Never going back. Me and my family tried on 3 different days to paddle board with this company. All 3 days we were turned away for different reasons. We've rented from this group before and were less then impressed by the disorganization of the rental process. However, the actual activity was fun and the scenery was beautiful. So it made up for it. This time, when we were turned away, we were given instructions by the staff on how to not get turned away. Come right when they open, call ahead, check the weather before coming. Welp that did us no good at all, considering we were turned away 2 more times and when we tried calling in advance no one picked up or returned our calls. If you have a high tolerance for disorganization and a lack of professionalism, check them out. If you are easily frustrated when family beach vacations are hindered by the stupidity of a third party, dont waste your time. read more

Very bad staff, arrogant, not understanding the beginners. If you are new to SUP do not even think about going there. Sad cause is a very nice area, maybe you can find other places to rent the SUP-s, even though you would have to carry them to the beach. Worth the effort to carry the boards, then dealing with Westwind Sailing Staff. SUP in little beach is very nice though. read more

Although we had a blast paddlesurfing around the harbor, the staff let us know we were allotted to one hour right as we were taking off.. we took our best guess on how long we were out and arrived 14 minutes late.. the attendant was so rude and dis-respectful. I asked for our receipt and he spouted out 'Seriously? Im not going to rob you!' which made us even more skeptical... they need to get with the program and seriously work on customer service relations. read more

I went paddle boarding for the first time today and frickin loved it! The location in Dana Point @ baby beach is really cool and Steve is an awesome trainer. He gave me a 5 minute lesson and off I went. Balance is the key. I shockingly did not fall once. I paid $25 for 1 hour (board & paddle rental) and I'm pretty sure he let me paddle for way more than 1 hour. Can't wait to go back. I found my new hobby! read more

Very friendly and helpful staff, if you have never used a SUP or kayak before, they will make it easy. OK equipment, some of it is pretty beat up but it still works. Prices are just ok but ease of use at these docks is worth it. Biggest issue we had today is that you are limited to 1 hour only. We felt rushed the whole time which spoiled our fun. Why not allow equipment to be rented for longer periods? If the equipment comes back early, you win! Not sure if I would use this location again simply due to this rule. read more

This is the perfect location to go paddle boarding. They are right by baby beach in the harbor. They have the boards on the dock by the water. I was really nervous because it was my first time, but the instructors were really nice and helpful. $25 for one hour. For a beginner, one hour was the perfect amount of time for me. I can't wait to come back and paddle board again! It was easy and so fun. read more

The guys that work here are super friendly and helpful!!! Price to paddle board is a little higher than at the other end of the harbor but you don't have to haul the board anywhere- you drop in right there! And they aren't stiffs about the time. So unorganized. I realize on a warm summer day you would have a wait and that's fine. Until.... You're told there's a 45 minute wait for SUP and 20 minute wait for kayak. You choose kayak because it's your sons 7th birthday and you don't want to wait too long. You go down to baby beach to wait your turn. All the while you can see a pile of at least 4 boards on the dock. We go up to tell them we will take whatever combo they can accommodate first. 45 minutes has now gone by. You go to check on the status. A family of 5 shows up and needs 5 SUP boards. Magically they have them available for that family and we get put in the kayaks despite having waited double the quoted time. I work in the service industry. Giving accurate wait times and staying organized is of utmost importance especially during peak times. read more

I took a 6 week class here that was taught by the owner/director of westwind and it was great! Diane is extremely involved and accomplished in most any water sport out there, and is one of the best teachers I have met. They have some programs made for kids and teens (they were all really good, too!), I wish I had been enrolled in one of those programs when I was younger! read more

We Love Westwind Sailing!!! Westwind has been part of our summer routine forr the past 6 years. I have 3 children from ages 9-12. they all started when they were 6 years old and have continued with camps for the past 6 summers. The couselor/instructors have an excellent rapport with all the children and really make learning to sail safe and fun!. I think more than just a camp they are intoducing these kids to a new lifetime hobby, instilling a love for the sport of sailing. I have seen my kids become proficient sailors with the help of West wind's great staff. Westwind sailing camps are by far my children's favorite camp of the summer season!!! read more

I am giving a positive review because in the end things worked out but I still feel it was kind of pricey. Sunday morning we went for a paddle at the dana point harbor only to realize when we got there we left our paddles at home. We figured we would just rent the paddle not the board. When we got to the stand to rent the paddle the girl said they were closing because it was too windy. We then walked down to the dock where the kayaks were leaving from. We asked the kid working down there how long the kayaks were going out for. He said 1 hour. So we asked if we could rent a two paddles from him. He didn't seem to mind but then this blond haired girl was like no we are closing its too windy. We explained we were experienced, they have kayaks going out why not rent us two paddles. The girl was really unhappy about it, but the one guy said it was ok. So we go up to the tent to pay and she wants to charge us $50.00 dollars for two paddles!!!!!!!!!!!! We said really???? The other kid under the tent said $15 each. We said fine that the price we pay for forgetting ours. So we paid $30. The blonde girl was just miserable. We did have a really nice time paddle boarding, such a great day. read more

We signed up for a family sailing class for spring break. Highly recommend westwind sailing. The folks were helpful and friendly in scheduling the course. The business is organized and well run. Price is good for this sort of thing. We were able to set up a three day class, three hours each day. We had two boats with one parent and one kid in each boat. Steve was our instructor. He is great with kids and adults alike. A real people person! Yet he also had the right mix of making it fun with instructing and focus. He took us from complete ignorance to a passable boating vocabulary and consistently doing reach turns and docking with confidence in just a few hours on our first day. We are looking forward to two more days of instruction. All in all a great introduction to sailing for the whole family. read more

From parking the car to getting on a paddle board it must've been 8 min total. I decided the night before to head down to the harbor and paddle board with my 11 year old. Service was awesome, loved that I didn't need to call ahead or reserve a board. This was at 10:15 am on a Tuesday morning, so maybe later in the day or weekends are different.
