First off let me say that I love Whataburger. They are one of the very few fast food chains that use REAL eggs and cook pancakes on the griddle. However, this particular Whataburger is the worst fast food joint I've ever been to. EVER. No exaggeration. The service is snail-paced (even during slow times) and the communication is terrible. The soda machine is constantly broken and spurting out syrup. There was hot tea in the coffee pot once. I told the worker and she said "oh", stared at me, and did nothing. We keep trying it out and are let down over and over again. The worst. ever. period. read more

I always like to try a burger from the local chain when I travel. When I saw a big triangle-shaped metal shack that said "Whataburger" on a big 60's looking sign, I knew what I had to do. It was a late night after a hard day when I visited Whataburger--the perfect setting to enjoy this kind of food. I ordered "1 Whataburger please". After an old lady in a minivan finished whatever she was taking a century to do, I pulled up the side window to get my Whataburger. I pulled out my trusty AMEX, but was informed that the credit card machine was broken. Unfortunately I only had 2 bucks cash. Technically, it was their problem so I shouldn't be penalized, but I was still impressed when the lady said "I gotcho chainge". What an angel. After driving away and taking a couple of pictures of my whataburger, I took a big bite. The burger was fantastic. Juicy, not too greasy, a good amount of lettuce that was actually crisp... wow, just what I needed! I'd give this Whataburger 0 stars if I could. There's always something going wrong here. Either the credit card machine is down or the drink machines don't work. The staff is never friendly and always make you feel like an inconvenience just for ordering food. Never expect to wait any less than 10 minutes in the drive thru for your food. Whataburger in Mobile Alabama on Govt. hands down best customer service I've ever received from a fast food chain. From the Area Manager to the staff taking my order and making my order. The place was clean, organized and we were met with the utmost southern hospitality! Whataburger Mobile Alabama a lot of places could learn from y'all. I have been eating at this Whataburger Restaurant for more than 30 years, when Denise was an employee and it is one of the few original A-Frame stores left, I have always had courteous service and great food but today was different in so many ways. My daughter and I wanted milkshakes only so we went in to strech our legs after a trip from another Whataburger in Navarre, FL. We stood there for a couple of minutes while the counterman helped another customer. After he was helped the counterman walked off and went around the food prep area and drive through. We waited and waited and he came back. We ordered a sm Coffee and med Chocolate. He entered the order took our money and walked off and toured the food prep area and drive through. We waited, everyone that was there before us was served and we waited. We sat down and waited. We stood up and we waited. Finally the manager came out and I asked could we get our milkshakes ... that we had been waiting 15 minutes. She replied that he's getting it now ... and we waited ... finally they arrived. Went to get straws and all they had were the "bendy" straws that don't work well with thick milkshakes. I asked if we could get the bigger straws and we were given the bendys again. I asked if we could get real straws. The manager came out and REFILLED the straws then and there. No offer to comp the milkshakes for the almost 20 minute wait. No "we're sorry it took so long". NOTHING. BTW ... it was around 2pm and definitely NOT rush hour. This was definitely not the quality of service we received at the Navarre store about 3 hours earlier. I wonder if we would have gotten better service if we ordered something more than milkshakes!! read more

So it's Sunday and I walk into here around 3pm. Everyone seems like they don't want to be here. I get the feeling like someone just died. There're no smiles on any of the staff members. Especially the one that took my order. And I'm standing at the register ready to take my order and for some reason I'm waiting for someone to actually come and take my order all while I'm making eye contact with at least 3 people that know I'm here waiting. No one comes. Clearly I see the manager and I know the manager can see me she's standing right there in front. No ones helping me. Finally someone comes from the back to take my order and she couldn't move any slower to get up here. Finally she's at the front and won't indicate to me that she's on a register I'm not in front of or even if she's going to be the one to take my order. No smile on her face either. She looks like she clearly doesn't want to be here too. I'm just not happy with the presentation of welcoming walking into this whataburger. The food was great as usual but the staff, goodness. Cheer up people! You're bringing down my day with your sad looking faces. I don't even want to come back to this whataburger location after this experience. Just didn't feel welcomed here. read more

We all have our favorite burger from childhood. Mine is a Whataburger. We're down to one in Mobile and I pray it stays right there on Government Street where it has been for YEARS. Whataburger is no gourmet burger - there's no sauteed mushroom with blue cheese option - but there's something about that combination of mustard (you have to ask for ketchup - DON'T), lots of lettuce, chopped onions and a good ole hamburger patty cooked on a old seasoned grill - that just DOES IT for me! Don't fool with the basic Whataburger - don't get anything extra - just order a Whataburger. The one thing you can request is to cut it in half! That's all - stop there. Otherwise - you will miss the entire effect of what a Whatburger is supposed to be. If you want a bacon cheeseburger - go somewhere else. If you want Angus beef or ground filet mignon - go somewhere else as well. But if you want to taste a good, old fashioned drive in hamburger - head to Whataburger. Here's another thing - they have THE BEST ketchup for fries. Like I said above - don't get ketchup on the burger - you'll ruin the effect. I have no idea who makes their ketcup for them - but it is simply THE BEST. If I could buy it in a bottle - I may actually keep ketchup at my house. But I can't - so I don't. read more

Fresh Hot Fries and Onion Rings they were the best. The restaurant was super clean and well organized. I hadn't been to this restaurant in several years and did not know it had been updated. We went through the drive through. No one acknowledged our presence. After sitting there for five minutes, we decided to pull up and order at the window. The lady was very nice to take our order. The only problem was that while we were waiting for our order, a gentlemen employee made a drink for a customer, but first took a sip of it. He then put the lid on it and handed it to a customer at the counter. We love Whataburger, but never again at this location. read more

This is a review for the Gov. Blvd restaurant, but there is another one located in Mobile, it's at 2496 Schilinger Rd. I finally tried one of these hamburgers based on TeresaR's review. I've heard of them but as a child I was put off by the name. I figured it's no wonder they're juicy if they're made of water!!! After finally sampling one I have to say it was a pretty good burger for fast food. The service took forever, the price was pretty steep, 5.99 for a Whataburger, medium fry and medium drink. The fries are just like McDonald's, and the ketchup is pretty good. I don't like the amount of mustard they have on the sandwich and next time I will probably order a double patty with extra onions. Terrible customer service. Drove out of my way to get to this location, waited in the drive through (no other cars ahead of me) for 15 minutes, almost late for work just for me to find out that they got my order wrong. She forgot my milk, then proceeded to take 5 additional minutes receiving it for me. I made this Yelp account strictly to voice my anger and concerns. It's ridiculous. Wow, it's been a long time, having moved to a city without whataburger. Now that I am back in Mobile, took my daughter here for old times sake. The best burger in town still! HUGE burgers, like every burger used to be in the old days before everyone got cheap and downsized (I am looking at you BK). Let me start by saying I love Whataburger and it is hands-down my favorite fast food restaurant of all time. However, the Government St location is not up to par with the other restaurants. I've eaten here around 10 times because unfortunately it is the only location near my house. The food is delicious, but the service is the WORST. However, my biggest problem with this location is the FLIES. There are always at least 30 giant flies inside and no employee seems to care or even notice. If you eat inside, you will constantly be guarding your food and the flies will be swarming all around you. So, I suggest you hit the drive-thru if you absolutely must get your WB fix. As for me, I kept going back hoping that it would be different but the flies are unfortunately a permanent guest here. Now I can't even get drive-thru deliciousness here because I know the food is contaminated. Sorry for the buzz-kill review ;) read more
