I love White Castles, period. The jalapeno sliders are the best hamburgers known to man! I usually pull up and order the number 1 (4 whities, 1 fry, 1 coke), but then I talk myself into the number 3 all the time (10 whities, 2 fries, 2 cokes). I know....you don't even have to say it....I'm ashamed... I have been slowly weening my way off of them for the past couple months. Last summer, I used to have them every night. My routine was go out, get hammered, roll to White Castles, pass out, wake up, finish the rest of the sliders for breakfast and then repeat. Now, I never make it there. I tried being sneaky about 3 or 4 weeks ago and pulled into the drive-through...but my girlfriend caught me and she wasn't too happy that I did it. Food - 3 Service - 3 Ambience - 2 Definitely went here for the simple fact that we don't have any White Castles in Cali. I'm a sucker for trying out regional fast food establishments. The sliders were tastier than I expected and definitely more filling than one would think given their diminutive size. My friend and I shared the 4 burger meal and even though I didn't partake in any of the fries, I still felt full. I also had a bite of the spicy burger (courtesy of the Pepperjack cheese) that the Hubby ordered. It was quite delish as well. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit another White Castle (as we did this time), but I would definitely welcome a stop if we find ourselves near another one in the future. What I Crave about twice a year! I'm fortunate not to journey to crazy parts of the city to enjoy my White Castle. Usually I go after watching movies until late night or reading books until the early morning. The service at this location SUCKS but I guess if I work there I would be in a pissy mood after smelling like onions all day. Do not slur your speech when you order here, and also speak up, or you will be checked by the lady who works there. Luckily, they do a good good without screwing up your order there (I order some complicated shit sometimes) Big parking lot but would not recommend you hanging out there to make friends. I ADORE White Castles. I know you'd shoot me, but when I want a burger, I want a White Castle. I do not want that microwaved frozen crap, it just doesn't taste quite the same. Since we are finally down the road from one, we go way too often, and it's still way amazing. I like that they have Coke Zero in the soda fountain so you can still have soda without the calories or "diet" taste. The workers at this location have always been polite with us as well. Don't watch Harold & Kumar go to White Castle when you live 16 hours away though. We could taste the little heavens just watching it, and then were stuck with McDonald's, hmph. read more

I probably spend way too much money here. The staff always has been friendly and they are always under staffed during the busy hours. I appreciate their efforts. They normally do great job with the burgers. The quality is consistent. However, i can not say the same thing for the fries. Once in a while i get that saggy fries . I do suggest ordering the burger without cheese because I went there and ordered the #9 for my family and they charged $7 extra dollars to put cheese on the burgers and we were not informed about this. The burgers are small and square and have pickles and caramelized onions on it. The mozzarella sticks were very good, the chicken rings not so much. For those who have never experienced White Castle, know that the place is a lot like Marmite - you either love it or you hate it. I am afraid that, in light of Nicki C's damning review, I must, as a life long WC junkie, respectfully make this rebuttal. While, I cannot honestly refute any of her claims, please consider the following: Eating at White Castle is the culinary and gastronomical equivalent of Base Jumping. It is a thrilling experience, that if not adequately prepared for, can result in death. When going to WC, all the so called "disgusting" aspects of the experience, including Cooties work to enhance, not detract from the overall joy that is White Castle food. Also, to eat White Castle while sober, is dangerous. The antiseptic properties of alcohol give the person the necessary extra protection, not to mention the only acceptable excuse for frequenting the joint. My studies show that men seem to require this extra protection less them women and actually view the indigestion as a bag of honor. In the mind of the average male. White Castle gives a certain degree of societal acceptance to public flatulence, an excuse to break wind in the mall, if you will. Not that I know this personally "Per Se", but my research has uncovered findings to this effect. read more

It seems that you either love or hate white castle. If you grew up with it you're more likely to like it, but if you're trying it for the first time when you're older chances are you'll find it gross. Personally I love White Castle. People label it as a drunk food, because late at night most people inside are drunk or stoned. But it's even good when you're sober, seriously. White Castle, you are what you are. Not healthy, but delicious. I wouldn't normally "review" White Castle, since most people know exactly what they're getting. The reason why I'm writing a 5 star review though is because of this location's awesome customer service. Scenario: My friend and I had rented a car and were coming back into the city in order to return it. We stopped at this White Castle on the way since it had been months/years since either had eaten one of their "sliders". The entire process was great: we got our food via drivethru, left to return the rental car, and then proceeded to my Friend's apartment to devour our food. Problem: 1/2 of the food we ordered and paid for was missing and we had no car to return to the location to retrieve the rest of our meal. Solution: We called the White Castle disappointed in order to ask about a refund. The manager offered to DRIVE the food out to us herself and threw in an extra 2 fudge dipped cheesecakes (amazing foodstuff btw). All in all, what could've been a very disappointing afternoon ended up with me having a new-found appreciation for customer service. Even though the initial mistake was theirs, they went above and beyond to fix things. Good customer service like that deserves 5 stars. Even if my stomach after the fact disagrees! read more

Seems silly to review this, but this was my first time here and they don't have these where I'm from. The little slider burgers don't taste much like burgers, but more like a cheap shredded beef steak and cheese. They are tiny, but tasty enough. I just had White Castle last night. My brother was sick already and his logic is "You might as well eat some sliders if you already have the shits...it's the perfect time!" He is a genius. I'm a little sad that they don't have the French Onion Sliders anymore (they were for a limited time). The jalepeno sliders are awesome, but nothing beats the original sliders. When I was in NYC, I was happy to find out they had White Castles there too (but they put ketchup on them...gross!). If you get 30, they come in a briefcase-like Crave Case. The ushers at Shea Stadium don't care if you bring a Crave Case in either, so that's a plus. But the CHICAGO ones are better, because they don't have ketchup. It's addition by subtraction! read more

Inspired by Harold and Kumar movie, us college grads decided to give this place a try for a midnight snack. We walked ~20mins to this place from our hotel and it was a scary experience. Very dark, nobody else was on the streets and small businesses with extra security features (covering windows and entrances). The food was ok. Those miniature burgers can fill you up if you order a lot so try not to push your limit. The burger and bacon fries tasted not so good w/out the cheese so pay up and add the cheese.The customer service, however, was horrible. Our server was particularly impatient as he kept on saying "y'all ready? I'm leaving in 10mins!" I thought it was very unprofessional and he seemed to be upset by out presence. News flash - we are tourists, we never been to White Castle before since we live in west coast - how about be professional and attentive for a change? I would have given 4 stars if it weren't for the rude employees. They have no tables. It's basically order and pick up place. Of course the first place I stepped foot in after landing in Chicago was White Castle. Here in Miami all we have are the frozen packs from 7 Eleven or Publix (if you're lucky). You can order them in single/double, cheese/cheeseless variations, they also offer fish & chicken sandwiches. If you are onion-phobic, you should not even consider this place, as grilling on a bed of onions is what gives White Castle burgers their signature flavor. This is based on my 1st trip to White Castle. Not being from a White Castle producing region of the country, I was excited about going based on the recommendation of a friend. I arrive at said White Castle and immediately think, this place looks questionable.... My friend won't eat at a place that looks questionable, how did he ever eat at White Castle? I then enter the establishment and take a look around. It is of average cleanliness. There are three people in the restaurant. 2 guys, who are in their 40's, have just ordered and are waiting for their meal, which I later find out is a "Crave Case" or 30 sliders. I think this would be more appropriately marketed as death in a box. The other person is a crazy old man.... No, really. He is heckling fast food workers. He is laughing manically and talking to everyone and no one at the same time. At one point he takes 50 pepper packets and explains to me that he doesn't see that as stealing because they charge 85 cents for a cup of coffee. He regales me with tales of all the things he takes and does not consider stealing... salt, pepper, cream, sugar, sweet and low, napkins, I could go on and on, and he did. I fight my way past him and get to the counter. I order 2 cheeseburgers with no pickles, cheese fries, and a sprite. I know this differs from my friend's instructed menu, but I did not think it would be fair to have pickles on them as I hate pickles and felt it would bias me. I was also instructed to order a "mix" drink, but I did not see a "mix" drink on the menu and was afraid that this was another cruel trick to make me look stupid. After about 10 minutes of waiting and trying to avoid eye contact with the crazy old man (which did not slow him down at all) I was given my tray. I sat down at a close table and eyed my diner for the evening. I picked up one of the burgers and carefully reviewed the look. Small square biscuit like bun, paper thin piece of meat, cheese, and lots of onions. I tentatively took a bite and immediately noticed the bun has a soft squishy consistency like it had been steamed for a long time. The overall taste could be described as slightly salty with a little bite from the onion (I guess). I immediately wished I was drunk.... Not just had a couple, but stumbling, slurring, etc. And I wished this because I immediately recognized this as drunk food. Is it good? Not really. Is it greasy, messy (cheese fries) and incredibly bad for you? Absolutely. I can see how people get hooked on these. There is a certain distinct, not really good, but distinct taste and look to the place that screams late night or cheap food. Two days later I find myself both, not really liking the meal, but wanting to go back. My ratings are as follows - Sober and while I am there I give the place a C or C-. Two days later it has mysteriously improved to a B- and if I had been drinking it be a B+. We will have to see if I am able to stay away over the next 2-3 weeks. read more

White Castle is the BEST FAST FOOD place ever. Unfortunately I live all the way in California so they don't have any near me. I was in Chicago for a soccer tournament so my family stopped by this place. The food taste so much better then the microwavable burgers. There sliders are so damn delicious. Plus they got a good variety of sliders. You gotta love how they make the resteraunt look like a castle. The atmosphere & service is very nice. If you ever in the area try White Castle! read more

i never thought i would like white castle because it just didn't look appetizing to me but i have been recently converted and it is what i crave now (sometimes). during lent, i ate their fish sandwiches. they were pretty tasty. and recently, i tried their french onion burger or whatever they're called. also, pretty tasty. along with those, my bf and i also always get some of their jalapeno cheeseburgers and the purple drink. i give it 4 out of 5 stars because white castle is good to have once in awhile but i wouldn't be able to have it often. read more
