I had a medical emergency with my pet on a weekend I was S.O.L., they have no on call Vets for small animals. When you phone you will get a recording that directs you to a Vet Hospital in Edmonton, at one time they did have after hour services that is why I switched from another Animal Clinic. My case in point....I had an emergency with my pet dog on a weekend and was unable to reach anyone, I drove to Edmonton to see another vet, thinking that after my pets files could be transferred to this Hospital to continue on with his care....I called the office during weekday hours and spoke to Scott a vet explained the situation and that my dog would need a blood test ( as it was confirmed in Edmonton my dog had hypothyroidism and with the treatment he would require additional undated blood work) he advised me he would have Dr. Casper contact me that was 2 months ago and I am still waiting. I got the distinct impression that because I took my dog to Edmonton (as per their after hour telephone message) they would no longer continue his care...I am very disappointed. That after 15 years of going to this office they would treat their patients like this and I would have to continue his care in Edmonton..... Up to that point I had no issues with this business. My only wish is that Vets today cared as much for their patients, as owners cared for their pets who are willing to pay the ridiculous prices they charge even after hours. Very Disappointed

But the whole experience with Heritage Hills from making the appointment to leaving the clinic was smooth and reassuring. The lady at reception, Carla, was friendly and compassionate - you could tell she was an animal lover herself and understood my feelings. She had a very welcoming personality that made you feel at-ease. She managed to book us in for that same day, just a few hours later at a time that worked for me. When we arrived, they had no trouble getting her records from our usual vet, and they got her weighed and us in an exam room in no time. Dr. Khehra was very professional and soft-spoken with a friendly smile for his canine patient and myself. He quickly figured out the issue, did some tests, and prescribed a treatment. Costs of treatments and procedures were well described to me before anything was done, and were fairly reasonable, even with the numerous medications and tests my dog needed. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone in Sherwood Park.

The facility itself is very nice and clean with plenty of space in the waiting area. There's also quite a large selection of pet food and supplies available for purchase. I arrived 15 min early (as requested) so they could get all my info since I'm a new customer. After we got all the paperwork squared away I had a seat with my dog. I waited in the main area for 5 min or so before I was ushered into an exam room. I waited another 15 min past my appointment time before the vet showed up. That's one of my biggest pet peeves, because as a customer I'm expected to show up on time, as should the person I have an appointment with. I do understand that sh*t happens, and luckily I didn't have any other appointments that morning. It would have been nice if someone would have popped their head in and said "The vet is running a bit behind, sorry. She'll be with you shortly." But alas, that did not happen. The vet who examined my dogs was Dr. R.M. Pfeifer and she was AWESOME!!! She was kind and gentle with my dogs. Her exam was very thorough, and she made sure to point out that my dogs were very well cared for (healthy weight, good muscle tone, nice coat, nails trimmed, clean ears etc). I really appreciate hearing that from a professional. She had another lovely lady shadowing her and we all had a nice chat. I'm also going to acknowledge (as some other reviewers did) that some the reception staff seemed a bit...gruff. Let me clarify, no one was rude to me. Just a bit on edge in general. I also understand that it likely comes from getting crapped on day in and day out by customers. But ladies, if you're reading this it wouldn't hurt to lighten up a bit! It's ok to smile! I love his calm demeanour with both my cat and dog and my dog is always at ease with him. I never feel rushed and Dr. Stretch always take the time to answers my questions and my concerns. He also did my dogs knee surgery, she healed up so well and it is holding up beautifully! They don't over charge and my encounters and phone calls with the front reception staff have always been very pleasant and helpful! Please never retire Doctor Stretch!! :)
