We eat What-A-Burgers about 3 X's a week for lunch. We order the #8 what a burger Jr's. It is two 1/8 patties with all the lettuce, tomatoes, onions,Mustard. It is the same as a quarter pound but less bread and half the price! You have to really watch the order people. They aren't thinking junior burgers and on my burger i ask for extra lettuce no tomato. I do get a little more lettuce but it isn't extra lettuce 65% of the time. crazy huh. But we just keep after them. Our favorite.. 45th WhataBurger! Good parking, mostly good service. Pulled in the drive through. 25 minutes later still sitting there. Not a lot of customers were present at the time. You could tell by the parking lot. Decided to leave. I didn't have a tall order. Everything is bigger and maybe better in Texas, well if we are discussing burgers at this point. Bottom line up front... if In&Out was right next to Whataburger I may just walk to the orange W.... Beef seems just better in Texas.. At first the burger looked small in the wrapper,was kinda worried, but then I picked it up, it was heavy....dense and real flavorful. Being from California, In & Out is a So Cal rite of passage... but.... now, I may be swayed. This location is our absolute favorite! They always go above and beyond with customer service. For example, we app ordered late and curbside & lobby were closed and the drive thru was way backed up. It wasn't very busy. I ordered our food, drove up to the window and paid. I counted 8 people inside doing various jobs. Waited 10 minutes for our food. They gave it to us, we took it home, opened it up and of course that's where we figured it out it was wrong. Ordered one of burgers without cheese and with mayo, it had cheese and mustard. Ordered onion rings, got fries. The other burger was correct. Yes, I probably should have opened the bag and checked, but I might have noticed the onion rings that wasn't there, but unless you open up the burger your not going to know. The girl at window didn't look like she was thrilled to be there. It's hard enough getting in and out of this location because of the road work going on. Bad service doesn't help. On a more positive note, there are several different locations to get our fix. Love Whataburger! read more

Amazingly, it was open the night of Thanksgiving Day as so few places in Amarillo were. Ordered the A-1 Thick'n'hearty Whatameal. Someone in the kitchen had given it a whole lotta love - compressed it after it was wrapped - and the result was an inedible gummy bun. I ended up taking a knife and fork to the innards after removing the bun putty. Distractions included the cashier's girlfriend prancing around the place as if she owned it. Even worse - her big ole' momma was there too glaring at everybody who came in or out. But what else could you expect in Amarillo on a holiday night? If you can find another Whataburger 25 miles away, go to them instead. This particular one is so mismanaged it is unreal. When you find the day that they haven't run out of hamburger buns, or the Co2 for the fountain drinks, you will wait FOREVER for your food. This particular Whataburger should be called WAIT-aburger. I have not had one In quite some time but the last ones didn't taste like hot dog smothered in mustard like you get at a baseball game. One of my favorite places to eat in Amarillo! They are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we live right across the street!! We have trekked through snow just to eat here! Well, it was our fault for showing up before the schools let out for lunch, but still. We ordered our food a few minutes before the high school lunch hour hit, and waited and waited to get our food. Of course this wasn't a short wait. Several others got their food before we did, it was quite ridiculous, mind you these people had ordered minutes after we did. The wait continued, the once bustling fast food joint became empty, yet we still say, waiting for our food. But they ended up paying us back for our meal, and then the wait came to an end.
