When they where contacted to use the gift certificate, they said it was expired and no longer valid. I think this is bad buisness practices to make gift certificates and not honor them. How do you make gift certificates with no expiration date on them, then when someone comes in to redeem it you say its expired. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Delivered my car at the designated 9 am appointment time and was told "Best case scenario I'd get it back the same day, worst case scenario I'd get it the back next day" called at 2 pm to request an update in order to make arrangements for transportation and work, and that's when things took a very strange turn. Apparently, updates aren't provided until 3 pm (rather than when they become available) good to know but was never informed of that at the time of delivery. I was told the car was sitting in the parking lot with its wheel off and that I could come and get it if I had a problem with that, otherwise, they would keep it overnight, but no reasoning was provided. The owner became rude and argumentative with me when I asked why my car was being worked on in the parking lot/street outside of the business and where it would be kept overnight. The shop is filthy, the ownership is rude, and repairs apparently take place in their unsecured parking lot/street/ public roadway where vehicles aren't secured. My car was left unlocked for several hours without its wheel on or any repairs conducted. I retrieved it refusing any repairs from this shop and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

These guys are the best. Suffered some gnarley wheel damage courtesy of a Des Plaines pothole. Was told by several tire places that they couldn't do anything with it and could only sell me a new after market rim/wheel, but it wouldn't match the other 3 factory wheels. Went to the dealer to buy a matching one, but they suggested I check with Wheeltech as a new rim would be beaucoup bucks. I am glad I did, Wheeltech was able to straighten for a very reasonable price. Turns out the tire was damaged too, unfortunately they don't sell tires, but they referred me tirerack.com which shipped to Wheeltech the next day, as part of their normal route. There are a lot of places that claim to repair wheels, but I can tell you for a fact that they have nothing on Ryan and the guys at Wheel Tech. When I bought my M3 last summer, one of the expensive Competition Package wheels had curb damage. The dealer agreed to fix it at no charge, but I really got what I paid for -- overspray on the tire, mismatched color, no blending, and a horrible finish. It actually looked better with the curb damage! Frustrated, I combed the web for a wheel repair place. I chose Wheel Tech, and after getting my wheels back, I am glad I did. Ryan took the time to properly fix the previous repair guy's horrible work and perfectly matched the factory "hypersilver" (which is very tricky). They also discovered the wheel was bent, and he corrected it. Ryan stands behind his work 100% and after chatting with him, it's clear he knows what he's doing. This is not a revolving door shop that tries to repairs wheels as fast as possible -- it's a shop of people who know the art of wheel repair. They repaired a rim of mine that developed a hairline crack that occurred while Motor Werks of Barrington was switching out the summer tires on my Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG. The process was smooth with overnight drop-off and the quote was very reasonable. Motor Werks had attempted to get me to split the cost of replacing the wheel, refusing to acknowledge any responsibility, at $2,000. Seriously? I found the rims online for $800. But, I knew the rim could probably be prepared. I contacted Wheel Tech and Francisco got back to me very quickly. $230 and about a week later and a few hundred additional miles on the odometer, everything is great. I had curb rash on all four of my stock Tesla Model S wheels. Not bad, but with the rest of the car looking top notch and detailed, it was a bit distracting to look at the curb rash. I brought my wheels to Wheel Tech at the end of March (apparently their busy season) since I was about ready to swap out my winter wheels for my all season wheels. I was also looking to change the color from the OEM silver to an antracite grey. The cost was the same to change the powder coat after the repair, so I asked for the new color. Also, I requested that they color match the center caps and paint the valve stems for the TPMS units. Overall, I'm very pleased with the results. I almost took off one star for the following reason. The powder coat covered all the visible surfaces, but not the inside of the spokes. I can understand why you wouldn't cover the area in contact with the rotor hat, but I was expecting the entire spoke to be covered. Additionally, in the crotches of some of the spokes where it meets the outer part of the wheel (not sure what this is actually called), it feels rough as if there was some overspray. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. This is strictly a tactile difference as far as I can tell. It doesn't affect the appearance of the wheel, however. Either way, the wheels look great and the repair job was very good. The center caps were matched nearly precisely. Very difficult for me to tell any difference between the powder coated wheels and the painted center caps. They remounted the tires and balanced all four wheels, and I can tell that there are no issues when driving. Cost was competitive. I hope I don't have to have any of my rims repaired again, but if I do need any repaired, I will be taking them to these guys. Heck, I just might take my Rial Luganos there just to have them powder coated in anthracite grey! read more

We had a great experience with Wheel Tech/Chicago Rim Repair. They did a wonderful job straightening our Infiniti rim and fixing the finish on it too. They re-balanced all of the other wheels and rotated them for us too. The vibration is completely gone and car drives smoother than ever. The cost involved still beats buying new or a refurbished wheel online. The entire staff was professional & very friendly too. I cracked my 19" wheel from a pot-hole from hell. Thought I can get it fixed for cheap, but the guy I brought it to used some kind of cheap glue to fix it. Got it balanced and there were 10+ weights on it and it wobbled like a fat penguin walking across a field of jello. So I couldn't stand it and brought it into the boys at Wheel-Tech. They were extremely helpful. I sent them an email asking if it could be fixed and the fact that the previous guy who tried to work on it put about 1cm thick of glue on it. They said it was not a problem and that they could just scrape it all off. I brought it in and they helped me put my spare tire on. The wheel was fixed in about 3 days. They did a great job welding it and it only took 2 weights to balance instead of the 10+ previously. They also helped me put it back on the car. When they put the wheel on, they also noticed that two of my wheels were not sitting flush against the hub (BMW uses lug-bolts) and I had a hub-centric ring stuck on there from my winter tires. It was a pain to remove, but they removed it for me even though it was not even the same wheel I had them fix. They also gave me a discount balance on one tire I asked them to do as well. Price was very reasonable for the great work they did and now my car is riding great again! They were really helpful and friendly. And about a week or two later they even sent me a personal thank you post card, written and signed by Ryan (I think the manager or owner). That just put the icing on the cake and shows they really care. Another point of credibility is that when I'm in there they were working on a lot of other high-end wheels such as Porsche, Bentleys, huge 26" Escalade-like Chrome wheels. So I'm sure they're a very trusted shop. I'm surprised there is not more than a couple reviews on here for them! read more

OLD FASHIONED ETHICS & GENUINE CONCERN. I can't say enough about this place! Spent 9 mons researching what to do with my discontinued chrome wheels. Replicas peel quickly per seller who said that's why 1 yr guarantee. Shiny alloy turns dark & must be polished at least 3 times a summer, taking 3 hrs per wheel. Painted would not reflect car personality. It started with Discount saying corrosion in valve stems so no way to fix & that they scraped all inside corrosion off & still losing all air daily...but...they could "order 4 tires & same original wheels"...(not possible). Finally I went here for an honest answer because they are wheel experts. They said no not valve stem problem and that no scraping had been done inside. They said they could polish it all off & coat with something like clear coat seal only better. They were busy but offered to do the job then. Said would be 3-4 hours but they ordered an Uber to take us to a comfy restaurant to wait. They were done in 2+ hours! (Maybe as only inside damaged) They charged less that a 4th of what new wheels would be and guarantee their work or will redo. So so happy with them. Thank you to the crew at Wheel Tech. I took my wheel into a tire shop because I had a leak. They informed me that the rim was bent and said they would order me a new rim right away for $260. I told them to put down the crack pipe and put my wheel and tire into the trunk of my car. That's when I drove right to Wheel Tech (even though it's at least 45 minutes from my house). They told me it would be a few hours and sure enough it was ready as promised. They even put the wheel back on for me and offered to put the spare back into the storage area. Thanks to the wonderfully bad Chicago streets, this is the the fifth or sixth wheel I have had fixed here (two cars). Rims on the Camaro weren't holding air anymore. Slow leak in the rear, front one; well I was slottin 75 cents every day because the air would only hold for that long. Thought the rims were just plain ol' bent.Honestly, I couldn't justify $800 on some decent chrome rims IF these I have can be fixed. I called several other "rim specialists" in the Chicagoland area, they ALL told me that they couldn't do anything for the rims that I have, but they would cut me a deal on new rims. I didn't need to be upsold. I needed to have a repair done. That's when I figured if ANYONE knew something it'd be on Yelp. Behold--the brightly lit road to the kingdom of rim repair (insert royal trumpet sounds here). Leave it to Ryan Cunniff (Lawd ham mercy chile) to come to the rescue!! I emailed him, told him what was going on. Called me back in LESS than 24 hours, had an appointment made for me for Saturday. Dropped off the rims at 10am...called me at 135p-ready the same day. They weren't bent; just badly corroded. He even put some sort of shine treatment on them!! $290 got me my rims back like new!! When you know you don't have the bucks to get new rims, but you need help right away, this is the man, this is the place to go. He also has different varieties of rims in the shop, examples of what each would look like when he's done with it. I can't think of anyone else who can do this, do this right, do this at a reasonable price. For those who don't know, you can't access this shop coming FROM Chicago unless you get off at Half Day road; it curves around then you swing a left at the off ramp light. Get into the right lane. You'll cross Route 41 then you turn right as if you're going to the Mutual Ace Hardware. There's a sign with the name of the repair shop, with an arrow pointing left. Turn left and keep going til you get to a fence. The shop is directly at the back. It is behind M&I Motor Sports (the used to be McDonalds building). Yes it's a bit of a ways away, but the gas consumption & mileage is nothing compared to paying for new rims. read more

I can not express how great a service this was. I had just purchased a new car in February and put new $1200 20" black rims on it in may. Less then 2 months later I had an incident where I scraped the hell out of two rims...really bad curb rash right down to the aluminum. I called around to the dealership and a couple of other places. Ryan was very patient in explaining to me, a particular Porsche owner, the process and recommendations of getting the wheels back to perfect. They turned out better than OEM, and I am extremely satisfied. He was able to paint the color to exactly what I was looking for (one shade darker than OEM with some variance when the sun hits it) and they were also able to lathe the edge to match the OEM finish. They also painted the center caps and they even were able to touch up the lug bolts that had started to rust. Ryan stayed in touch regarding any variance in the time it would take as well as how the powdercoating and lathing turned out.
