It is hard enough to find a good, honest mechanic, but Cloverdale ARC seems to go above and beyond in every respect. The location is good, the shop is organized and clean, and the people are kind. If I wasn't from out of country they would have my business long term!

They were going to charge me for a new converter. I was devastated since the price was already going to be over $600 based on what they told me and that was a surprise as well. When they told me it was going to be $600, I told them to quit working on it since it was just loud. They said they were too far into the job to stop and I am on disability from being in an accident and can't afford much right now. After I left, I headed about a 4 hour drive away in which the engine light came on and I lost the ability to increase speed. It was "bank 1 sensor 1". The 02 sensor. I took the car back to them, and they said they would only charge me for the part and no labor. They also said that it wasn't possible for the work they did to have caused the new issue. They quoted me $200 for the part. I went to the pick and pull, got the part and was going to do it myself but the bolt was seized. I spoke to my trusted mechanic that was just too far for me to take my car to in the first place, and he told me that they should have removed the 02 sensor before applying any heat and that it most certainly could burn out the sensor and just for the simple fact that it was seized on there meant they hadn't removed it before applying heat. It was not giving any codes before they worked on it. When I went in for them to replace the 02 sensor with the one I had pulled, they tried to charge me $145 for labor because I brought my own part in. They were adamant that they couldn't have possibly caused the issue and I should be more grateful for the work they did on my car earlier to help me out, even though I felt pushed into the work in the first place, as if I had no choice. When I explained what my mechanic said how it was possible, the owner got in my face, pointing his finger at me and raised his voice at me and told me to take my car and leave. I took the car to another mechanic shop, and they said they would charge me for 30 minutes labor and not up-charge for bringing my own part which would be less than $50 and this new shop had nothing to do with the issue.

Went back because I heard some front end noise. They said they didn't notice it, so I explained it was a wobble sound from the front tires. They then said you need wheel bearings, springs, and a list of other things after the first tech didn't notice anything wrong. I said no thanks I'll go somewhere else. Great guys both of them. New crew now, but I think I saw Marc today - but he didn't recognize me, it's been a few years. But even as an unknown face I get the best service and treatment possible. Usually shoot the breeze about cars for a few minutes as well - they aren't in a hurry to get you out of there - they just want to get the best for those who walk through the doors. After 30 years and six or seven cars I have come to them time and time again. Sometimes for a patch, sometimes to get a set of rubber. Every single time they are great and I'm pretty safety conscious when it comes to the rubber hitting the road. They've patched no end of screw/nail/whatever holes with the intent of getting you going, not the intent of getting your money. Case in point, I got a nail in the tread at the edge of a tire. Not that many kms on the treads and I didn't think that I could make it to B&B so I pulled into big K. They looked at the tire, said that it was impossible to patch as the nail had "likely" gouged the sidewall. But replacing 1 tire was bad practice so I would need all 4 done even though the kms were less than 100,000 on them. This was a late model Volvo SUV so the tires were not cheap and they "likely" saw my wallet and me coming. Well they also saw me going as I gently drove out and over to B&B. The team there pulled the rubber and actually took a look, seeing that the nail had entered at an angle away from the sidewall and a tread patch was all that I needed, so that's what they did. Go to these guys. They are honest, good natured, and do a great job. I really don't know how you could want anything more in any business let alone the ones that keep you safe on the road.

Their prices relative to the work scope, would be pretty much on par. In fact, on my last oil, change and tire rotation; a new pair of wiper blades were given & installed for free! Easily the best auto repair shop I have ever dealt with…read more When my truck went into the shop for maintenance, I was provided with a courtesy car and constant updates on my vehicle. My truck had a lot of issues as it is mainly driven on forestry roads. When I went in to pick it up Ryan, along with his two mechanics Dan and Greg, put my truck up on the hoist and showed me the exact work that they had done. They also took the time to explain why I was having these problems, and how they could be prevented in the future. They performed the work that was necessary, and gave me a list of work that will need to be performed in the future to keep my cost as low as possible. They genuinely made me feel like they were trying to help me instead of trying to make their shop money. There was even one of the worker at the reception desk who was involved in that conversation and understtod and confirmed that they got it. Both of them understood exactly what I need. Next day I came again to confirm appointment, price and that they understood exactly what I need. Eventually when I came at the day and time of appointment, brough the new rims and set of winter tires on old rims, that woman (reseptionist) said that it's double job for them. I said back to her that she and her fellow worker were told twice what I need to be on the same page and they confirmed at that time that they got it. Very dissapointed. Right away I came to the next door auto service and they did everything I needed within 20 minutes for $150 which is a very disent price for that. Will never consider this shop to get the service.
