since this is such a small amount most customers won't even notice. read more

Ordered their classic buona beef sub with fries and lemonade...and wow it was splendid. Learned they marinate their beef briskets in gravy...now I know what you're thinking whhhatttt??????? Yes and the flavor is amazing. First off the meat is very juicy and the gravy marinade wasn't too thick or salty at all. The bread it came in wasn't soggy at all either and gave it the perfect crisp and soft texture to each bite. I didn't realize you can add bell peppers and onions to the sub so ordered it just as is but the flavor was still amazing. I often go here and do the drive through and or curbside pickup. I recently decided to go inside and eat because I was really hungry and I didn't want to eat inside the car. Going through the drive through is usually a pretty quick experience and the customer service is usually GREAT. Going inside the restaurant was a bit different, the cashier was really nice. The restaurant was spacious, bright and clean but my experience after sitting down was a bit DIFFERENT. One of the workers, I presume she cleans the tables; kept walking past my table, every few seconds, and looking at my table. It made my experience a bit odd, I'm not complaining just mentioning it made my experience a bit different. Otherwise it wasn't a bad experience. Love Buona so much! We were so excited when one was opening close to home, however, this location has only been disappointing. My parents went for their first visit and were disappointed at the lack of beef on the sandwich and how dry the sandwich was (they didn't ask for it without juice). Was excited when I knew of this new location and the fact that it had a drive through. I placed an order for three large beefy sandwiches with cheese cheese last Sunday through drive-thru. Got home and to my surprise they didn't have cheese. Was disappointed, called the location and when I asked to speak to a manager they hung up. Called again and they were hesitant to get me the manager. After waiting for a while I spoke to manager and he stated they would issue me a $10 credit, never received credit. I understand that errors happen but when you spending over $72 dollars in food they should at least honor credit and ensure accuracy. Very bad customer experience at this location. read more

The service at this location is so bad its comical. I went through the drive thru I placed my order and I was told to pull around to the side and someone will bring it out. After waiting 20 minutes I leave my car parked there and walked into the restaurant and asked where is my order. She said she is sorry so I wait and then she hands me one bag and I said I don't think its all here and I repeat what I ordered and she say no its all in one bag. I drive home the bag soaked through the bottom because she wasn't bright enough to put the sandwiches right side up and all the beef juice leaked out of the plastic sleeves because she put them in upside down now I have a nice stain on my carpeting in my car and to top it all off.... I choked so hard putting that first piece in my mouth that I didn't even want the rest. Salads really aren't that hard to prepare and it was still inedible. My boyfriend ordered the Italian beef combo and a chicken sandwich. Idk if it was the chicken or the beef but it had him in the bathroom for 2 days. Never again will this location get our business . We ordered takeout and when we got home noticed they left out one of our beefs, so we called and they were so apologetic and compensated us with the replacement beef, a refund for the beef that was missed and a voucher for a free beef in the future. One of the best things about Buona, and some of you may disagree, is that their fry portions are not too big. I never feel gross after eating a normal order of fries here. Anytime I've ordered from here, the food has been delicious and their staff is always friendly. Some of my favorite items are the roasted veggie pizza, chicken Caesar salad, cheese fries and, of course, the beef sandwiches. The last time I visited, there was a minor issue with my order. Overall, I'm basically happy with the food I have gotten from Buona. That said, some of the portions seem to be a little on the small side. The bread used for the beef sandwiches seems to be smaller in diameter than what one receives at other beef sandwich venues. Less bread = less beef on the sandwich. The "Chicago-style dog" has all the proper ingredients but the proportions are a little off. The actual hotdog seems to be smaller in diameter than what is normally served at other restaurant like Portillo's. And the pickle is as large as the hotdog which is a bit overpowering to the taste.
