John came and gave a very thorough walk-through with all the options and pictures to help me decide for my awning. On the day of installation his crew was very prompt, efficient and professional. Very quality product and nice features like the ability to retract, wind sensor and LED. I highly recommend. read more

John responded to me very quickly and came out to the house with lots of information regarding motorized awnings. The price was very reasonable and the installation team did a great job - very quick & clean. I would definitely recommend Where Shade Is Made!! read more

It's no accident this company has such wonderful reviews. We had an excellent experience from start to finish. John initially came out to show us our options for a large retractable awning. He was extremely knowledgeable, not pushy, and prices were lower than any other company that bid the project. Promised timeline was kept. Installation was seamless. Jose, Javier, and Sam did the install. They were very professional, tidy, and had great craftsmanship. Will definitely use this company again for any future projects. read more

We recently had an amazing experience with Where Shade Is Made in Anaheim and I wanted to share. A couple of years ago we had awnings installed by another company. During the recent windstorm we forgot to retract the awning and it was damaged. I first called the original installer, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The first thing they told us was that the damage wouldn't be covered because we didn't retract it during the wind storm, and the customer service was extremely rude. It also reminded me how difficult it was working with them in the first place, they gave us the runaround for almost 6 months before the original installation. After that, I reached out to Where Shade Is Made, and the difference was night and day. I spoke directly with the owner, who assured me I would get a call Monday morning to schedule the repair. Sure enough, Monday morning I received a call from Jimmy their GM, and from that point on everything was smooth and professional. By the very next day our shade was repaired and working perfectly again. Even better, Jimmy let us know that the repair didn't require as much work as originally expected, which actually made the final cost lower than the quote. That kind of honesty and customer service is rare these days. Thank you Where Shade Is Made for the amazing service. I truly appreciate the professionalism and quick turnaround. I would absolutely recommend them to all my friends and family. read more

300% recommended as the contractor for your shades. John was very respectable and was very fair in his quoting and his work. He did not let me down with his service and product. His install team was also very very quick and professional. You're getting the most value if you're going through this company. He had so many color options and opted to work with me for 2 sails instead of 5 and my family loves the shades. Thanks for installing this just in time for summer! read more

Where Shade is Made is the go-to shade company in Anaheim. They installed a Slide On Wire shade in our backyard for our daughter's birthday party and even finished the project a week early, which was a huge relief. Steve, John, James, Jimmy, Javier, Jose, and Antonio were all professional, courteous, and clearly skilled at what they do. The shade looks custom, keeps our space cool, and our guests kept complimenting it during the party. If you're in Anaheim or the surrounding area and don't want to waste time hunting for a trustworthy contractor, call Where Shade is Made. I highly recommend Where Shade Is Made! I had recently built an ADU in the back of the house, but we had to cut down the tree and our shade was completely gone. It was stifling hot at over 90°. Reached out Steve, the founder, got back to me immediately Within an hour of my inquiry. Got my appointment and measurements with John and signed the contract. And Javier came to install with his crew and it was absolutely flawless. They were extremely competitive in their pricing. My experience with the company and the Awning was fantastic! They just came today and also did my second home. Highly highly recommend Where Shade Is Made! read more

Where Shade Is Made - Retractable awning - Awnings Near Me - Anaheim, California

We had a superb experience with Where Shade is Made in every way imaginable: Steve, the owner, was very knowledgable about retractable awnings in general and his awning products in particular, so finding a solution was a pleasurable experience. We purchased two retractable awnings, which were very high quality and were not much different in cost from the "DIY" awnings I had considered before finding Steve's company, so Steve delivered a very cost effective product as well. The installation crew was very professional and efficient-the installation was smooth and drama-free, including touch up of the stucco around the installs (imperceptible from the surrounding area when they finished), and a thorough cleanup after the install (which is also an aspect of installation services missing with many contractors). Bottom line: I recommend Steve and his company without hesitation. read more

Had a 2-man crew come out to do some repairs on my existing SunSetter shades and they were able to repair them to my complete satisfaction! They removed the shades from their rollers since they had bunched up on the rollers. They even took the time to remove the wrinkles/creases from the shades and reinstall them on the rollers. They also did motor resets and reprogrammed the remotes for each shade. I would highly recommend this company for any shade repairs - great job!! read more

From start to finish, my experience with Where Shade is Made was excellent. My backyard gets blinding afternoon sun and the ugly pergola I had was just not cutting it. When I called Where Shade is Made I spoke to Steve who discussed various solutions with me. I decided on a 14' motorized retractable awning. Jimmy came out a few days later to take precise measurements, and was extremely patient while I selected a fabric from his book of marine quality Sunbrella fabrics. He also gave me a detailed explanation of the installation process. He answered my list of questions before I even asked them. About two weeks later, my beautiful custom made awning was installed. I love how I have complete control on how far out it extends and that the wind motion sensors will automatically retract the awning to prevent high wind damage to the frame. read more

Mike S. in the Dupage Suburbs of Illinois. I reached out to several awning companies in the Chicagoland area for help with my 20-year-old motorized awning--specifically, finding and programming a new remote. Most either couldn't help or wouldn't even try. Then, a random Google search led me to Peter at Where Shade Is Made. Peter was incredibly understanding, knowledgeable, and patient throughout the entire process. He not only helped me get a new remote, program it and solved a couple of issues I had been puzzling over for a year. He explained everything clearly and made sure I felt confident using it. It's rare these days to find someone truly committed to helping customers with older systems rather than just pushing for a new sale. Highly recommended for awning expertise--new or old. Thank you, Peter--you saved me from a very frustrating situation. read more

Worked with these guys on my house for power window shades for indoor and outdoor shades. Truly professional from start to finish. This is only a review of my experience reaching out this company and not their actual paid services. I spoke to Steve on the phone. He was friendly and sounded interested in the project. MY awning experience was minimal so for a unique project I spoke with multiple fabricators. I landed on 'Where Shade is Made' because Steve was patient enough to answer my questions, thoughtful in considering the unusual logistics, had the premier references I asked for and offered a very reasonable quote. We discussed the project over a few lengthy calls and texts and everything was set. He refereed me to John who managed the project. John made sure the awkward measurements were set, discussed and advised on materials, placement and access. Everything went smoothly with absolutely no surprises. The install crew were immaculate and professional. The ultimate product was beyond the quality I had envisioned. The framing was beautiful and the fabric was draped perfectly. Without question I would refer 'Where Shade is Made' to anyone looking for awning needs. Great job guys! read more

Over the past two years, we've wanted to create some shade over our uniquely shaped backyard. We didn't quite know what we wanted and we were hoping a company could visit us, give us ideas, and a quote. We relied on reviews from Yelp and some other sites and found John and Where Shade is Made. Long story short, we wish we found them sooner. John and the entire Where Shade is Made team are very personable and responsive. It was easy to schedule a consultation and get ideas for our backyard. John gave us pricing and a quick quote during our first visit, which was very efficient and informative. We called him back a week later to move to the next step (accurate measurements, color selections, and deposit). Our second meeting was just as great. We had some questions and concerns about installation and John was very helpful. He provided us with his expectations of the timeline, which ultimately proved to be very accurate. Over the course of the next month (including today), the team installed posts and a shade sail, as expected. Everything looks and fits great and we are very happy with the final product. We intend to do business with them again for another area of our yard. While we know each experience will be a little different, we will highly recommend Where Shade is Made to anyone. read more

When I was remodeling after moving in, I decided to rebuild the old patio cover. And I was torn between a solid roof on the patio cover vs slatted wood and corrugated plastic patio roofing. Even though I preferred the functionality of a solid roof, I was afraid it would make the patio area look too dark and closed in since my backyard isn't very deep. I ultimately decided to go with the slatted cover with plastic roofing panels to protect from rain. But I knew those plastic panels would be ugly. So I decided to get these retactable sail shades for both aesthetic and sun-filtering purposes. It was perfect for me because I'm a bit of a commitment-phobe. Not only are they retractable (giving me options on visibility), but they require minimal hardware on the patio cover itself and the shades could be removed reasonably easily if I wanted. I called a few companies and I decided to go with this Where Shade is Made. The price was fair and the work was good. John was very pleasant to work with and he was patient with my endless questions and my struggle to pick a color for the shade material. It's been about 5 months now. They've held up well to all the crazy wind these past few months. And I love how they look! read more

I contacted Steve to ask about fixing/replacing our nearly 20 year old retractable awning cover in Lake Arrowhead. The unit has been working flawlessly though the mountain weather has worn down some areas that needed attention. Steve was very kind and friendly and even remembered my father in law who installed the awning back in '07. He gave us several options and ultimately helped us with extending the life of the awning for a bit longer by helping us over the phone with detailed and thorough instructions. He went above and beyond and was very patient and informative! We highly recommend Steve and his team and will continue to use their services and products in the years to come! Thank you! read more

We needed a few awnings installed in advance of the rain, and Where Shade Is Made came to the rescue. Steve was one of the only places that picked up and was willing to humor our tight timeline. Jimmy came out shortly and was so knowledgeable and detail-oriented in helping us figure out our needs. The install team, Javier and Hector, were prompt, professional, and efficient. Our new awnings look great, perfectly matching the house, and have been effective in keeping more water off our wooden doors and windows. I needed my six year old awnings and exterior shades cleaned and repaired and wanted to learn about upgrading the motors. They quickly sent Jimmy who knew everything about awnings and took the time to explain the process, lead times and pros and cons of upgrading the motors. They removed the awning cloth and shades and took them back to their facility to thoroughly clean and repair them. Then, at least 5 days earlier then projected they scheduled installation. They sent Javier (SP?) and Hector who had the shades back up and motors installed in no time. I had been putting this project off not knowing what to expect. This company made the whole job as painless as possible. And the awnings operate and look great. read more

In 2005 we purchased a retractable awning for the front deck of our home from "Where Shade is Made" We've used it regularly and it has worked great, for almost 20 years now!! Jimmy came out to replace the fabric and to remove and reinstall the shade because I needed to have some work done on the front of the house. He was on time, friendly and very knowledgeable about his work. Last week I was having trouble with the wind sensor. It was pulling the shade in when it wasn't windy. I called and spoke with Steve. I had a great experience with this company. No hassle to deal with whatsoever. They came out, gave an measured our existing shade, had me choose the fabric I preferred, and gave me a quote right away. Theirs was the lowest of two I got but both were close to the same amount. When they came, I asked if I could paint the existing frame quickly since it had weathered some with the old fabric on it. They pulled the frame off and got them onto ground level. I quickly touched up one frame while they worked on the others so the paint could dry. They got everything up and looking great. Very professional. read more
