Burgers and buns steamed grilled on a bed of chopped onions. And you can stuff one after another in our mouth whole. Genius. The "Chateau Blanc" is a family owned business. All locations are company owned, no franchises. In the few clean stores I've been in, the experience is pure burger/onion bliss. The dirty ones are too many. This one is relatively clean. One of the menu items is a Crave Case, filled with 30 of these little devils. I could eat 15 or 20, I think. And LOVE the onion chips. They serve breakfast but...why? You can buy them frozen in the store, but again, why? Easy to replicate the process at home: chop, pile, assemble, eat. Try it with King's Hawaiian bread. I always take out of town guests to a (clean) Castle. Most are impressed, as long as them don't hate any hamburgers or onions. read more

To begin with, I would like to say that every time I eat food at White Castle, I get terribly sick. The food is greasy and the smell is horrific. A few months ago I decided to sit down at a White Castle. Biggest mistake of my life.. When I went to the restaurant it was extremely filthy and slimy. Being in there made me feel like I hadn't showered in weeks. Speaking of uncleanliness.... The waiters and waitresses smelled and looked like they had never even considered stepping into a shower not once in their lives! They stunk up the whole restaurant and with the food, ruined my whole experience. If you ever consider going to your local White Castle, make sure to have a gas mask on hand, although, I would not recommend going in the first place. read more

Just for the drive thru experience. I've been to WC plenty of times in my life, so I know what I'm getting. 3 stars because I'm comparing it on a scale of equal competitors. There's always a swerving of obstacles in the lot and drive thru lane. Mostly garbage, but you never know, and don't want to chance running over it. Example would be the car I saw run over a pretty full warm chocolate shake, that splattered onto his car. Customer service is always lackluster. You know the attitude I speak of. From the payment window, where they look at you like it's beneath them to hand you 2 cents change. The pick up window, where they are so quick to close it before you find what you may have been shorted. The food is NEVER like what you see in a picture. Sandwiches slid into boxes, are often disassembled upon entry. It's usually fast because it's been cooked, waiting for you to order it. Try to order something irregular for fresh hot choices. My recent venture for a try at the breakfast menu did not disappoint my expectations. However I was pleased with the amount of bacon, and the fully cooked quality. Getting it on the toast was as I expected. slightly warm bread. I guess I need to request double toasted. The contents were all in one corner, as if it should have been on a slider bun. Listen WC is not my go to. They truly got it right when they slogan'd it "What you Crave". I do not visit until it is what I crave. Breakfast was ordinary, and for $2 sandwich, I can keep it on my lazy list with no great expectations. I do wonder what the Valentines Day tablecloth and table service is like. Fuck you Harold and Kumar, you almost killed me. After last call, I told the group we were drinking with that I'd never partaken of the famous burger joint even though I loved the movie. My sister ordered for herself and added on one burger for moi. A measly 61 cents? Why so cheap? I'll tell you why. Because it tastes like shit. Like limp, moldy steamed shit. I had two bites - TWO - and refused to eat the rest. One of the guys in the group chuckled and asked me, "Ever had Moctezuma's Revenge?" And when I told him not for decades his chuckle turned into a cackle when he said, "White Castle is even worse." I scoffed. I mean, two bites...please. Then, after an hour, those two bites proved more effective than a box full of ExLax. But hey, I'm a trooper. I went to bed confident that the bout had passed and I'd be fine. However, White Castle was not through with me yet. After sleeping for hours, before even eating a bite, I started having another attack of the bubble guts. I asked my cousin if it was possible that those two fateful bites could be the culprit. "Wait, you actually went to White Castle? Shit, Libby. I thought you were joking. Everyone knows that that place is a guaranteed pain in the ass....literally." I spent the next hour hydrating and checking for my Immodium and cursing those two guys and that movie that made me think I should have a taste of fame. Ewwww, absolutely the most disgusting little "hamburgers" imagineable. They stink up your car, your hands smell of them for hours, the "meat" has a quite unique gelatinous quality... Gross. The chicken rings and onion petals are alright though, and I have to admit I really like their barbecue sauce. I am not a fan of White Castle but this is my favorite location. The staff are prompt and polite and curious. The food tastes halfway decent....depending on what you like. It's not a allergy-friendly menu for those gluten free, though--just a heads up. read more

I am glad to say that this is my second time eating a White Castle burger and I loved every 5 seconds of it!! First time around I was in Chicago and being on some weird foodie thing, I chose to get a chicken burger instead one of a white castle. What was I thinking?!! Determined to try it again, it happened here in Columbus many years later. I ordered a cheeseburger and jalepeno cheeseburger for me, and 3 for the hubby. After eating my two in 10 seconds at the airport, I was so mad to think that 2 would have satisfied me. I was to eat my husband's share, but with his equal excitement about White Castle, I think he would have divorced me if I ate his... A White Castle burger is just the right size of meaty, cheesey, and oniony goodness. And comon, aren't those cute little paper boxes that it comes in are just so darn clever?! read more

A few years ago I worked for a company with headquarters on Wall Street and had the pleasure of visiting NYC on a regular basis, one of my guilty pleasures was White Castle. I found myself in Columbus on a business trip and as I was driving to my hotel I spied an exit sign with the White Castle logo on it. I almost forgot that I was in White Castle country. I diverted off the exit ramp and bought a bag of the little sliders. I know that many people think these things are gross, but heck if they are good enough for Harold and Kumar then they are good enough for me. Back in Texas we have an imitation chain that tries to copy White Castle, but they don't even come close....would someone please open one of these in Houston. I know enough people that would make this their home after a night out at the pubs. read more

My first experience at White Castle was not a good one. The burgers just didn't do it for me. We tried a beef slider, chicken slider, and fish slider. I would eat the fish again but the others basically made me sick to my stomach. Maybe I expected too much. Writing this saddens me. read more

Whitey Castile's Rectum Rockets, as my friend Sean calls them. When he says that, I giggle and say, "Rectum!? Damn near killed'em!" This is THE original fast food chain restaurant, dating back to the early days of eating in cars. They serve up tiny little square perforated hamburgers that are sizzled on a grill over lightly sauteed onions, and the buns are placed on top to steam in the meat and onion vapors. If you've never been, be sure to get drunk and then go get some when you are in White Castle country. I suppose you could buy the frozen product and try them at home but I think that would be like going to Vegas to see the Eiffel Tower. In any case, remember: I said GET DRUNK FIRST. When I was a 'tween' my sister and i took our first driving trip into queens sans parents after she got her license. Destination. White Castle. We are huge beastie boy fans and often ate here to feel one with the band. Lame. 22 years later I visited the spot on high street for an equally superficial reason, i wanted a family guy cup with stewie on it for my collection of fast food cartoon beverage containers. I still have my brainy smurf glass from Hardee's. I ordered a large hi-c which mixed well in the fountain not to watery or to sweet, but still pretty gross. I also tried the onion rings which i must admit were awesome. They were really thin and not to salty. When the weather gets warm I've often noticed a decent crowd hanging out on the patio in front and every once in awhile a jam session breaks out. If they ever offer a cup with danger mouse on it (another cartoon favorite) i just might join the crowd. read more
