Sweet and Spicy Sweet & Spicy Bacon Burger and French Fries
    Jao S.

I ordered the Sweet and Soicy bacon burger and I gave you say I was not disappointed as it was the best burger I have ever eaten from a fast food restaurant

    Tinnette S.

My husband and I finally made it to Whataburger. I got the #1 which is the Original Whataburger with fries and a drink. My husband got the #2, which is the Double Whataburger with fries and a drink. We waited do about 5-10 min for our food. We both agreed the burgers were pretty big and were pretty good. I should have asked for light mustard. It had more mustard than what I usually like, but it was okay. There weren't many onions on my burger. I couldn't taste them at all. The fries were hot, crispy and pretty good as well. Not sure what all the hype was about and the long lines in drive-thru when they first opened because I've had better. Would I go again? Maybe.

The patty melt was OK, burger still needed seasoning and more griddle time. Toast was floppy.

First time ever trying a Whataburger, and it left me thinking it might be my last. It's so close by, that probably won't be the case, but it's going to be a long time before I feel like experimenting here again. The lines here right now are insane, I guess because many are like me and have never had it, but they are open 24 hours. So... I just went really late after getting back on a late flight into Greensboro. Monday around 11pm. They had plenty of staff and there were only about 5 people in line, so even though it was late, I felt I would get at least pretty close to their best. I placed my order with the lady by the menu, and got something for my wife as well. Mine was a patty melt combo on texas toast with onion rings, here was an... i dunno what burger, with fries. We both ordered half sweet half unsweet tea, and a side of honey mustard. We waited a good 10 minutes, which was fine, expecting a hot order. We only had about a 5 minute drive home, which on the way, we realized they made the drinks half tea half lemonade. We specifically said tea, so it's not like we said "half and half" and they misunderstood. OK for me, but my wife didn't like it. Getting home, we pulled out the burgers and sides... no honey mustard. The fries were so cold, they were mushy. The cold onion rings, being onion rings, were still edible though not ideal. My burger, the patty melt, had enough things on it that I thought it tasted just OK. The patty had very little seasoning, if any at all, and there was no crust or char on it. The whole thing was very flat, and the toast was not crisp at all. My wife's burger was completely bland, again no seasoning or brown crust. Is this just how burgers are at this place? Anyhow, I only give 1 star reviews for a total debacle, and while this was close, I'll give it the slight credit that I was able to eat mine and I did try it "late". Gonna be awhile before I give it another chance.

I have been dreading making this review. I have , since opening, been to the new Whataburger on Wendover, a total of five times as a Texan and a burger lover. I am severely disappointed each time I've gotten a Whataburger it has been smashed sloppily thrown together, and there's consistently something missing from the bag. Overall, I think the problem that this location is having it's purely around the staff. While lines were super long the first opening weeks and I was inclined to give them a pass. It has only devolved since. drive-through staff have no idea what they're doing. It's like they hired any person that walked in during construction. I've spent countless minutes of my life that I will not get back watching employees let food sit in the drive-through window while dancing, singing, flirting, and whatever else with 5+ people outdoors and no one getting food. Not only are they inefficient and lack professionalism. They are outwardly rude. It'll be a couple of weeks before I look for any improvement.

    Double with Cheese and FF

I really like the burgers here and there's value here. I have eaten the burgers several times in Texas, and enjoyed the experience. Getting in and out was a bit of a zoo on the first day, but I made it thru. I ordered the Double with Cheese and FF, as well as the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both sandwiches were good but neither is at the top of the national fast food chains. This will almost assuredly become a cult place!

It didn't live up to the hype. It wasn't bad, the burger is a solid burger but I wouldn't drive across town for it. The vibe is strange without any music the restaurant was weirdly quiet. There was only 1 counter person, they seem to be going the McDonald's way of self service kiosks. I'm not a fan of that.

    Crazy lines

Place has been open a week only and still the car line extends out the parking lot. Service is still pretty quick and efficient. Everyone provides a friendly smile while taking your order. Food was really good. The inside of the location seemed pretty busy as well. Currently the ambiance is hectic with all the large crowds trying out the new food options. Overall not a bad experience. Should definitely Try it if ever in the Greensboro area.

When I make a promise, I cannot go back on my word. My son wanted to try Whataburger and I promised we would go on the first day....yay me, Mom of the Year award coming soon...lol. Today, July 31st was the first day opening at this location and you know the traffic was NUTS!!!! Didn't even try the drive-thru, my son waited in line to go in. The line remarkably moved pretty quickly. On the outside Security was directing traffic...I'm pretty impressed how they were handling day 1. You place your order via a kiosk and grab your order at the counter. This location is 24 hours which is super interesting. I think it will do well in the location. The burger is solid. I've had Whataburger in Texas where the brand originated and it tastes the same here as it does in Texas. I got the bacon burger today. It was sloppily put together as you can see, but I don't mind, I like a messy burger. I have no complaints. I would place this burger above Mc, BK, and W any day. The burger is a nice size, nice variety, hey what more could you ask for? Welcome to NC this year, Whataburger! Welcome to Greensboro, may you have all the success you anticipated!

Stuck in this position for 20 minutes
    Dennis S.

Okay... first off...I know they just opened, but taking this long to get the kinks sorted out is probably normal, except the fact that I was literally stuck in the drive thru due 45 minutes this morning getting breakfast. It took 20 minutes to order and I couldn't leave the line as the lady kept disappearing for one reason or another. Then instead of paying attention, she was talking on her phone on the speaker to a friend. Normally I can let that slide but the breakfast was underwhelming. Didn't help it was cold by the time I was able to get home as the food sat for nearly 30 minutes in my car. I got the breakfast burger, interesting concept but the flavor was just bland and commercialized. The sausage and potato taquito was nothing crazy. Tasted like a bland burrito. Eggs are extremely poor quality. Then the honey chicken on a jalapeño cheddar biscuit was pretty decent. Tiny. Like a chikfila biscuit. Give them a month before going. But so far? I don't get the hype. Especially when all we have are BURGER JOINTS

What A Burger!!!!!!!!!! So excited to have this. Soft opening today. Friendly staff. Good food and brand new store.

Sadly, after all the hype, I have to rate this as a less than mediocre experience. After waiting in the line for approximately 40 minutes, we made it to order point where we were informed that there were no junior size burgers available. First of all, it's disappointing since now I know I'm getting a frozen burger. Second, it's ridiculous that you aren't offering the option to pay the same price. Suck it up if you can't offer what's advertised. We received undercooked, disgustingly disappointing frozen burger mush. Never again.

    #2 Double Meat Whataburger
    Sean T.

Came back a third time for breakfast. I got the honey butter chicken biscuit. It was good not great but worth the money. I also ordered a coffee with caramel and it was good. It was only one car ahead of me but I still ended up pulling past the window and waited for a few minutes before getting my order. Over all it was not too bad. I really want this place to succeed.

    Kim G.

What a disappointment. The service was a bit long. Maybe because they took their time to over cook my burger. I was excited about the size of the burger, but my goodness...that burger meat is extra dry. It was severely overcooked. No flavor at all. No sauce that brought out any flavor. The fries were ok. My son liked the chicken strips, but I wasn't too impressed. I tried it and I think I'm good.

It's a great little restaurant with a fun atmosphere and great music. We started with the Fried Goat Cheese Balls and the Fried Cauliflower, and both were excellent. The goat cheese balls were crispy on the outside and creamy inside, while the cauliflower was perfectly fried and packed with flavor. I ordered the Jalapeño Popper Burger special, and it was phenomenal. Juicy, cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of heat and all the flavors you'd expect from a great jalapeño popper. Easily one of the better specialty burgers I've had. They also have a great beer and wine selection, which made it easy to find the perfect pairing with our meal. If you're traveling and looking for something far better than the usual fast food off the interstate, Hops Burger Bar is absolutely worth the quick detour. Great food, great service, and a place we'll make a point to stop at again the next time we're passing through.

Since I was driving back by on my home the next day, had a late lunch. Arrived around 3pm on a Friday and sat at the bar. Given the hour, it was fairly quiet. Weird experience, bar was wide open. I went to the bathroom and when I came back, someone decided to sit in the seat right next to me. Why?! I must comment on the service. The barkeep got me a menu quick and I ordered a water. During my meal, my water sat empty for 5 minutes or so even thought I counted 8 staff members behind the bar. Given the time of day, it was not busy. I ordered onion rings (as a side) and the Bacon Jam burger as it came with the "cordon Bleu" fries. The onion rings stole the show. So good. The fries were not my jam. Low quality cheese sauce with lunch meat ham that was diced. My fault, I should have subbed regular fries as I don't like stuff on my fries. I was expecting it to be a seasoning. My mistake. The burger was good not great. I got the 12 oz size and learned it is 2 fat 6 oz. patties stacked. Makes it VERY tall. The description of this burger is shown in one of my photos. Again, it was good but the flavors just did not pop. Wish I got the French Onion burger. Next time. :-) I do recommend!

It was quiet inside, but that didn't deter the staff from efficiently taking our order and getting us burgers hot and fresh within about 15-20 minutes! I like that it's an order at the counter place, with a very distinct feel of getting a higher end burger at a place with waiter service. I think more restaurants would greatly benefit to change to this model, not everything needs a waiter, and customers are generally happy to handle getting their own drinks while saving the tip. Anyhow, I went with the smashburger special, two smashed out patties topped with American cheese, pickles, onions, shredded lettuce, and burger sauce. I got tots for my side, because frankly, I think tots are the superior potato consumption method. The patties had a nice crust on them, plenty of beefy grilled flavor, nicely seasoned. The cheese and onions provided balance, and acidic hits from the pickle topped it all off. Very tasty. The tots were fried crispy just how I like them. Everyone else at the table had a similar premium experience with their items, and we all agreed this was a great pivot. We'd come back!

While the exterior is a far cry from the "vibrant patio" the restaurant description promises, the interior opens into a clean, bright space, which is more spacious than one might expect. On the front counter you will see an artistically designed menu board, depicting the many creative offerings available here. When I invited my coworkers to join me here for lunch, 2 immediately began ardently affirming my choice, regretful they could not join me but promising I would love it. In this moment, vague memories of them talking about this "really good burger place at the gas station" for months on end began to come back to me, as I realized they had been indirectly recommending it for a while. On the other hand, my 3rd coworker, who was in a separate room and had not heard their high praises, told me that it was "overrated" and "fine but not that special." Lol. Needless to say, I had absolutely no idea what to make of it all when I arrived. When I walked in, the woman behind the counter asked if I had ever been there, before patiently walking me through the various sections of the menu and helping me pick something out. I settled on the Popper Topper, which promised Cajun spices and fried jalapeño coins, among other various toppings. At its smallest size (big), it only cost $10.99. I also ordered bacon and cheddar fries. My initial impressions upon receiving my food (quite quickly, I might add) is that 1) the restaurant's name is perfect and 2) this is a very good quantity per dollar and an absolutely absurd calorie per dollar meal, especially in 2025. For right at $20, I got a huge burger and enough fries to satiate 2-3 people. I cannot fathom what the larger burger sizes look like, much less who could possibly be ordering them. The fries were everything I could have asked for -- crispy, salty, and with a very generous amount of both cheddar sauce and bacon (the perfect amount to have sauce on every bite but not be soggy). The burger was good, and definitely satisfied that primal craving for salt and fat that we all carry with us from hunter-gatherer days gone by. However, I wouldn't say it was particularly spicy, nor did its flavor deviate significantly from any generic burger I could order. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious, but I was a little disappointed. I think that the fried jalapeño coins are breaded a little on the thicker side, which somewhat mutes the spice and slight acidity that they would otherwise add to this dish, to help cut through and brighten the other flavors. All in all, I had a great meal and would totally come back, but I don't think I've tried the "perfect" burger from here yet. Definitely going to recommend this to anyone in the area.
