I came in for an early lunch on a late Saturday morning. I had the prosciutto chicken panini with plum tomatoes. It was great, well balanced.. The iced coffee was good except it was a bit too pale and sweet for my taste. No big deal. Even though the staff was super busy, they were warm and friendly. My order took a little longer than expected, as the place was hopping with hipsters and college kids getting breakfast. Understandable, there were only 4 people working at maximum capacity. The atmosphere is stuffy, which is my only real complaint. It's very small and 'intimate'. If you can look past the pretentious patrons, give this place a try. I really like this place so far. I end up going a bit after the rush, so I've only been in there with four other people tops. The guys are nice, and I feel like the people commenting that they aren't probably try barking their order at them like they would at dunks. We moved office over to Beverly recently and needless to say hit the coffee places pretty hard. After a couple of months of trying I settled on "What's Brewin'?" as my go to. While I think you can get better coffee and better sandwiches in town, these guys get all the factors right: quality, cost and service. Gusto - probably has better coffee but it is more expensive and the service is a bit awkward. Atomic - food and coffee is great but you wait too long, wait staff don't really seem to care, too many hipsters ;) What's Brewin - coffee is good quality and reasonably priced (large iced $2.75) - breakfast sandwiches are awesome. Simple and fresh, and again reasonably priced ($3.50 ish). Only available on bagel and croissant, a roll, wrap and english muffin option would be very welcome. - other food: I haven't really tried but donuts and sandwiches look great. - service: the owners and staff really care and are always in unobtrusive good spirits. The main guy quickly learned my order, is always grateful for the business without being awkward or excessive, and the experience is FAST easy and friendly. The location is perfect and the coffee is excellent. I have a dunkin' donuts 20 feet away and I still go here. It might be a little more expensive but you get a bang for your buck. Their breakfast sandwiches are the most filling you will find and the paninis and sandwiches are very filling and are much better for you. Overall it's probably my favorite coffee shop along with Atomic Cafe. The only detail is that it's cash only which is no problem. As an avid coffee drinker this is absolutely my favorite coffee place! I think that their iced coffees are incredibly delicious and perfect if you have a sweet tooth. My one suggestion is say no to added sugar, trust me you dont need it! My boyfriend lives back in Beverly and everytime we visit home I make sure that we stop in here every morning. Even though he only visits home maybe 3 or 4 times a year Neil (the owner) always remembers his name and greets him personally. I think thats defiently the icing on the cake. They make the ONLY breakfast sandwich I'll eat. They got it down! Huge fluffy bagel, perfect egg, and bacon of course. It's always fun to try a new crazy iced coffee flavor too. Besides the delicious breakfast though the atmosphere is pretty bad. Bad decorations, service is very soft spoken, menu is all hand written and hard to read. Worse than that- there are flies and dirty coffee cup lids. I try to ignore these unfortunate aspects but it's still a turn off. This place is my go to for coffee in Beverly! They have an amazing selection of flavors to choose from. Personal favorite is an Iced Cinnamon Sticky Bun coffee. Not only are the drinks amazing, but they also have a wonderful selection of food for breakfast and lunch! The staff is friendly as well. Whenever I walk in, Neil immediately starts whipping up my coffee of choice. Excellent service all around! Honestly, my only complaint is that they usually close around 3 or 4 so I'm not able to ever go after work! LOVE THIS PLACE. I always go for an iced latte (smores) and there's a ton other flavors too. All the food I have had has been great too. They recently changed owners, and it seems smooth to me and things seem great still. I've been coming here for some time now and actually became addicted to the lattes! Everyone is always so friendly. I love the bagels and breakfast sandwiches too. I've read some of the poor reviews and I have to completely disagree with them. I'm not sure about the pastry because I've never really tried any of it but they don't make their stuff they get it from somewhere else. I have never felt pressured into buying anything. If you want just a simple coffee they have it but if you need something with more sugar get a flavored latte! I go there for a latte and appreciate the attentiveness from the employees! Best coffee shop in Beverly, and in my opinion, the whole North Shore! Skip Dunks or Atomic - this place has fantastic coffee and food, prices are great, service is quick. Really yummy baked goods, especially the doughnuts, and the breakfast sandwiches are downright indulgent. I stop by Brewin' at least three times a week for delicious coffee and sandwiches. They have dozens of quirky flavors of coffee (think "Sticky Bun") in addition to traditional ones, like Irish Creme. Sandwiches range from the unique, prosciutto and cheese on a croissant, to the mainstream, like bacon and cheese on a bagel. Pastries are also pretty good, though not as quality as the sandwiches or coffee (other than the donuts). The staff, though, is the by far the best part. I finally decided to check out What's Brewing earlier today after noticing signs that proclaimed "FRESH GLUTEN FREE BAKED GOODS" all over the storefront. I have been gluten free for many years and my expectations for restaurants are set pretty low however, What's Brewing was a huge disappointment. Their "fresh baked" gluten free goods include Liz Lovely cookies and Udi's bread. Both of these products are fine but, definitely not fresh baked. They also only sell Udi's as a loaf but will not make you a GF sandwich. False advertising and completely ridiculous! I actually signed up for Yelp just to write this one review. read more

I am absolutely in love with What's Brewin!! I have had nothing but great experiences here. The bagels are super fresh and they offer a wide variety of cream cheeses and sandwiches to go with them. The lattes are so good and are always ready super fast. Even though it is a small space the staff works really hard to make sure that your order gets done as soon as possible. Beware though, the drinks are SUPER hot, i scalded my tongue after it had been sitting 10minutes in my car on a 10 degree day, i couldn't drink it until 40minutes later. WAY not safe. Just tried this restaurant for the first time today for lunch. I love it! I love that they offer food in a bowl ( I hate gluten free bread) and the Milky Way Iced Latte was the best Iced Latte I've ever had in my entire life! They were so nice and friendly. My boyfriend and I LOVE it here. The bagels are delicious no matter what you put on it. We've been twice and have tried bagels with cream cheese as well as turkey BLTs in bagels. What's brewin is by far my favorite place to go and get coffee. I actually go there every day, sometimes more than once. I am always greeted with a warm "hello Molly, your regular?" Very few places now recognize their repeat customers. And this place definitely does. Their iced coffee is to die for. And their bagels are down right delicious. The homemade pastries are also yummy. Everything is pretty fairly priced. A little more expensive than dunks, but a lot less than Starbucks, and in my opinion much better than both. I'm a regular at What's Brewin' and have been since high school (recent college grad). Their bacon/egg/cheese/croissant are amazing! I love getting their sandwiches because they are freshly made right there, right then, and yet I can easily grab it and go. Not to mention, it's the only cafe in Beverly that gives you that true small-town feel. The owners and their few employees make it a point to learn your name, but even if you're a newbie, you can still count on a tasty experience! read more

I live fairly close to this place and decided to walk here on a Saturday morning with my boyfriend for one of their breakfast sandwiches. The girl at the counter was attempting to convey our order of a meager TWO, yes two egg and cheese sandwiches and ice coffees as we ordered them, rather than simply write them down. Needless to say, she was clearly becoming very flustered. Iced coffee came out right away but I had to ask for a new one because it was like drinking straight sugar. Then the food.... When I went to bite into my sandwich I noticed it was not egg whites, which I had ordered. I brought it back to the girl at the register, who instead of apologizing for the oversight, proceeded to essentially call me a liar by saying I had not informed her I wanted egg whites. Even if I hadn't (which I had), isn't the customer always right?? Shouldn't you just say "Oh I'm sorry, I must not have heard you. We'll make you a new one." As if that wasn't bad enough, she informed me that I would now have to PAY an extra dollar because it was egg whites!!! If I hadn't been so hungry I would have walked out. When I came back in the store after waiting several minutes for my new sandwich to be made, I very clearly heard her complaining about me to another girl behind the counter. WOW. I've been to most places in Beverly that serve breakfast and this is by far my favorite. Neil and his son (also Neil) run a great shop. They have been around for about three years and really have their stuff together. It is hard to beat good and fast service, great food at good prices served by good and down to earth people. This is definatly an everyones coffee shop. They do the normal breakfast fare: bagels, sandwiches, coffee as well as lunch. This is my husband and I's favorite coffee place in town. We moved here 6 months ago and have been spending the time exploring our new coffee shop, pizza place, sandwich shop...you get the picture. What's Brewin' was the first cafe we went to (on the day we moved in) and nothing has compared since. First of all, you can't beat the prices. Second of all, the quality of all their products are top notch. The coffee doesn't taste like syrup and it's not. The flavors are so natural and yummy! Not like the fake s**t from DD. The people who work there are so pleasant and always appreciate your business. All they care about is making you happy.
