I came here specifically to try the chicken sandwich in order to get some further depth to my comparative context on the plethora of the crowded chicken sandwich space. Here is what I have noticed, no matter the restaurant, the fresher the sandwich, the better. Also, to keep it simple, I get whatever each restaurant presents as their standard - for example, CFA standard is not their deluxe, it is just bun, chicken, pickles. At WB, it is potato bun, chicken, lettuce, tomato, and, Whatasauce. I'll say cleanlinesss and service are both very good here. I didn't think they could ever have gotten all the old KFC grease off of that floor during renovations, but they did. It's very neat lines, simple color scheme, and crisp clean. The sandwich. You are going to immediately have a mental image in your head when I say the contrast between the glossed up picture of the food compared to the reality of the food in appearance. Flat, almost squished a bit. One leaf of limper lettuce, thin sliced tomato, and Whatasauce. Whatasauce was the first thing that hit my flavor profile. It tasted like ketchup on a hot dog. Which is a no-no anyway. But it was a ketchup forward flavor with savory notes and too sweet. Right behind that I got the thin fried chicken filet, which was more breading than chicken around the edges of the filet. Plus, it was slightly overdone and slightly tough. The good news is that I had a rewards coupon, unbeknownst to me until time of order, and it was free with the purchase of a medium drink and fries, somewhere between $5-$6. The fries are thinner style pencil fries. Medium is more than enough. Crispy and they were good. I love the Whataburger giant cup and they make very good iced tea - good enough to be a deciding factor for where to go for lunch. But this sandwich left so much on the table in execution. I imagine from their test kitchen version to the version served - overdone, over breaded, over sauced, and flat, there would be disappointment from the test kitchen guys. WB matches CFA in cleanliness and service. CFA sandwiches have always been very "chicken forward", thicker chicken portion, retains juiciness, simple (pickles only, add your own sauce) and frankly, easier to eat while traveling/driving. Sure, you should pay attention to the road, but just observe alll the drive through business at any chicken sandwich venue and you KNOW they're out there eating and driving. There is a good marketing gimmick- easiest fast food to eat and drive. Hint, it doesn't come with lots of Whatasauce, whatever it may be. read more

It's actually pretty clean here. I went late and there was a good bit of staff. They have a lot of customizations on their app and it actually works pretty well. The food is fine for what it is. You definitely feel better than spending a lot more at Five Guys or a bit less at another joint. But I'd still rather just make my own burger. They'll bring your order to your table here. read more

I had amazing customer service here!! I came for the promotion for free breakfast! Oh and for lunch 75 cent burgers for the 75th anniversary. Restaurant is clean and inviting. I have tried Whataburger multiple times when I lived in Texas and it was phenomenal. The one here in Mauldin, SC is the slowest place in the world. I always have to plane an extra 30 mins in my trip if I want to eat here. This is so unacceptable. I do not see this place surviving here if this continues. If I do not schedule extra time it's to here I would never come here. On top of everything the poor girl working the drive thru was the only person to cook the food as well. The manager was taking payment at the window trying to help. It's appalling that the district manger and or supervisor is not there helping. I guess they have too much money to be able to help their store. They actually have not staff to work. It's pathetic. My trips to this store will not happen again. This place never gives spicy ketchup. I've ordered three times in the past two weeks, both via DoorDash and on the Whataburger app. Never includes spicy ketchup. It's the only thing that makes their fries worth eating. So disappointing. Brutal. Almost as bad as the one in Greenville off Woodruff. I've been to Whataburger's all over the country, including Texas, and they've always been fine. For some reason, "the help" at the South Carolina locations NEED HELP! Before we even get to the frozen microwaved food, can anybody tell me why the service is so slow... They hardly have any employees in this location, and they are just as slow as the location in Greenville that has plenty of employees that don't do anything. All of the burgers had the incorrect toppings and onion rings and fries were cold. Charged for a combo and asked for bottled water. Was given a cup of water and questioned the combo charge for a cup of water. The employee did not understand at all why we were questioning being charged for a combo and given a paper cup of water. I rarely leave bad reviews but this place was horrible. Everything about it! The prices are ridiculous for the food you receive. I questioned if it was real meat? We paid way too much and literally had to wait over 40 minutes for a Togo order that had two SIMPLE combos with meat and cheese only and fries. I wish I would have taken photos but this time I didn't so I apologize to whoever reads this. Don't We've gone through the drive through 3 different times. Services was great. Food was great! 2 jr double burgers, medium fries, and a 30oz strawberry shake came out to 25 and some change. Don't go when it's super busy! All waits were under 10 min. Highly suggest trying! And get their spicy ketchup! read more

Ordered food yesterday was literally the only car in the drive through about 4pm, had completely messed up my order but I didn't realize until i got home. Sent an email and got a rather quick response actually saying to come back in with my receipt and they will remake it for free and apologized (only positive/ right thing to do anyway) went tonight and 3 cars in the drive through waited 34 minutes (not exaggerating) to get my food.
