Blissful indeed! I…read morerecently moved to the area, and wanted to paddle board. With some research and the luck of a yelp coupon, I happily scheduled a lesson with Paddle Board Bliss. They are so helpful with scheduling, and rescheduling (: The location is beautiful. I was worried to have my first lesson on the open ocean opposed to the Back Bay, but I am so glad I learned in the deep blue AND on a day with choppy waters! It really helped me overcome my fears of falling in, and oh..can I have a moment to gloat? I DIDN'T FALL IN MY FIRST TIME! Woot woot! wuu! AND I saw dolphins (and yes, when I saw that first dorsal fin I was scared shitless) I can't wait to go back this sat, and every sat till summer ends. This was the perfect place to learn, I'm glad I did my research, and had a lesson with a FANTASTIC instructor who was attentive and patient. i heart you paddle board bliss, think this is the beginning to a beautiful relationship!

I prefer to paddle in the ocean vs. the harbor because it is more challenging and provides the chance to see more wildlife. For example, the water depth in Diver's cove is 9-15 feet, so you can see the bottom and the various wildlife that inhabit the area including Garibaldi or giant orange fish. Since we were all comfortable in the water, we just rented boards for 60-minutes instead of taking a lesson. This worked out fine and I ended up leading the group to seal rock, which was a blast! We were hoping to see dolphins, but had no such luck. Keep in mind that if this is your first time paddle boarding in the ocean, you may get sea sick like my sister LB. Luckily, she is a physician and knew how to handle herself. During the summer months the cost of renting a board is roughly $30, and$10 for each additional hour, which is kind of expensive, but well worth it.

Very accessible to reach via text and email. Waivers required as well. Now having tried this for the first time in the ocean, I recommend a harbor paddle if the waves may intimidate you or, even, wear my own O'Neill life jacket (jacket is more for returning back to shore). This activity was one for our friends' bucket lists and we all had the best day!! Yelp recommendations did not leave me astray. Thank you! Decided to plan a paddle board rental and beach day with friends for a birthday surprise. If you're planning something like this, I also recommend a patio lunch at the Rooftop Lounge as it is not far either from theLaguna Beach location where we met Erin. We were a small group of four and she accommodated us perfectly. The weather was perfect this week so we didn't need to adjust the time of the excursion either so we enjoyed an early evening two-hour rental. The sunset-ish vibes were incredible too, to be on the ocean. She met us and had our boards and paddles, dry bag (if needed), and our floatation safety equipment on the beach ready for us. She guided us with specific instructions to get out over the waves. She then walks us out with our board and makes sure we go out one-by-one. It was such a rush to get over those waves, because I admit, the ocean can be intimidating. All the places I've swam before, I've never really encountered waves this big or a boat dropped me off to snorkel. Waves are just another element. The best advice was being on our knees and just digging the paddle into the water as fast as possible and next thing I know, we are all out in the ocean having the best time! The experience is amazing and we haven't laughed like this in a long while. I stood up to paddle board only twice, but I fell on the first try. I admit, I felt much more comfortable paddling while on my knees. It was perfect. Note: SAFELY return to shore, come in one-at-a-time as Erin instructs. She and a lifeguard were amazing and helped us return. For me, it was much needed. I am so thankful for their assistance. Those waves, man oh man, a big lesson for me that day, but we are all still reeling, laughing and talking about the day. FYI: If choosing a longer rental as we had, I'd recommend using her dry bag and bring water, a small towel (in case you do go in the water and need to dry salt water from eyes as that does sting) Also, use durable ziplocs to secure anything you may get wet. I also had my phone in one of those necklace protector sleeves and it took surprisingly took great photos through the plastic. Reminder for me to also secure the dry bag on the paddle board straps much more securely too as it did get wet, on accident, in the water when I was returning to shore. The waves knocked the bag off the board but easily retrieved. Just wet because I didn't close it properly-oops. Actually, just assume whatever you take into the ocean will get wet. One friend did lose her Ray Bans, but Erin warned us prior. Oops! Nonetheless, the best birthday surprise!!! So much fun!!! I highly recommend a beach day paddle boarding (find an area you're comfortable with the waves though or stick to the harbor). Don't hesitate to check with Erin because she is so helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you again, Erin, for such a great beach experience.

The pace is chill, there's a disciplined, not regimented, routine with plenty of "non-surfing", wholesome fun (projected movies, games, guitars, skit and talent shows, in the lounge tent). You don't need to have any experience surfing, or you can be a shredder. There's always instructors in the water that are willing to coach you or you can be left to your own talents/whims and do your own thing. They bring the boards as well as lunch all the way down to the beach for the kids and instructors to enjoy (it's a bit of a walk to get down there and I assume it's easier and more convenient to bring the lunch and gear to them). The boards provided are just fine. My son had his own wetsuit and booties so I can't comment on the wetsuits. I grew up in Southern California but we live In Austin, TX. I only mention this because we can't surf in the middle of Texas (generally)! Meaning, zero experience is ok here.
