Over years D&R Automotive continues to be the clear choice for car service. The combination of…read morediagnostic and repair excellence and genuinely good people to work with and trust, can't be matched anywhere. With reasonable pricing which compares to any facility, anywhere, and no-cost courtesy cars (what this saves you in both rental costs and headaches is immeasurable) the provide top-notch customer service. They work with Maxcare (CARMAX's warranty policy) which has been a saving grace with my son's car, my daughter, and my wife's Mini Copper. I write this after my car was diagnosed as needing full front-brakes after just 7,500 miles by Loeber Motors. While I drive my car hard, that seemed odd. I dropped it off for D&R to access. The next day I was told brakes were NOT necessary right now, and we should reassess in 5k miles. This works for me because I trust these people with a trust that only comes with experience and proving themselves over time. The cost for checking my brakes, was nothing, a courtesy. When people new to the area ask for an automotive recommendation, it's a pleasure to point anyone to D&R. Last point: the keys to my courtesy car where tucked into the visor as I was told, in a ziplocked bag, sanitized for my comfort and safety, during the pandemic. I mention this because it doesn't to the ultra-high consideration D&R puts into your interaction. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Ron Kolman Services: Body & Trim, Auto glass repair, Battery, Gen Auto maintenance, Brakes, Wheel alignment, you name it.

So she was referred here and they tried to sell her something that was covered under the jeep warranty, tires that she didn't need. And brakes that she also didn't need. She ended up getting a 2nd opinion and they confirmed that her tires and brakes were fine and they confirmed that Jeep will cover that suspension issue. D & R also kept the $107 to try to rob her of things she didn't need. Now she's going to another place that is 20-25 minutes away that were honest to her. This places gives the auto industry a bad name. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!! Crooks

If you need an honest, good, trustworthy, CARING mechanic, you need to go to Heart! Every trip…read morethey've been honest (one time they said they can't do something specific to my car- busted steering column- and unfortunately I needed to go to the dealer.) So they're not looking to take your money; they want you to get the work done right! I've seen them handle difficult customers with calmness and respect. But their values are so humane too, which goes above and beyond any mechanic, much less any vendor. They hire special needs adults and do on the job training with patience, repetitiveness, and care. They are LGBTQ+ friendly and safe. I hope the best for this company and its employees, I hope the values never change. Good honest work with good honest people. A company that lives by their name: "Heart."

Very disappointed…read more.... When this auto shop first opened in Northbrook years ago, I was very excited because I thought "yay...I don't have to take my car to my dealership anymore" since I felt I was always overcharged for their parts and services". Heart was a little bit cheaper than my dealership so I was happy to give them my business. The front desk people were always friendly over the phone and in person and they were never pushy. My issue with them is regarding their honesty. I urgently needed a new car battery 3 years ago (2023). I called them on a Friday afternoon to check if they had a car battery for my particular make/model/year in stock. I was told they had it in stock and to bring in my car first thing Saturday morning. I was able to drive my car to their shop the next morning and the store manager at the time made sure that I got a new battery right then and there. He even called me the next day to make sure my battery was working fine. WOW! I was truly amazed by this high level of customer service. I've never had anyone from my dealership call me to check in. So over the next few years, I kept going to Heart for other services and was a very satisfied customer until today (Sept 2026). We needed to replace our car battery today since it was leaking and my husband decided to replace it himself. We went to Costco to purchase the new battery and bring in the old battery (for disposal) and what did we notice today? Heart installed the WRONG size car battery in my car 3 years ago!!!!!!! The Costco employee at the tire center was like "Is this the car battery that was in your car?" due to the obvious size difference between the battery we were going to buy at Costco and the one installed at Heart! Seriously? Not sure if the wrong size affected my car since it was jiggling under the hood all this time! Yes, my car drove fine with the wrong size battery all this time, but they installed the wrong size! The casing for the battery was TOO SMALL!!! They probably don't expect most customers to go under their hood and inspect or change the battery themselves so they probably didn't think we would notice the size difference! VERY DISAPPOINTED! They could have mentioned to me that the car battery they installed was a little bit smaller in size but not to worry since it wouldn't affect my car. A heads up about this would've been nice. But nope....no mention at all! They lost our business. We will never go to them again for any service!
