Brought my dog here for the first time for an emergency pyometra operation because I didn't trust our regular vet due to past incidences. When I talked to staff over the phone and in person, they were always kind and they were very thorough in their explanations. Her operation was also considerably less expensive than if I went to our regular vet, and they were very open regarding the breakdown of the fees. Its further from my house but they're definitely now my go-to vet if any of my dogs get sick again! read more

I am pleased with this veterinary operation. They served me and my little doggie Koko very quickly and treated us very well, we were not just a paying customer, our feelings mattered. I had been to other clinics and none of those clinics gave me the advice needed to deal with the anal gland problem that my 12 year old fur baby was suffering with. They gave the advice of a change in diet and that solved he issue. read more

We took our Mini Schnauzer to have some teeth removed. We were looking for a clinic that was professional, caring and was focused on our dogs needs. So happy to have found Dr Preuss. She took great care of our dog and the followup and after care support was excellent. our dog recovered quickly and was back to herself in about a week. SOPHIE says woof woof to all. read more

I went here last week to get my dogs yearly shots. Turns out that my vet moved away, and now I have a new vet. I felt like I had to re explain everything that my last vet learned in the past year. I was really disappointed that she was gone. After the inital exam, my doctor noticed some facial lumps on my dogs face and ended up diagnosing him with canine acne. She prescribed antibiotics and told me to pick up an acne creme for him. I was shocked when I was sitting at home reading the bill and I found out that the antibiotics cost me almost $80! One of the things I loved about my previous vet was that she always made me away of the financials. I was really annoyed to find out that I paid $80 for (essentially) acne medication. read more

Capilano Animal Clinic - Veterinarians Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

I do not have enough space to let everyone know how wonderful this Animal Clinic is! My cat Henry was a rescue from the Edmonton Humane Society who should not have been adopted out. However, i did get him and i brought him to the clinic and boy, he was one sick kitty! The whole team spent a total of 9 days working with him, trying to heal him with everything they had, short of a blood transfusion, which they offered to do for no charge because they all, and i mean ALL felt so bad for this little guy. We did not do the transfusion but rather felt that he had been put through enough and i made the decision to put him to rest. The team backed me up on this . I have honestly never dealt with a more caring and trustworthy Vet team. I know when i get another animal, i will be taking him/ her to see their new family at Capilano Animal clinic. I can't wait :) Thank you again, Jennifer Jorgensen, owner of Henry , the ginger cat. RIP read more

this is under new ownership...do not go based on the reviews!! these guys are awful. i took my dog there and explained my situation. they said end of may for surgery, so i took him there. nope gave the quote and now its end of july. keep in mind that the price goes up as the lump grows. disgusting. ten minute look at him and 95 bucks later i have to pay it again at a real clinic to get his surgery. i am appalled especially after explaining i would have to get a loan for this. you people should be ashamed. best of luck with keeping capilanos clinic with a good name. i would give -5 stars if possible. read more

One of the more difficult tasks of pet ownership for me has always been finding a reasonably priced veterinary clinic that (and here`s the important part...) I TRUST!! In this regard, Capilano Animal Clinic is a dream come true! Long story short, I have a problem cat (possession and aggression being the top issues)! I had tried everything with this cat from spray bottles to expensive diffusers to water additives - nothing works; she`s simply off her rocker - but how I love her so (re-homing this cat is not an option as 1. she is way too troubled to last at a shelter; 2. I have had her since she was found in a ditch in the country at 2-3 weeks old so we have been through a lot together over the last 8 years) so the struggle to make a happy household for all continues!!!! My BF and myself have recently moved in together (along with our 2 cats EACH). The situation had become quite distressing on a few occasions (cat fights - mostly a lot of screaming but that`s quite alarming in itself), so in order to assure that there were no health problems causing the behavior, I elected to get Sketch (AKA problem cat) to the vet for a check up. After reaching out to the wonderful Yelp community for recommendations, I chose to make an appointment here. Happily they were open on Saturday so I booked with Dr. Sung. I honestly expected that they were going to tell me to drug my cat. But to my upmost surprise, Dr. Sung did an in depth interview with me to get an idea of how things work in our household; and after telling me that she was impressed, and that I was on the right track, she gave me some advice on some techniques we could try, and told me that drugging her would be the very last option she would recommend! After about 30mins, I left with some reading material (including a diet plan) feeling completely elated with the service we received. They also had a little rescue cat at the office! Cutest little dude with some pretty notable neurological problems that they have been taking care of since he was brought to them as a kitten. Moreover, on Monday morning when I went to check my email there was an email written by Dr. Sung herself summarizing our discussions and offering a few more tips that she had thought of over the weekend! How much more perfect could it get - she cares so much about animals that she spends her weekend time thinking of ways to help them out - a true animal lover, and an absolutely amazing veterinarian! I have tried a few of the techniques and things have honestly started to calm down at home. Since I had such a wonderful experience, and have nothing but good things to say, I will be booking the other 3 in for general health checks over the next few months. If you have ever felt uneasy about your vet clinic, give these guys a call and I am certain they will give you peace of mind. read more

A great vet who takes the time, shows they care about your pets health, and are not too quick to recommend unnecessary treatments before getting the full picture or discussing natural options for pet health. Clear with information and instructions. Very reasonable prices. We will definitely be bringing all our pets to Capillano. read more

I have a hamster and it is difficult to find someone who specializes in hamster care. I called in beforehand to confirm they have a pocket pet specialist and booked an appointment. They are busy, so I did have to get an early morning appointment. Dr. Sun was absolutely amazing. She was very knowledgeable and empathetic. She really involved me and explained everything in detail to me as she checked my hamster's overall health. The clinic itself seems small at first but there are lots of rooms at the back for examinations and surgery. The staff is very friendly and professional. Another added bonus is that they always have a temporary resident (possibility adoptable) cat on location whom you can play with while you wait. I would recommend this clinic. read more

Wow is all I can say. Real professional and really friendly. Was dropping off My cat from Hell and the staff seemed taking her was a pleasure. The vet listened to all the concerns and addressed everyone of them. She even went as far as too call a few days later and be like maybe this suggestion will work. I couldnt believe it, she was actually concerned for my animal. Ive been to other vets that prescribe meds ASAP, that zonk out my cat and they become this living log, but not here, she said no to the drugs and first we will explore every other option, she musnt be on the Redford payoff plan, just sayn. Seriously though this is the place to bring your animals I give them 10/5 stars, they doubled my expectations. read more

After a couple of days of my kitty being sick, I hit Yelp, at 3 AM because I was too worried to sleep, to find the best place to take him and settled on Capilano Animal Clinic. The staff here is FANTASTIC! I called in as soon as they opened and they were able to get us in within a half hour. When checking in, the staff was very friendly and compassionate. There was a bit of a delay. Our appointment was for 9:45 and we had to wait almost a half hour before the vet arrived. Do I mind waiting a little for the awesome vets here? No. But if you are time conscious this might be something to consider. The vet was very nice, apologized for the wait, and got right into examining kitty. She laid out all of the options very clearly, offering her advice and recommendations on what to do. I never once felt pressured to make a decision or do something that I wasn't comfortable with. She was also very, very transparent. Every step of the way, she let me know what she was doing, what options we had, and the approximate pricing. She was very patient and willing to go over anything with me I was worried about and answer all my questions. After picking up kitty, I was worried over the bill (things get pricey real quick in vetland) but was pleasantly surprised to find that they had given me a discount where they could. Despite my never having gone to the clinic before, they gave me the regular client discount. On top of this, they called me a few days later to check up on kitty and see how he was doing. The care and compassion at this clinic is unbelievable. If you are looking for a place to have your pet cared for, look no further. These folks are absolutely wonderful! read more

After a couple of negative experiences with my previous vet, I decided to stop wasting my time and money trying to find the 'right' clinic for my pet and I near my home through trial and error. Instead, I took to Yelp to check the reviews! This clinic has mostly 5-star reviews for a reason! They are always so very friendly to myself and my small dog. They don't even mind that she's a nervous vet-goer and sometimes makes a little mess on the floor. The staff/vets remember her from visit to visit, and I'm always informed promptly of any changes to privacy policies and the like, and reminded of her on-file prescriptions. I've seen 2 of the clinic's vets, and everyone I've interacted with there from doctors to AHTs to administrative staff have been friendly and knowledgable, always able to answer my questions and more than happy to give me as much reading material/information as I will take! They seem to genuinely want to help pets and educate pet parents. I didn't have the usual "sticker shock" reaction on our first visit as they are very reasonably priced. And they do remember their return customers on follow-up visits. All costs were mentioned to me during the exam and explained when I asked. They didn't force the most expensive options on me, but rather worked with me to figure out what worked for both my dog and I. And while they have in-house products (food, supplements, etc.) they didn't push the products during exams or during check-out unless I asked a question and the product was relevant (e.g., my dog has food/environmental allergies and, when we did a food trial, they carried one of the possible brands, so they mentioned as much -- they still didn't 'hard sell' it to me). I've been a happy client of theirs for at least a year or more, and with the level of care they afford my pet and I, I don't see that changing anytime soon. read more

They saved my dog's life, and that should say enough. But as long as I remember this clinic has taken care of our dogs. They saw us through new puppy vaccinations, regular check ups and sadly the passing of several of our animals when the time came. The staff has always been able to navigate the situation with chipper, or serious but empathetic reactions. One day we rushed in with a dog whom my senile grandmother put through a load of laundry. The clinic managed to stabilize a hypothermic, dog with chemical burns, aspiration (water in her lungs) brain trauma and multiple injuries, while still managing my family's meltdowns. To this day that dog who is now of a ripe age of 13 visits with the rest of our pack for her yearly check up, and still pees on the unwaveringly kind vet techs. Our dogs all happily see Dr. Sung. read more

After my cat becomming extremely sick I brought him into this clinic. They were able to accomodate me a couple hours after I called in (which is rare to find). Unfortunatly while there my cat stopped breathing and was placed on oxygen. I had to make the hard decision to put my cat down. I have absolutly nothing but good things to say about the Capilano Animal Clinic. They were totally understanding of my situation. I felt like they truly did care. I found that their prices were reasonable (I know they are one of the cheaper places just for the fee to even view the animal). And they do not try to get as much money out of you as possible. If you are low on funds they do try to work with what you have. I found the staff friendly and would reccomend this place to anyone read more

My dog got diagnosed with cancer. Not only was there no compassion from the vet and the staff, They quoted me almost $1500 for surgery to save her life. I went to a different clinic and they charged me $500 for the same procedure. Don't take your pet there. read more

Took a very sick chinchilla here last year. The doctor diagnosed and set up an effective treatment plan right away. She walked me through all the steps and made sure I understood everything before I left. Full checkup and medications cost less than the meds and antibacterials I picked up at walmart to try and avoid taking her to the vet. Cannot recommend this clinic highly enough. read more

Look, this is the ugly truth about vet clinics. If you come in with a sick animal and you have never been there before you are going to pay through the nose. All vet clinics. The only way to save money is to go out of town, but then you are spending time and money on gas. BUT, if you have a regular vet that you go to in the good times (not just the bad times) you start getting treated more fairly. As vets go, I am very happy with this vet clinic. I take my animals there for the routine stuff and when there is an emergency (pourcupine quills/urinary tract infections) I do not get taken to the cleaners and robbed blind. read more

I am beyond impressed with Capilano Animal Clinic! My dog has epilepsy and after a scary adventure to the E-Vet downtown one Sunday I discovered I really needed a full time vet, and Capilano was the closest! Dr. Sung read my dog's file from Southern Alberta before I arrived and knew almost everything about him already; I needed to tell her very little. My dog hates vets, so when we went in to see Dr. Sung, she suggested we just let him walk around and get comfortable, which he did and was happy with! She conducted the exam on my lap rather than on the counter, because he does not like the counters. I am in there at least once a month whether to get new meds, or another blood test. Every time they are pleasant and helpful. My dog was whining during his last blood test and I could hear this and they were very good about it, and he is always happy when he comes back. All in all, I recommend Capilano Animal Clinic, and especially Dr. Sung. I am very pleased, and once I start breeding I will be taking all of my puppies there. read more

I have been a satisfied client of this clinic for years, however the day I had to put my elderly dog down due to cancer ended up being a grave disappointment as the vet told me she had taken a paw print for my daughter to cherish and remember him by. Weeks later after I had received a condolence card but no paw print I called to see when it would be mailed out and was told it had been already. When it still hadn't arrived a few weeks later I called back and again my concerns were brushed off saying at this point that it had been mailed to a wrong address. Again no sorry just saying no luck. read more

Absolutely love this clinic. I used to take my dog to their sister clinic in Ottewell as it's slightly closer to us, however my dog was behaving very strangely and definitely out of character one day which worried me greatly as I felt something was severely wrong with her. I couldn't get an appointment at the Ottewell clinic that day but they recommend their sister clinic at Capilano and I'm so glad they did! I got an appointment for that day and took my dog in right away. They did an exam and we ended up taking X-rays and a urine sample to diagnose the problem. As people have mentioned the doctors at Capilano are great at walking you through and explaining the prices for everything before doing anything. Also their prices are very reasonable! Like I said we got an exam, X-rays, a urine sample and medication and it didn't break my wallet. It cost less then blood tests I've gotten at their sister clinic. Capilano clinic is now my vet for both my dog and new cat and I've had the pleasure of having both Dr. Leversedge and Dr. Sung treat my pets, who are both equally amazing. I've never had an issue with getting an appointment in a timely fashion but if you're having an emergency and they can't get you in then go to an emergency clinic. They'll even tell you the locations of them if you can't get into their clinic. I highly recommend bringing your pets here if you want staff that actually care about your animals and not just about making money. read more

My husband and I have been going to Capilano Vet Clinic for the past 12 years, Dr Adrienne Leversedge has been our primary Vet, We absolutely adore her, you can tell at this clinic everyone truely love pets, We have had some health issues with 2 of our boys in the past year, And Dr Leversedge has been right on for diagnosis, We trust her immensley, The staff is wonderful there, no fancy office, it's all about the pets, and there well being, Dr Leveredge is kind and caring, wouldn't go any other place ! Thanks Dr Leversedge and Staff P.S. Matthew we miss you ! read more

I cannot recommend Capilano Animal Clinic enough. When our house got broken into, our beloved cat got traumatized, developed clinical depression and severe anxiety and started peeing and pooping in the house. Dr. Adrienne Leversedge worked with us to address the issues. She helped us explore different options including Prozac to make sure we tried everything. When nothing helped and we had to put our cat to sleep, dr. Leversledge performed the euthanasia procedure in the most sensitive and caring way. It was one of the hardest decision we've made but our cat didn't have any quality of life with his condition. Dr. Leversledge is a real animal lover and she went out of her way on numerous occasions to make our cat and us feel comfortable. Her and all the staff at the Capilano Animal Clinic are wonderful! read more

I was recommended to see Dr. Leversedge by another animal care practitioner for some ongoing chronic health problems with my dog. Our first appointment was great and Dr. Leversedge was very caring and helpful, and I have no complaints about her as a vet. The clinic is extremely busy and the only appointment I could get within a reasonable time frame was in the middle of the day so I had to take a day off work. But I got good service so had my pet's records sent to Capitano as I expected them to be my new vet (had just moved to Edmonton). Since then my dog has had two emergencies (porcupine quills and potentially broken foot). Both times I called "my new vet" thinking they would take care of their new patient. Both times they basically said they were too busy to do anything and that my only option was to try to call other vets to see if someone else would take me. The first time this was while my dog had a bunch of quills in her face and she was freaking out and my own vet was not willing to do anything about it and now I was supposed to call a bunch of other vets while trying to calm my dog. The second time her wrist had gotten extremely swollen and she couldn't walk and was wincing in pain and they suggested that they could MAYBE see her in three days time but maybe not. Could they really care less about the health of their patient? Meanwhile I called a friend's vet who I had never see before and they were really empathetic and were able to fit me in within two hours and did an X-ray right away. I only have my one previous vet in Vancouver to compare my experience to, but they once came in from home to treat my dog for an allergic reaction and would do everything they could to care for my dog. So even though Dr. Leversedge is good, I will not be returning to a clinic who will not be there when my dog needs them. read more

I've used the Capilno Animal Clinic for about 15 years. I've never had a bad experience or felt gouged when paying the bill. They were very kind and gentle both times I had to put my cats down, and they've been really great with my new dog. I have met with the Vets Dr Sung and Dr Leversedge, and they are both very professional, very good with me and my pets. Outstanding local gem! read more

An absolutely great clinic with amazing staff. They are so good to my pets and provide excellent follow-up and additional info/consultation as needed. This clinic is great! The receptionists and vet techs are all really helpful and friendly. They try their best to fit my dogs in for last minute appointments. We have taken our dog and cat to this vet and we have always been impressed with how much the staff truly care about our pets. We brought our cat in when he was messing outside his litter box and when it was determined it was psychological the vet emailed us very helpful information about how to correct the issue. We have been using the clinic for our puppy for regular checkups and spaying and again, very thorough and helpful, and caring. They called me right after the surgery to give me an update on how she was doing. When we picked her up they gave detailed instructions on how to care for her after the surgery. Prices have always been fair, the spay operation cost only about $45 more than the spay clinic which I felt was reasonable for everything that was included. If you want a vet who truly cares about your pet and doesn't try to nickel and dime you this is the place to go! read more
