It was fine for one night but I don't know if I would choose the same type room if staying longer. The hotel has some history behind it and can be a little creepy if you decide to walk around at night by yourself. Our room was #16, located on the second floor. The room was a decent size with a sitting area with two chairs and a settee and a small armoire to hang your clothes. The bathroom was small with a walk in shower but the shower pressure was good and the water was warm. No air conditioning but there was an industrial oscillating fan in the room. Unfortunately, I didn't find the bed too comfortable and the headboard creaked a lot but it was ok for just one night. Taylor at the front desk when we checked in was very helpful and informative. We left early, around 8am and they had a complimentary breakfast available for guests consisting of bagels, sweet pastries, fruit, Tillamook cheese and sliced tomatoes and cucumbers which I presume are for the bagels. Cute spread!

The bed was absolutely comfortable. The aroma of the inn was absolutely overwhelming and not a pleasant odor. Our room was a good size, but the furniture was from when the inn opened in 1888. Not comfortable to sit on and relax on. The curtains were tied back in their periodic decor which made pulling them closed an ordeal ( there were 8 of them). Our door to the hallway had a significant leveling problem and could see into the hallway when the door was closed. Although I can appreciate the charm of the past it felt like everything (carpet, furniture, doors, walls) was "dirty"

The place is clean, and it's just such a nice atmosphere. Not too fancy. A very nice atmosphere. The bartender was very friendly, and he made sure to take very good care of us. If there was anything we needed, somebody was there to help. The food was excellent. We had a choice. Of either chicken or grill your own steak, with all the trimmings. I had the steak, and it was very decent sized. It came with seasoning, barbecue sauce, and butter if you wanted to put it on, and then you just popped it onto the grill, and in a few minutes, your dinner was ready. My steak came out, perfectly, medium rare. It was tender, and it was delicious. They had several different desserts, and they were also very good. Afterwards, we just had a nice time visiting and catching up. It was a great event. The Elks always take good care of us. Thank you for a very good evening.

First off the location and facility is really nice. The building is huge with so much meeting / congregating space. Most importantly are the members. Such a warm welcoming group. I could see becoming an Elk sometime.

Our experience with this venue was extremely…read morepositive and we really feel that having our wedding at Mitchell Grove is a big piece of what made it so special. We looked at many, many venues in Humboldt County with a few requirements: we could bring our own caterer, we could bring our own alcohol, we could bring our own DJ, and it had beautiful outdoor spaces. Mitchell Grove not only checked all of these boxes but another one that almost no other venue did: BATHROOMS! Nice bathrooms! Multiple! (Seriously, this is not to be underrated). Also, you rent the venue from Friday morning- Sunday afternoon which is so so nice for DIY brides like myself. After weeks of trying to get in contact with various venues, dealing with grouchy venue managers and reading through not-so-generous contracts viewing Mitchell Grove was a breath of fresh air. The owners Will & Julie were extremely quick in their communications and gave us a same day tour. They spent so much time showing us around and answering questions and even offered to save booking our date for a week to give us time to decide. I had originally wanted to have our wedding at Pamplin Grove so that we could be surrounded by nature and the redwoods, and I feel like I missed out on none of that having our wedding at Mitchell Grove. It has big wow factor, and many of our guests were wowed by it's beauty as well. Through the year of planning Will & Julie let us come out to the venue a couple of times for planning and were always really gracious and welcoming while we were there. The weekend of the wedding they were helpful, available and did a lot of awesome behind the scenes help. Another awesome thing- they have lots of little extras available- such as chairs, various decorations, arch ways, etc. The weekend of the wedding went smoothly and I was blown away by how beautifully landscaped the entire property was. In the owners words- this is a perfect venue for "DIY-ish" brides. If you are looking for a beautiful laid back venue but also like maybe aren't into pit toilets, Mitchell Grove is awesome. If you are looking at venues in Humboldt County, at least tour Mitchell Grove before making a decision!

As for events, You name the event, I've probably been to it. Auto racing, the circus, I saw the lippizaner stallions here the Sunday flea market. The annual Redwood Acres Fair, (it's a small fair that runs for about a week, but it's always fun.). And one of the funniest shows I ever saw here, was called "extreme midget wrestling." I recently attended one of their summertime monthly events, called "acres of eats." a good sized selection of food trucks/trailers, entertainment, activities for the kids, etc. It was a wide selection of food. I had. A stew and an empanada from a Colombian food trailer. It was absolutely delicious, and the price was very reasonable. If you have a chance to go to this event, or anything else else at Redwood acres, it's worth it. I hope Redwood acres lasts for a long time coming. It's a wonderful asset to Eureka.

Additionally, the event (forgot the name) allowed the students to go on a hay ride and sit inside of a parked helicopter where race cars /monster trucks arena is usually held. Overall, it is a nice place to experience large events to small events like the county covid testing area.
