Place was very busy being the Xmas travel period; but Jonathan was the single cashier and treated everyone one very professionally and with a smile. I ordered a single burger to go and waited patiently for my order. Again, being high volume and very busy, I struggled to find any trash / dirty tables inside. Whataburger is a welcome site to most Texans , so seeing that orange and white roof Located within the Austin airport grounds before you get to economy parking made me happy. I arrived at the airport about 5AM and only the drive through is open. I ordered a sausage, egg biscuit. When I paid the cashier he doesn't give me back my change (which was 17 cents). I had to wait for the manager to come over, open the register, have the cashier break open rolls of coins to give me my change. If customers aren't getting their change back all day long ,how much extra money are you ( cashier?, Whataburger?) collecting... So disappointed and upset with this behavior. I notice this happening more often that fast food drive through aren't giving change back especially if less than 5 cents. Lobby was a decent size, food was good and at the time I was there it came out faster than any other Whataburger I've been at. It wasn't crowded but it had a steady stream of people. There's a fun rivalry between who's state has the best home grow fast food of this or that sort and the. The Californians vs the Texan's weee the loudest rivalry but it's solved. There's literally no comparison or competition though because how can you compare a place that serves a super simple menu with one that offers more options than the average pizza parlor without instituting a massive handicap? You're a solid 4.5 (so I round up to 5) if I compared to those options I've tried with similar menus and pricing. The Wataburger I recently tried in Colorado Springs though would have been a 3.5. I wasn't sure if I was a fan, but after being a Texan for the last 2 years, I am. This is not my favorite burger spot (here's to you, Culver's), but they do well. Their Dr. Pepper shake hit the spot during my last pregnancy! Any place that has a mobile app and gives me rewards is always a plus in my book. Of course I'll take a free burger (or more)! However, my patties felt a little overcooked, but nothing detrimental. Fries were cooked to a great crisp. It definitely hit that teenee hunger pangs I was having before hopping on the trip home. FOOD: 3.5. VALUE: 3. SERVICE: 5. Staff was friendly, food came out fast. What's there not to like?! I don't know why there are so many negative reviews of Whataburger. It's fast food so if people were expecting some kind of fancy place that caters to your every need, look elsewhere. I've been to many Whataburgers in TX and this one is no different. The line moved quickly inside and I never experienced any of the rude behavior at this location. In fact I only knew of it because the Hilton across the street did not have their restaurant open for lunch (due to the pandemic) and the front desk told me this place was open for lunch. Naturally I was excited to just scoot down the street for lunch. I got a #1 combo meal and it came out just fine. I dined in so perhaps all of the complaints were from the drive through. I didn't see a long line there either so not sure where the breakdown was. The restaurant was fully staffed and no shortage of workers were spotted. Lady at speaker box said hold on a min which is totally fine except 10 mins later someone popped on and said "has anyone taken your order?" Surprise surprise the location with 2 stars didn't have great customer service. I would recommend recording yourself ordering at the call box so you won't be gaslit by staff that you didn't say something you know you said at the call box. If you have the "pleasure" to have the manager Sarah take your order just know you might not get what you asked for. Even if you stated it at the call box and 3 times at the window where you pay. If you need a refund, you may get a chance to have a meet and great with James!!! The GM. James will not de-escalate the situation. When I entered the restaurant there was no one in the drive thru or inside waiting on an order. I ordered just one bacon, egg, and cheese taquito to go. Seventeen minutes later I asked what was the delay. The flippant response was they had a big order to get out. I asked why they wouldn't tell customers when they place an order that information but the person just shrugged her shoulders. New location. Nice facility. Manager was nice. That's the good news. It's all downhill from there. Unfortunately the workers have no 'Common Sense' and are poorly trained. The person ordering in front of me received a bun with onions only (I.e. an onion only burger with no meat, etc). He had ordered a burger with 'no onions'.
