I have been taking my dog to annual exams at this clinic for the lifetime of my dog, but only when my dog and I needed them most--did they completely fail us. Not only did they hire a completely incompetent and inexperienced doctor recently, but they hired an uncaring one. I am never going to this clinic again.
That doctor's name is Dr. Andrea Pellegrino. She has only graduated this year, 2015. I trusted her with my dog's life--and that was the biggest mistake of my life since she killed him with an overdose of drug injections. She has no compassion at all for animals, because she had no compassion for my dog when he was dying because of her. She only pushed us to kill him even faster so she could be free of any responsibilities and charge us extra money one last time.
Below are the details of the incident.
First of all, it took two different doctors on several occasions for them to actually diagnose my dog with heart disease. They should have detected his condition much sooner, but they were supposed to know that an early sign of heart disease was a mucous-induced cough. However, this is not the main reason I am leaving a 1-star rating. To be honest, I wish I could leave an even lower rating for this upcoming reason.
Secondly, when I took my dog to their clinic one day, out of worry that he was beginning to cough a little more than usual (despite being on several heart medications)--they pushed me to put him down. Note that my dog was conscious, breathing, and alert: at home, on the car ride, and in the waiting area of the clinic.
I do not know what the new doctor, Dr. Andrea Pellegrino, did to my dog--but when I brought my dog in--he was conscious and sitting on my lap, still responsive to me.
But within minutes of supposedly breathing oxygen in the back room--his heart stopped, he crashed, and he stopped breathing.
Pellegrino lied to us that he would be put in an oxygen cage, but actually he had an oxygen tube shoved down his throat. Then she continuously pushed me and my family to put my dog down.
When my dog's heart had stopped--she went to the back, and instead of doing CPR right away to save him--she asked us casually if they could start CPR. Like any concerned pet owner I said, "Yes, save him ASAP." She had no sense of emergency.
At first, Pellegrino and the rude secretary would not let me come with my dog to the back. But after Pellegrino and the technicians revived him successfully, I was finally able to see that he had an oxygen TUBE shoved down his throat and that they had given him numerous drugs by injection.
I believe hat my dog was overdosed with these drugs, because while my family and I were there--our dog vomited. Right after, he stopped breathing again. They did CPR again and revived him again, for a second time. And then injected more drugs into him.
After that, Pellegrino pushed my family to put him down. She kept saying, "I'm concerned," "You need to make a decision," even though my dog was conscious with me just a few minutes ago.
Only after few minutes did she inject 3 different drugs into my dog, and he crashed.
And she completely disregarded that I had told her he just had his heart medication at home a few hours ago.
Also: my dog was still moving after my family and I called for him. He was moving his paws, trying to remove the tube, trying to stand up, and his eyes were looking for us repeatedly--and yet--the nurses would push him down again.
Pellegrino said that he was brain-damaged and that he will never be conscious, when clearly he was. She forced us to put him down--even though my dog was still conscious and alive.
We were pushed to euthanize my dog. The reason she kept pushing us to do so? So she could move onto another customer. She pushed the plunger of the euthanasia needle very quickly too.
She could be free of responsibilities she had with my dog, and move onto someone else or go on her break. And remember, I deliberately use "customer," and not client or patient, for the next reason.
She did not care for my dog, or about saving him. She did not care about his life.
If she got rid of my dog faster, she could: 1) move onto another customer, and 2) charge us one last time for actually killing my dog. The final needle my dog was injected with, the euthanasia, was $120 alone.
So not only did she just want to get rid of my dog faster, she also charged us extra money for killing him unnecessarily.
Please do not make the same mistake as my family and I did. Please go to another clinic. Do not go to Crestwood. And especially, do not trust Dr. Andrea Pellegrino. She even thinks this review is funny. What kind of veterinarian does this??
Thank you for reading my experience with this terrible vet clinic. read more
