The hidden gem in Hope valley! If you're in the area you have to stop in for a Bismark. The doughnut shells have the perfect texture and the raspberry filling offsets the whipped cream perfectly. If you like cherry pepper relish and all the fixings on your Italian grinder, you need to try it. It all comes together perfectly with this sandwich. The tuna salad grinder really did it for me. For 6.50, it was a fat sandwich and just the perfect amount of salt and pepper for a really good lunch. I had never had a Bismarck before and the cream and jelly spread on the insides was a genius combination in a pillowy donut stick. The grinder came with provolone, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. We were looking for a breakfast spot in the area and stumbled upon this bakery. I was surprised to see all of the seating inside, as well as how busy they were. We decided to grab a table. I ordered an iced chai which was good and a nice start to the morning. I ended up ordering an omelet. It wasn't bad but was your basic diner food. Also, we definitely waited a while but I definitely didn't hold that against them because it seemed like they were short handed. The crowds seemed to come and go up at the counter. Upon leaving, the baked goods were pretty much wiped out and we had no idea that once they were gone, that was it. You have to swipe them early and that was definitely a blow considering my fiancé really wanted a cinnamon roll. I guess the baked goods are a hot commodity. read more

Go for the Bismarcks but grab a pizza strip and cinnamon bun as well! I never had a Bismark before a family member introduced me to them. This delicious creation of a long donut with jelly and cream is AMAZING!! The pizza strips make for a delicious, quick lunch. West's cinnamon buns are light and fluffy and full of cinnamon with the perfect amount of icing. Covid protocols are followed, the staff is very friendly. I have been hearing about these delicious bismarks and had no idea what they were. I finally had the chance to try them! They are delicious!! Similar to a donut but in a hot dog bun shape with a little jelly and a light sweet cream similar to a jelly donut with less jelly and lots of cream. It is really good! Also got to try a blueberry muffin and a zeppole which are delicious! The muffin isn't too sweet and blueberries are a good size! The italian grinder was very good too! If you visit this place you definitely have to try the infamous bismark! read more

This was probably one of the worst breakfasts I had, which says a lot since it's pretty difficult to mess up breakfast. We sat down and was told they are out of pancakes. Can't you just make more batter?? I ordered the Texas StyleFrench Toast. The waitress then informed us that they don't have Texas toast. Strike two. I ordered a decaf coffee which obviously was the bottom of the pot because it was like mud. We also had to wait about half an hour to actually get our food. Went to West's Bakery for their breakfast. Okay, imagine if you going some place where the people cooking the food know a bit about baking and pastries. Let us just say they are passionate and really know what to do with the odd flour, water, cream, salt, sugar ... concoctions. Now, let us just say they decided to take all of those skills and make a step to making breakfast. Yes, you can see it in your minds eye right now. So if you are a pancake fan, you must try these. Also, I had a bacon and cheese omelet. Now normally I would tell you on is roughly as good as another, but not the case. This one was wonderful. Not too eggy, real bacon just made on the grill and real good cheese. The Pancakes were amazing (I had one on the side). The wife had french toast with banana and cinnamon sugar. All were perfect. So the secret is this, they are a bakery. They made the bread before they made the French Toast. They made the English muffin before they served it to me. The made the pancake mix, from scratch knowing the secrets that only bakers know around how to make a flour mixture magic. Then, as you are sitting there in amazement, you remember that you read Yelp and remember something mentioned that looked like a hot dog. So you look around, and you see the display case. There they are, the Bismark. Let me warn you, if you eat this, you will feel as though the universe has somehow changed. Yes, it is that good. It is like a long donut pastry, shaped like a hot dog bun filled with homemade cream and a raspberry jam. So why not a 5 then? Well, they seem to be missing something. I am not sure what it is. I love everything about West's. The staff is always super friendly. Breakfast is simple but delicious. Get the Italian toast, they make the bread and my husband gets a side of it no matter what he orders. The bismarks are to die for, so light and delicious. I've never had anything bad! Best brownies ever. Amazing lemon squares. Do not skip the donuts. I don't love muffins, but the blueberry muffin is just beyond all others. I can't say anything bad about West's. Ok since my Dad is the mayor of this place, I think I sort of have to give them 5 stars haha. I am kidding guys, West's doesn't get favoritism from me because of that, they are honestly a damn good bakery. Question me? Have a Bismark (or a Berliner for you worldly folk). Their sandwiches are quite tasty and the service is very welcoming to alter any menu item to your pleasing (this is a local place people not a chain!). Hey, what are those things that look like cream-filled buns in the display case? They kind of resemble lobster rolls, but they're right next to the cookies. Those are Bismarcks - delicious pastries that taste jelly donuts, yet are best eaten like hot dogs. These things melt in your mouth, and the cream filling is light and fluffy enough to keep you from feeling too awful about stuffing your face with them. There's also some delicious-looking grinders and a lunch counter here, but I'll save those for another visit. read more

Two things you get at West's Bakery are the strip pizza and the Bismark whip cream filled "doughnut". The word doughnut is in quotations because you have never had a doughnut like this ever in you life. EVER. Call ahead and reserve them if you have too.I'm serious. This place is down home, small town, and the West family still helps you at the counter. I love supporting small business. I've been coming here for years at this point and it is my favorite breakfast spot in South County. I love the brownies, apple squares, muffins, and chocolate cake doughnuts. Their breakfast is really good. I only got a sandwich one time but it was also good, and cheap. The prices are very reasonable. read more

When I mentioned this to someone I was told that all three of them took turns taking care of tables.
