Today was an exciting day--we finally had our new awnings installed! The old burgundy ones had served their time and were long overdue for replacement, so this upgrade feels especially refreshing. The new bluish-green awnings are absolutely beautiful, and I love how they cast a soft blue glow through the windows. It gives the illusion of a sparkling backyard pool--without the work of maintaining one. Based on our experience, it's best to order awnings during the off-season. We placed our order in June, during the warmer months, which in hindsight wasn't the best decision since our replacement wasn't urgent. In the future, we'll plan to order during the colder months, when awnings aren't top of mind for most people and scheduling is likely easier. I bought an awning and drop-down shade from The Awning Company five years ago. The installation was fine and quality of workmanship was good. Last year I had a failure with my awning and they honored their warranty which was also a good thing. Now the bad. Every time I've contacted them regarding warranty or repair work it has taken multiple phone calls over multiple days to make contact with someone. As a consumer that is B.S. to me, and tells me this is one of those companies that's more than happy to sell you a product but much less interested in servicing it. I've had my fill of playing phone tag with these guys and going through what I consider significant lengths to get service. Although the Awning Company was a few hundred dollars more expensive than the other two, they were the only company that had the colors, and type of material for the remote shade screen we wanted to enclose our patio. I have an older electric retractable very large awning. Well the motor and frame have been extremely reliable for many. many years. When I needed a fabric recover I employed Saul and The Awning Company crew do a "re-cover' that came out fantastic. So, when I needed a service call for the support arm ( for a broken bolt that holds the Awning itself together when it goes "in and out") . I called the Awning Company, texted Saul some photos and although they didn't have the EXACT replacement part we both thought the parts they did have would work. They Did !! Justin (The technician) came out first thing in the morning on 05/15/25 and went to work. He analyzed the situation and although the parts were slightly different, he was able repair the awning and have it working in no time at all. I am impressed ! I'm a pretty handy guy and when a person can take parts and customize them in the field to solve a problem, it shows me the level of service the company that they work for is way above common standards.
