Pesto chicken sandwich w/ onion rings
    Lulu T.

I wanted to like this place, I really did. I visited to eat dinner by myself and was sat immediately at the bar, by my request. I overheard the hostess quoting a table of 7 an hour wait, at 7pm, and the server said it wasn't that busy of a night. The bartenders and servers were wonderful, so thoughtful and attentive, and the space felt like an upscaled, clean bar. The food, however, was pretty disappointing. The onion rings were limp, needed another minute in the fryer, and I really wish there were more veg in the sandwich. Overall would not go back, though the service was great. 5 star service, 2 star food.

Was excited to try This place as we hadn't been since it was the Shamut Inn. Was truly underwhelmed- while service was decent the appetizers were had were okay, though one of the least flavorful artichoke dips we have ever had. Unfortunate as there were a lot of artichokes. Drinks okay. Perhaps just an off day - may give it another try.

The restaurant was quite active for a Tuesday dinner! Our family (two adults, toddler, and newborn) straggled in and were greeted by the most kind hostesses who let my toddler pick out her crayons and interacted with her by name. We were seated in the outskirts of the restaurants near the garage door/windows and next to the back exit. In hindsight if I knew people were going to use that door frequently I would've asked to sit elsewhere since the draft was strong. Otherwise though this space is nicely airy, sound controlled, plenty of TVs. We didn't try their extensive drink menu but next time will! I loved my meal (the sirloin) and my husband thought his burger was just fine/nothing special. Fries were good, portions generous. Very family friendly with high chairs and a changing table in the bathroom!

We and three other couples met for our usual every couple of months or so dinner. All of us were once neighbors and now live in every possible direction so Westside Social was a fairly convenient place to meet. We were seated and quickly served drinks while we studied the menu. We arrived at 5 and by 5:30, the restaurant was packed in both the inside and the covered patio. Three of 8 ordered salads and appeared to enjoy them. One ordered the Monte Christo sandwich and thought it was a little dry but otherwise pretty good. Two others ordered Skillet Macs and both thought they were good especially as Monday night was $4 off all Skillet Macs! Saving the worse to last. My friend and I both ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich. Not only was there not even a trace of honey visually or to taste, the chicken was about as overcooked and dry as it could be. The garlic parmesan aioli was also non existent adding to the dryness. With all the great chicken sandwiches in GR, I had high expectations. Oh well. Service was adequate but not what I would call great. Drinks were refilled prior to the food coming but with the busyness of the restaurant, our server was not seen until it was time for the bill. If I was rating Westside Social based on my sandwich, one star would be generous. To be objective, 6 of 8 of us enjoyed their meals so four stars is a valid rating. I'll write my choice off to simply a bad night or bad menu choice.

If you're looking for scratch made comfort food that is thoughtful and full of flavor, then this is your spot. Dish was awesome and portioned enough to make a second meal the next day. The staff was friendly and helpful. Both the restaurant and bar area were crowded so be patient.

Visited for a group dinner and thoroughly enjoyed my main dish & cocktail! The ambiance was lively, but not too loud and our sever was very sweet and attentive. Would definitely visit again the next time I'm in town!

Great spot close to downtown! Food is good. You can get in line for a table online via Yelp! Happy hour specials Parking can be a challenge during busy times, they have an overflow lot to accommodate Will be back!

When I think Sunday brunch, I think Westside Social. When I think dinner, I also think Westside social. This place is a treasure to the walker area. The good: $4 mimosas, $5 Bellinis with fun flavors, decent brunch prices and their crispy breakfast potatoes are dreamy. I have never had bad service here, and the weekly specials keep me coming back over and over again. The "okay": I believe they recently stopped doing Saturday brunches, so Sundays we tend to fight for a table with larger parties. The brussel sprouts are subpar and cocktail menu could be a bit more diverse, but I understand that is not their demographic.

Visiting MI from GA and stopped here yesterday to give it a try. I was very impressed with the unique menu and cocktails. There were premium ingredients from the cocktail drinks to the food. My boyfriend and I ordered the Coco Verde Margarita and Blueberry Gin Gin, both were made to perfection. Well made crafted cocktails with fresh ingredients were included. The wings we split half mango habanero and half seasoned dry rub. Both flavors were tasty and full of bold flavor. The wings were a decent size as well. The chicken and waffles were plentiful and made to perfection. The Turkey club sandwich was tasty and paired with the unique Parmesan peso aioli fries which was a great touch on the entree. The patio view was soothing and comfortable with an ambiance of a bed of garden flowers. Our server Hannah was amazing she checked on us regularly and offered menu advice based on what we were interested in. An overall great experience to start our day. We'll be sure to return when I'm in the area again. We highly recommend.

WS had been on my list of places to try for years! Finally visited on a snowy Sunday for brunch. Due to the weather, there were fewer patrons than I anticipated and my party was immediately seated. The interior and decor is pretty much what I expected: rather modern, casual, very clean. I chose the infused Bloody Mary and the hit chicken sandwich. Both were good, although the hot chicken was "west Michigan hot," and by that, I mean barely. I'm not such a huge fan of the butcher paper on try presentation, but it matches the restaurant's overall vibe. Our service was excellent and attentive. The food came out quickly and we had plenty of opportunity to order other drinks and cash out in a timely fashion. I'd love to come back for dinner and give some of their specials a try.

I will admit that I had super high expectations when I came here for the first couple of times. A lot of people rave about the vibe and ambience of this place; yes, it is quite nice and fun, but I didn't think it was amazing or anything! The first time, I sat out in the patio, and the second time was indoor sort of at the back which I liked. People talked about how impressive it is to have so many people in the restaurant, yet it doesn't get overbearingly loud. I agree- it was really nice to have the quietness to it. I got the MI Craft Beef Sirloin and thought it was alright. The meat was on the tough side, and I felt like the mash potatoes were on the salty side. The gravy wasn't anything special. But I had a friend get the same dish another day and liked it, so maybe I was coming in with a little too high of expectations? The next time, I got the Lobster Mac. I liked how they had a lot of lobster meat in the dish. Honestly, I'm not a huge Mac and cheese person, but I only tried it since people raved about it. This is totally a personal preference, but I wish the macaronis were just a little bit bigger! So I can't give a fair assessment of this dish, sorry... but other people seemed to love it so maybe it is worth a try? The waiters and waitresses were super nice though. I really enjoyed the service. I'll still come here because I want to try their other dishes.
