Everything in this place needs a improvement. I came here to pick up my order I placed by phone. Came after 15minutes, waited patiently in front of the register. I see three staff working on a tablet I'm sure for online orders that's fine. Not one person turned around or asked me anything. After about 10minutes, I explained that I called in my order. They asked, what you ordered and I explained a simple BEC on everything bagel. They had a bunch of people and orders waiting, than was like they have an Onion bagel with BEC, unfortunately I couldn't wait for them to re-make my order as i needed to go back to work. I just left. This is not the first time they screwed up my order but this time I needed to put up this review. Because the attitude I received from the staff was ridiculous. If you need a bagel from that area, DO NOT COME HERE! Bagel boss and Family bagel are close by. Their bagels are fresh and you will get Quality service. Unfortunately what a bagel, is not what a bagel, it what an attitude!! read more

Me and my wife have been getting our bagels in this spot for the longest time. The cafe is best for takeout, as the seating area is small. Their bagels are fresh and chewy, they have a wide selection of cream cheeses, good coffee selection and a variety of sandwiches. I find the staff polite and efficient, and the system for ordering works well.  My preference on their menu are the raisin-cinnamon bagel, sesame bagel, lox spread, walnut-raisin cream cheese and strawberry cream cheese. Their bagel has a somewhat crispy exterior shell with an inner dense chewy crumb requiring some effort to bite and a satisfying "pull" when a piece is separated. Their cream cheese offers a rich, creamy and smooth texture with a well balanced subtle tangy flavor that's both fresh and milky. I find their prices reasonable but others may find it higher than other places. For anyone willing to try their bagel, go early for the best selection of bagels, as popular flavors can run out. read more

Everytime I'm in queens drinking, it's a non negotiable. My mornings start with WhatABagel. We get the Brunson special, bacon sausage hash brown egg and cheese on a roll, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. Always great service. Your go to deli. Quick dope vibe with a few seats inside. Never forget though, LG KNICKS. read more

Oh my gosh! $22 for two bacon egg & cheeses on a flag bagel! They put so much butter on it when i did not ask for it. It was disgusting!! What was with the amount of butter on the bagel for what? I only asked for it to be toasted. No butter. Why was there chunks of butter on it. & an up charge for a flat bagel?? What! This place was a disgrace. Never ever ever again!! read more

I ordered breakfast over the phone for pickup and the person on the phone had no problem. I let the person know "my coworker is going to pick it up can you put the name under Carla." When my coworker got there to pickup the food the person behind the counter gave him a weird look. As if he wasn't speaking directly to him. Until my coworker said something to him again then the person said "oh ya for Carla right?" It was coming off like this person was being judgmental and had a bias towards my coworker because he's a black man. We both will not be buying from here anymore and have already let all our coworkers know about this weird experience with What A Bagel. read more

I called and asked to order a BEC on a roll. He asked if I anted two eggs I said, sure how much. When I asked the clerk on the phone how much the sandwich was he told me he doesn't know. I asked again you're not sure on the price of the sandwich? He said yes I kindly told them to keep the sandwich. Clearly they want to charge people an arbitrary price based on the day of the week and how they feel. read more

This was my "go to" neighborhood place for bagels and BECs. Even during the height of COVID, I went to support them. But when the nice Korean ladies sold the place to new owners and one-by-one the super friendly guys behind the counter were "replaced"... I stopped going. It's been at least a year since I've been there, but as I was passing by on the morning of Sat. 6/7/25, I saw it was closed (temporarily?) by the health department. read more

The management has changed recently it seems and so has the quality of service. Are these workers behind the counter on a goal to yank out X number of bagels a day that they don't understand simple instructions about double toasting a bagel with just butter. Putting a slab of butter on a bagel should be a crime. I have been a customer of this place since my HS days. I am not going to be returning to this sweatshop of a bagel shop. read more

Their food is trash, they give you loads of bacon fat in their sandwiches and really bad customer service

This is what I'm going to say. If you purchase a card swiping machine/ merchant service and you have the customers paying your surcharge- it's WRONG and I'm pretty sure illegal. I will not. I did not here. I was driving to the hospital to see a loved one and saw a bagel shop. Being from Queens we have some pretty great ones so I was tempted. Started thinking up all the bagel possibilities in my head and walked right in. Couldn't figure what side to be on to order and ended up on the wrong side. It's pretty quaint inside. Anyway I go to order a salmon cream cheese egg bagel toasted and they seriously told me that it was $6 and change for the bagel but that I had to spend a minimum of $10 to swipe my card. Highway robbery NO WAY. We are talking about a bagel here. This isn't the airport. Absolutely not. I (almost) argued but I'm a consumer the power is in my hands. I literally went next door to Dunkin and spent $4. I got a coffee, bagel and hash brown. Would you look at that. I'm pretty sure one person isn't going to impact the business. But the business is impacting the community by using these practices of up charging clients for card usage. I have to pay to use my card and then spend at least $10 so you can avoid the fee I'm already paying??? How- please stop this practice it's wrong. read more

Please note that they don't allow credit cards for purchases under $10, thankfully I had some cash in my wallet. Overall this is a good place to stop by for a quick bite! I had an appointment across the street and then stopped by after around 9:45AM. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese with a small hot chocolate. It was ready very quickly! The everything bagel was good. The seasoning had anise which I don't love, but aside from that it was still a good doughy consistency with just a slight crisp on the outside. The scallion cream cheese was delicious!! Sooo creamy and just the right amount of scallion. The hot chocolate was good too, it was perfect for a cold morning. read more

Friendly and attentive staff with good selection of bagels in the morning. The bagels were all consistent size and weight however they lacked flavor and texture. The bagels did not have the density and chewiness I tend to like in my bagels and the exterior lacked crunch. read more

The Spanish woman at the counter has the nasty attitude. My first time stoping and last. I see that there a some mixed reviews here, so maybe it depends on the day...however, I have had a consistently pleasant experience here for several years now. My family has been coming to What A Bagel for several years now. Each time my wife and I visit my parents, her first thought is an egg sandwich for breakfast from What A Bagel! I do also love this place because there's a Sandwich named after me (not sure it's me, but I do order it every time). We've ordered the same thing now for quite some time: 1 Vegetable Omelette well done with Turkey Bacon on a Sesame Bagel for my wife, 1 Vegetable Omelette on a Multigrain Bagel for my mother, and 2 Dino Specials (2 eggs whites with Buffalo Chicken) with pepper jack cheese on an Egg Bagel for my father and me). They also have a coffee/juice bar in there, and some assorted baked goods (muffins are excellent). The place was also renovated recently, so it looks a lot nicer too! All in all, we'll keep coming back for awesome egg sandwiches! read more

This is a cafe with a side of bagel store. Cinnamon Raisin bagel - super chewy, no real cinnamon flavor and raisin are barely in the bagel. Cinnamon raisin cream cheese - absolutely flavoless. Not much cinnamon and hardly any raisins. Maybe for me the bagel bar has just been set to high. When you are use to the amazing crisp outside and tender inside of a bagel from Utopia BagelsBagels then you are probably going to be disappointed with any other bagel. Please see my review of Utopia Bagels for more on their scrumptuosity. In closing, I am one and done with this place. Once a blah bagel, always a blag bagel. read more

So I came here as their listing states, that they open at 5:30 and it's 5:43AM, I see them inside I'm banging on the windows and they don't care, the lady inside won't even hesitate to turn around and acknowledge me, it's so sad that she can't even face me and tell me 2 minutes, all she had to say was that she was still opening, I'm yelling I'm screaming hello and yet no response. Place has horrendous costumer service. Ive been going for years and there has been a constant decline. Three straight times I've gone and had my order wrong. Super nice place and a way better option than Dunkin Donuts. Just be prepared to spend more. I ordered two toasted plain bagels one with bacon egg and cheese and another with egg salad then a snapple drink. It all came out to $9.00 but I don't mind paying for a fresher option. The sandwiches were good and I got the right order unlike Dunkin Donuts. The place could use a little cleaning up by the window edges. All in all a good place and I will be back to try different things. From what I saw they have many different cream cheese flavors. read more

They're way too expensive to give such poor service ALL THE TIME. The guys taking the orders are pretty ok, but the Asian cashiers, both of them, are absolutely disgusting. They don't acknowledge you when you walk in, and I swear they make up the prices for the items you purchase. The bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches are hit or miss. Sometimes, the eggs are undercooked and if don't specify two eggs then you will definitely get a sandwich with one egg and be charged over $5 for it. I'm sure this place is frequented because of convenience but I will not patronize this mediocre place. read more

Good bagel, but the staff are not as friendly as the Glen Oaks area as a whole. The sandwiches were passable, but certainly not great. The coffee not bad, but also not anything special -- which is pretty sad. I recommend you stick with a bagel with butter or cream cheese, and opt for the regular coffee, as the taste of their flavored Joe has let me down 3/4 times. read more

I am a supporter of local businessess specifically that is few walks from my place. A busy workday morning in the store. I ordered my usual half dozen ( everything and plain)bagel and lax spread. I like their bagels as it is soft and normally lasts longer (more than a day) for left over than other bagel store. The service as always is great. Very productive staff, every second counts, they know that everybody is running to go to their offices after. Total cost for a breakfast of 6, very affordable. Skip the coffee for today, bagels are for visiting family from Cali waiting in the house. Take pride in asking them to try NY bagels. I would say , this store did not disappoint them. I used to like getting bagels & my iced coffee here but I am truly very disappointed with this establishment. The cooks are nice and I haven't had a problem with them as of yet however, I had ordered 4 iced coffees up front with the lady at the register and told her my preference for each one. She makes all 4 of them extremely milky (i might as well have paid for a cup of milk) and when I asked her to make ONLY ONE cup way darker she says (with the most sarcastic attitude) "oooooh i LOVE remaking the coffees". EXCUSE ME?!!!! That is you're freaking job lady! I give YOUR business money for a SATISFACTORY ORDER! Im sorry that you are just lazy and don't know how to properly make coffee. Once she "redid" my coffee it came out even more milkier. The stupidity is beyond me. P.s dont order any sandwiches from here they're not great. I would only recommend easy bakery services. read more
