Decent Whataburger off the highway. Give them some credit, you never know how it is to work here until you clock in.

The Double Double is a double meat patties with cheese sandwich and then I had grilled onions added. This is how I like it. I was a multiple time a week regular of In-N-Out back in the 90s all over Southern California...then hadn't eaten it in over 20 years till the first one opened in Austin (and I was there day 1). With that said, today my burger was really great and I don't know if it's cause visiting here now often that I'm getting used to it again or what but I'm liking them again. I got the #2 combo, which comes with a cheeseburger, french fries, and medium drink. The cheeseburger had a fresh beef patty, cheese, tomato, and lettuce on buttered buns. It's a yummy juicy burger stacked tall! The fries are seasoned well and crispy from the potato skins. The ketchup pumps are at the island in the middle of the store. You can get your own self serve fountain drinks to the left of the counter. They even have pink lemonade, which was perfectly sweet, tangy, and refreshing! Fast and friendly service. Very efficient. Because we were on foot and not in a car, we simply walked up to the counter and ordered from the friendly server. P. Terry's is not fancy but is just what one would want in a burger stand. I ordered a basic hamburger, which happens to be high-quality Black Angus. I requested no bun, and they offered to wrap the burger in lettuce. That was a nice touch. It was a huge leaf, perfect for wrapping around the burger. The tomato slices, pickles and onions were the perfect accompaniment....and at $3.10, it's quite a deal! It kept me full during the movie and eliminated my desire for popcorn. The server gave us water, which kept us cool and hydrated on the walk back to the theatre.

I think the default is you should never order burgers for delivery and I'm going to start with that. We got 2 buddah burgers regular and small, fries and they gave us some chicken tenders. SCORE! Again this was a delivery order so the review is based on this specific experience. Initial bites in everything , flavor is bursting. Good quality beef , not super fatty (which I love- only want a greasy burger if it's thin), the quality of Ingredients over all were great. I think if I had gotten the burger without cheese and no lettuce I would have enjoyed it more. The melted cheese texture with the soggy lettuce did not last the trip, and I felt like they took away from the burger overall. The sauce was quite good it reminded me of a cross between egg salad and potato salad. The fries I think had like gochujan powder or something were good but if I had it fresh would probably have enjoyed more. Initial bite of tenders were really good but after bite 2 it was like too much bullion in the batter. But in a samich with some coleslaw to cut through the salt I think it would have been great. The only problem I had with the meal overall was the sodium level which had me feeling kinda bloated and sick (could have been from driving and eating a salty spicy chicken earlier). But I will definitely give it another shot and I would go in person for sure it's not a delivery type item and I would probably tweak my burger or samich a bit.

Somehow, against all odds, Ramen Del Barrio still exceeds its reputation. There's only one vegan ramen option but it's all you need, both in terms of portion size and flavor. I've never had anything quite like the mole tsukemen, a Tex-Mex mashup pairing rich mole broth served separately from handmade noodles so thick, you might mistake them for udon at a glance. Simple toppings of fried tortilla strips, avocado, charred jalapeno, and caramelized onions adorn the top. Before this moment, I thought I just wasn't a fan of mole. It turns out, I had never tried great mole before. This stuff dazzles with layered spices, melded so well that I can't pick a single one out from the pack. It's not overwhelmingly hot, but definitely leaves your lips tingling. I'm glad I finally got there before they close up shop at their current location in Hana World Market on December 21st, and even happier to know that their new brick-and-mortar isn't too far behind. I'll be there as soon as the doors open!

When a master chef dies, It is usually very hard to his or her restaurant to recover. Brotherton's has taken a serious serious loss. * * * 1) The brisket that was once exceptionally tasty now does not taste like much. 2) Ribs that were highly regarded are now nothing special. 3) I can't say whether the pitmaster was responsible for the sides.
