People usually only leave negative reviews about fast food restaurants. I am of the mind that you should give credit or credit is due... so I'm giving credit to the young man working at this location on 8/17 at 7:30 PM. He was polite and attentive when taking my order at the counter, and then while I was waiting for my food, I noticed that he was really the fabric that was holding the entire operation together. Had on a swivel and really getting things done. The sliders here were really good. Notably better than other white castles I have been to. Great experience all around. I try to get to this location anytime and I'm in Ann Arbor. Five out of 5 foot highly recommend a visit especially late night after some drinks perhaps? Or anytime for that matter. read more

White Castle - Menu - Fast Food Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I'll start out by saying staff were wonderful and welcoming. There was only another gentleman at the time I came yesterday. I did not eat anything all day and planned to pickup these sliders for a treat after my run. I ordered the Shareable Meal #9. It includes 10 sliders (I asked to add cheese on them), a sack of chicken rings, and a sack of fries. The wait was not long at all. My order included napkins, but I failed to ask for any condiments. I'm so used to being asked back in San Jose. While the sliders were ok, I could not enjoy the fries or chicken rings because it was dry for me. It is a very inexpensive meal meant to be shared by 2-3 people. I was very hungry, so I assumed what I ordered will do the trick, but I could not finish it hence, I DoorDashed from Slurping Turtle to the hotel after my last meeting. Glad to try it finally though. read more

This is White Castle. It may not be the White Castle of my childhood, but who knows? Memories of my childhood are not as strong as they used to be. First of all, I have been here a few times, but I never order at the counter; I always order at the drive-through. So I cannot comment on the quality of the dining room environment. The staff are always pretty efficient and polite (most of the time - the other times, a few of them have seemed like they just wanted to go home.) The food choices are the same, with the introduction of chicken and fish. I honestly cannot recall having that before. The fries are good, and I would advise just skipping the onion "chips" (not rings - chips.) Yes, I will be back. After all, I am only in Ann Arbor 3 or 4 times a year, and nostalgia usually rules the day. read more

Had a nostalgic moment and went to White Castle during daylight hours as the only other times we did a White Castle run was during our college years after bars closed at 2am. I wanted to see if anything had changed over the decades since my last White Castle run. I ordered the fish sliders combo meal and paid around $10 or $11 foe this meal. The fish sliders were on a bun that was approximately a 2" x 2". Whaaat? So tiny! The sliders had a decent seasoning, but each slider was 2 or 3 bites and it was gone. Fries were lukewarm at best. My flashback in time, made me think, was it really like this back in the day? If so, I now realize why it has been decades since my last visit to a White Castle. Sorry folks, not my cup of tea... read more

SOOOOO amazing! I stopped by this White Castle before I donated blood this weekend--I got a small chocolate shake and a small fry and it really hit the spot! Nothing else was open, but White Castle had my back. The service was great and the drive-thru server was really helpful; I had questions about the sizes and she was super patient and kind. She even gave me a free ranch sauce! I didn't go inside but this was the best drive-thru experience I've had in a while. The shake was, of course, scrumptiously sweet and they have the best crinkle fries of any fast food place. It was only $6 and if you fill out the survey you get two free sliders !! I'll be back, White Castle!!!! read more

White Castle - Small chocolate shake, small french fries, and a ranch packet - Fast Food Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I don't care what the haters say, White Castle lived up the the hype for me. Before coming here, I only had tried the frozen ones. A fan of those as well if a craving is in order. Anyways, I got sliders with cheese and without. I will say with cheese is a lot better. More moist and delicious. I love the crinkle fries as well. It's fast food though people, take it for what it is and appreciate it. With the onions and cheese the sliders are a staple for me. I ate 4 very quickly, could probably eat more. Cheap and delicious what more can you ask for? read more

Never been doing White Castle before we don't have white castles in California. I had the four single white castle combo with fries and a soda it was very good. Typical fast food joint you walk up and you make your order they call your name out and that's the service. The ambience is just like any other fast food restaurant , it was clean. read more

This restaurant was unbelievably slow. Took almost 10 minutes for them to take our order and we were first in line. Almost 30 min to get our "fast food". Bathroom out of TP and messy. Management must be to blame. Would not return. read more

Growing up in Michigan, I was no stranger to the "original" slider. White Castle is an icon in the metro Detroit area and whenever I'm back in town, I always try and stop by for 6-7 "white castles" to get my fix. I don't order anything else in the menu (unless it's breakfast time) except the original. No need to ruin a perfectly delicious slider with adding anything that it come with. So, toss out the idea of adding ketchup, mustard or even cheese for that matter. (Way taboo!!!). The grills are smothered with onions and then frozen slider pattys are laid gently over the sweating onions with buns placed on top to soften, warm up and absorb all the flavorful goodness in that steam. Trust me, this is the pinnacle of fast food junk food but I can't stay away!! read more

White Castle - a hand holding a white castle card - Fast Food Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I've saved a doozie for my (currently) 650th review. I was pretty young when the original (for Ann Arbor) White Castle was built on this very spot. Back then it was something of a novelty, and through the glass window we could watch the cooks placing the small, thin square patties that were perforated to facilitate fast (via steam) cooking on the griddle with finely diced reconstituted onions. Then they'd shovel it up, squeeze them between the unique buns and shove them into the open-topped box sleeves. The good 'ol days.... Then, I remember the faux nostalgia radio commercials. How some college kids drove 500 miles just because they craved White Castle (hogwash I say). And they sell them frozen. They still do? Yep. New building, been well over 25 years and I just had to show my gf what an actual White Castle looks and tastes like. And this is the tale of the bizarre encounter that ensued: we got into line and while not long it didn't move. One guy in front of us was joking about the place then suddenly left. I couldn't figure out if he gave up trying to order or if the food took too long to make. Somehow we advanced to the counter and someone in the back yelled at someone we couldn't see that there were people at the register. After a while a lady who looked like she couldn't be bothered appeared and we placed our order. Meanwhile in the back it was the strangest thing I've ever seen: The employees were working but in their own bubble and with expressions of just wanting to ride out the clock. Nobody spoke, joked or anything. Then, a guy popped out and placed a promo sign on the wall, askew I might add, and the same lady who took our order, the manager apparently, also popped out and immediately bagged on the poor guy's handiwork. All this entertainment except it wasn't really funny, more like a glimpse into dysfunction. The food eventually appeared and while it was fun to get "sliders" (that's how they rebranded their crappy little burgers) fresh it has to rank as the most bizarre dining experience to date. read more

Easily a four or more. We don't have White Castle back home and I've been waiting to try them for years and years and boy they didn't disappoint. Invariably most people will compare White Castle to the other guys and well, I found White Castle to be so much better. I can't really put my finger on it other than to say they were cheesier and had more onions bits and we're more substantive if that's a word. I feel sorry for the suckers behind me because I ordered a sack of em' that took at least 10 minutes to come out and by the time I left there was a ridiculously long line behind me. Heads up too, be careful pulling away after you've grabbed your sack because people like cutting through the parking lot like it's some kind of racetrack to avoid waiting at the light on the corner. Pfft. read more

This white castle has been in this location for what seems like forever. I've come here when I was kid and I've come here after a night of drinking. Sometimes the sliders just hit the spot. This location is ALWAYS busy. I'm talking like 5 cars in line busy. Which normally wouldn't be too bad but they're always so slow which is why the cars are so backed up. They've always gotten my order correct and everything has always been good, they just take a year and a half to complete it. At the end of the day this is still just a fast food place and you can't expect much. read more

White Castle - Crave case 30 original sliders - Fast Food Near Me - Ann Arbor, Michigan

I have heard that White Castle has crazy fans. People who drive long-distance and bring white castles home on an airplane! I wondered what all the hype is about. So I came into possession of a coupon that would give me a free chicken slider, which could either be fried or grilled with the purchase of either another chicken slider or a veggie slider. I know, I know this stuff is not good but with the lure of something free I went to White Castle today. I chose to go through the drive-through. And when I pulled up and started talking about getting a grilled chicken sandwich I was told that they don't do grilled sliders. Well there goes the diet! So I started into a conversation about the french fries. Were they the wavy kind or were they the straight thin kind like McDonald's serves I asked. I was told they were not wavy they were the straight smooth like McDonald's. OK so I will go ahead and have the fried chicken slider, veggie slider, an order of fries and a small Diet Coke. When I get up to the window I'm told that would be $7.49. I reminded them I had the coupon and gave them the coupon. There was a bit of huddling going on behind the counter about this coupon. But eventually they came back and told me that my bill would be $5.37. Paid. So I get my bag of food and drive off. My hand goes in to get a french fry and I pull out a wavy limp french fry. Bummer! So I go for the chicken sandwich. They are tiny, they are sliders after all. It was nothing to write home about. I bet if you had been drinking all evening and were starving it would be excellent, but not at 11 AM. Then I reach in my bag to get my veggie slider. It looks like chicken on the outside. I take a bite, indeed it is another chicken slider! However I must say the diet Coke was just as you would expect. The diet Coke was the best part of the meal. Well so now I have been to White Castle. No more wondering if I am missing out on culinary excellence. I was not. read more

Beware! While waiting in the drive thru line, an employee came to the first window asked me for payment on my order. (Payment is usually taken at second window.) I paid $10 in cash for a $6.36 order. When I pulled up to the second window, I was only given my food order, my change of $3.64 was NEVER given nor my receipt. Because I had waited in line a long time, I had forgot about my change and pulled away after I had received my food order. DO NOT PAY AT THE FIRST WINDOW!! read more

Their food is still the same, but what drives me nuts is their slowness in service and food prep!! I had ordered online for a pickup at 1:10pm, I got there at 1:15pm, waited 5 minutes before the cashier came up because the cashier was also cooking burgers. I told them I had online order, they couldn't find it and after few minutes they found the order - the order printout was still on the printer!!!!! So yup, the food wasn't ready, they started to make it when we checked in, smh!!!! Then had to wait 20 extra minutes for 16 sliders, 2 orders of fries and 2 drinks. So what's the purpose of ordering online when the order won't be ready???? The annoying part was, they kept fulfilling other people's order that ordered after us!!!! It'll take a lot of convincing to have me revisit!! read more

I pulled in, not expecting much, and to start off, I get to the pay window, and the person doesn't even say hello. While I get that fast food is on another level these days, c'mon! A simple hello goes a long way! She did say your welcome after I said thanks for my change. I ordered a sack of clams and an onion chip. Two fish sandwiches. That's all. It took roughly ten minutes for my order. (And there wasn't anyone in front of me, but you have to add wait time for online orders.) I give it to White Castle as your food does come pipin hot! The one thing you can always count on. The clams are actually quite good, the rest? Not My cup of tea. Price is moderate for a meal-13.67 for my four items. No drink. I was asked if I wanted tarter and other condiments-and I'm happy they didn't forget. Quite generous with those. The girl was very kind at the end. read more

Stopped here for our first time in Michigan, never had before! Food itself is decent but we waited for over 30 minutes and there were very few employees working and huge lines both inside and in the drive through. Wouldn't stop here if you're looking for FAST food UPDATE: half of our order is wrong. We ended up with over 4x the regulars and we had ordered a variety of different ones Not pleased read more

What in the world? How is this place in business? The cashier is rude. No idea if he heard my order or not (they did get it right at least). The wait was LITERALLY THIRTY MINUTES. This is **insane**. Why? Because of what I'm going to write below. The sliders are... **A joke**. A complete joke. I've never been to white castle before and had moderate expectations, especially after that one movie. Well, let me tell you. They are plain old Hawaiian rolls from the grocery store, sliced in half, with a pickle (A SINGLE PICKLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SLIDER!!!), a slice of "cheese", and a patty that is two millimeters thick and tastes like liver. Yes, I wrote that right. Beef liver. I have had it. It's not good. THIRTY MINUTES TO PUT A PIECE OF GARBAGE PATTY AND A PICKLE AND A PIECE OF CHEESE, IN BETWEEN A HAWAIIAN ROLL. Give me a break. This place should go out of business. It's truly the worst "slider" or "burger" I've ever had, topped off by employees that don't care and don't want to be there. This speaks to what management believes about the organization. THIRTY! THIRTY MINUTES FOR THIS TRASH! I don't even care about the money. I wish I could get my time back, and the space in my stomach. read more

I don't eat meat, but am giving them 4 stars only because they even offer a veggie burger. It's okay, certainly not the best I've ever had. Pretty good with honey mustard, but I hear the Thai Chili sauce is where it's at. The fries are decent, but never seem to be incredibly fresh. read more

The service was amazing. Food came out quick and tasted amazing definitly would come here again.

I came to this White Castle after volunteering hoping that it would be as amazing as Harold and Kumar described it in the movie Harold and Kumar goes to White Castle. However, I was very unimpressed. The fries were very bland without enough salt. The sliders were extremely bland with only a slice of pattie with a single pickle. I had to add mayo on it and it still was not very good. The only thing that was ok was the fish slider and I still did not enjoy that very much. I wouldn't come back here again and wouldn't recommend this to anyone. read more

I know a lot of people don't like White Castle because of the onions, but to me they're sliders are really good

We love coming here when we venture out to Ann Arbor. I heart this fast food place and the employees that work here. Our order is always right, the food is fresh and hot. I love cheese burgers and Joey loves the burgers and the chix ring sanwhich. The pop there is so fresh too and carbonation is perfect. The restaurant is always clean and busy. I look forward to eating here and always try to find a reason to go. Thank you crew for the great customer service you provide! read more

I've let my husband influence me on White Castle for the longest time. So, this place was never on my radar. But cousins mentioned that it's really not that bad of a chain plus they have a veggie slider option. That's it - it changed the course of history forever! I insisted that this place has to be explored. So we went there for a late night snack and by no means I was drunk. I was sober, so my review still holds. :) In the interest of trying it out because of an overly critical husband, we ordered just one veggie and one chicken slider. The chicken was just about ok - nothing to write home about but the veggie slider was surprisingly good. For starters, it had vegetables :) and then it had a little spice and it was flavorful. The bun was soft and nice! Knocked off a star because the service was so slow! Someone mentioned it's because their card machines are slow. Next time I'll pay cash but still! The servers were very sweet and obliged our request for any sauce with lots of honey mustard and ranch. Keep up the good job! I'll definitely come back when I am hungry for a quick snack and I'm too tired/lazy to search for an alternative. :) read more

It's the only White Castle in the area so we don't have a choice when craving a jalapeno slider. I think the employees know that and can get away with being snippy, as they won't lose business. This White Castle is consistant: You will get attitude if you don't know what you want the second they are ready to take your order, you will have to wait a decent amount of time for your food and it's always hot and fresh. Just have a thick skin if you choose the drive through. read more

Had I zero expectation and I was still left down. My friends wanted to go because they wanted to try White Castle since the cities we live in don't have this fast food restaurant. In terms of the food, we ordered their classic sliders and they were awful. The meat itself was practically grey and the "cheese" was so artificial. In combination of the bread and sauces, it was one bite of torture. Just no. read more

Why are Yelpers upset or confused by a steamed burger?! This is not a grilled patty! It is not supposed to be. It is a simple burger with simple garnish. That is what White Castle is all about. When I used to live in Ypsi, I would grab a bite to eat here from time to time on the way home from work, or whenever I was craving some white castle. I came here yesterday to get my white castle fix with a girlfriend of mine, and o, how it has changed. From my memory, the dining area is 100% different from what I remember. They must have remodeled since I was gone, and it feels lot smaller. Parking was the same, but it seems to have gone through some changes inside since I was last here. Its white castle, so I kinda know what to expect going in. Service was nice, food came out quick, and the burgers were as tasty as I remember them. I wish we had White Castle in Phoenix. I'm not sure why they haven't expanded, because I am sure they would do well. Thank you white castle!! read more

I work less than 2 blocks from this location. It has the SLOWEST service I have ever seen compared to all the other locations. At 2:00pm in the afternoon after lunch rush, it should take less than 5 minutes to get your food due to any sort of traffic... it literally took me an hour in the drive through to go through 5 cars in that line. The only reason why they got one star at all is because at least our food was served hot. read more

Steamed burgers with patties smaller than drink coasters. Trace amounts of ketchup and mustard. Possibly some beef-based ingredients. Cultural touchstone of my father's childhood in mid-century New Jersey. This is not a gourmet hamburger; but every once in a while, it really hits the spot. I figure on 6 cheeseburgers for myself; 4-8 sliders with fries is sort of the sweet spot. The fish can be a bit fishy, and the chicken can be tough --- I stick with beef. Physical location isn't particularly dirty.... it's just a little tired. Most of the staff is surly and oblivious most of the time, but if you can get their attention and smile, they brighten right up. Several of the customers seemed to be camped out for the day --- bird baths in the bathroom, charging cell phones, and drying outer layers. Not concerning to me, but certainly not a first-date atmosphere. read more

I love White Castle hamburgers! Fast, convenient, and well-priced. Their extended hours mean that I can have them for breakfast!

I love that there is a White Castle in Ann Arbor and that it's open 24/7. The service here is friendly, but not always the fastest... and every so often, they'll get my order wrong. The service was slow but i was treated with smiles and a great attitude. with everything going on with employment and the world right now i think that's all that qualifies for me. the foods hot and what you would expect from a white castle, i mean it's white castle. i came for a reason, if they're short on employees they are sure taking it well so i'm leaving 4 stars considering i'm sure not everyone thinks about it perspectively. would go here again. While watching Harold and Kumar I realized that I hadn't noticed any White Castle locations anywhere around me in Sacramento. To my horror, the corporate website said there weren't any White Castles anywhere in California. Instantly I began craving sliders, which I hadn't wanted to eat for at least fifteen years. So I made sure to hit up this slider spot at the next opportunity, 'cause those do-it-yourself frozen sliders from the grocery store aren't the real deal. I didn't exactly chow down Harold and Kumar style, since I value my self and my health a little too much for that, but I did order five sliders and some potato nuggets. The original burger was just as I remembered, which is not too bad. Not great, but hits the spot in a weird way. The jalapeno burger was better and gave some kick. I didn't care for the A1 Steak Sauce slider because the flavor was too much for the delicate bouquet of steamy meat and onions. I was given a large order of potato nuggets because my order took too long, so I wasn't able to finish them. They were better than fries from most places and were pretty crunchy, sort of like tater tots. I left feeling casually ill and very thirsty, a sign of true junk food ingestion. It tasted good, but I can see skipping future visits for at least a decade. read more
