False advertising outside the restaurant! They refuse to sell you this breakfast with coffee for this price at any time of the day.
Graham C.

This is a dishonest business. My wife and I used to be semi-regulars at this place. We went once or twice a week. The food was good and the prices of the specials was decent. Honestly, though, I did not always look at the bill as closely as I should. I realized that despite the fact that an all-day breakfast is advertised as $5.99 on the sign that is outside the restaurant, I was being charged more. I was being charged $6.99 for breakfast AND I was charged $1.49 extra for coffee. The sign, as you can see for yourself, is 3 eggs, bacon/ham/sausage, homefries, toast & tea/coffee for $5.99. No time restrictions. My $5.99 breakfast was costing me $8.48! So the next time we went in, I drew this to their attention. They said that was before 11:00 am. (This happened in the afternoon. Their menu has an every day breakfast item for $5.99, before noon) I demanded that they honour their advertising. Staff check with manager and they said they would do it this time. When the bill came, I was charged $5.99 for the breakfasts, plus charged extra for coffee. I went in a few days ago. I asked for the all-day breakfast advertised on the sign. I was told that they let us have it last time, but that was it. No more. I told staff that I was leaving unless they honoured the price. They refused. I was given a whole song-and-dance explanation about how they have been informing all of their customers about the increasing price of bacon and tomatoes, blah, blah, blah. I told them they could solve the problem by removing the sign. No, they said, it's the only sign they have - they can't remove it! A) It's not the only sign they have. B) That sign is advertising only one thing - and it's something they won't sell you. Three days later now - the sign is still there. BTW, this is not some permanent kind of sign. It's a sandwich board that keeps getting blown over in the wind and they keep putting it back up. I told them that I would spread the word about this. They said that they hoped that I wouldn't. This business draws people in with false advertising. Their most prominently-advertised feature is something that you can't get there. If you order it, they will overcharge you. Please don't support this dishonest and untrustworthy business.

Not a lot of great options in the Pickering area yet for foods, but we stumbled across The Social…read moreBar & Lounge. For those who are familiar, this is very similar to Smash Kitchen vibes. Menu is a tad over priced, but I can't deny it tastes good. Not overly salty or oily as bar food often is, and I actually really enjoyed their pasta. It's definitely a great place to go for a bit of a splurgy night with friends where you're prepared to pay $20-40 per person. I like it for a date night to have some heavier foods that I wouldn't want to try cooking at home. The short rib pappardelle was the best. I love the flavour and it's not too crazy heavy, even though it looks really creamy. It has very beef stew type vibes. The chicken wings were well cooked and still moist. I think it was too much flavour going on though. You LOVE the first and even second wing. But by the third one, I felt like it was getting too heavy. I know though that a lot of people love that and can't get enough of it. I personally don't like too much of any one thing. The brussel sprouts I felt the same. It's really yum for the first few bites but it gets really heavy after a while. I think it's really fun to have the appetizers and share a main with someone. The foods are a bit heavier, more of a flavour bomb, but everything is executed well and the staff are really nice! We've even done take out and the portions were very much the same.

We ordered the daily special 2lb wings with fries for $17.99. We chosed jerk and roastic garlic red pepper. The jerk flavour was good but they could have tossed more sauce in the wings. The roasted garlic red pepper was a dry seasoning. The wings are very large in size. The french fries were fresh cut yukon potatoes seasoned just right. Now for the bad. The wings tasted dry or may have been refried. I would expect them to fry a fresh batch of wings for my order. We ordered the 1lb mussels with white sauce. The waitress told us they were almost out of mussels and not enough for 1 lb so they gave it to us for free. The mussels were served with buttery white sauce with green peppers and scallions. Mussel meat was small but the overall flavour was pleasing. We also ordered 2 pitchers of Stella Artois. Draught Beer was fine not watered down. Overall the experience was ok but the quality of the wings can improve. The server was new and she was not familiar with the menu offerings but I was able to download it myself on their website. If you're in Pickering this place is a decent place to meet up and have a few drinks and pub food. P.S. they donhave daily and everyday specials. Check the signage scattered in the restaurant.

It's located in a plaza next to Rexall, anchored by a Food Basics. I headed eastbound along Steeles Avenue East, which becomes Taunton Road. I then turned right on Westney Road North, eventually making a left into this plaza. There was plenty of parking when I arrived. I backed into a spot and walked in. We reserved a couple of tables. We were ready to eat! We got there just before 4 pm. Our friendly server advised that its new pub menu was available for us to order from, as well as its main menu. It's a Caribbean restaurant that puts an island twist on many items. There are also non-Caribbean food if you're not feeling like having spiced-up items. From the pub menu, we got these items: - Loaded crunch burger - Mushroom madness burger - Greek salad - Beef nachos - Jerk chicken poutine - Jerk quesadilla We ordered these items from the main menu: - Special chicken lo mein - Spicy pepper shrimp - Honey garlic beef short ribs - Szechwan tofu with rice We started off with drinks. I ended up with a Hibiscus fruit mocktail. I couldn't tell you what was in it, but it was cold and delicious. Our table also got colourful drinks, including a mojito. We also got a pitcher of icy water. I went up to the bar to get a refill roughly halfway through our meal. The female staffer was so nice. She brought the refill to our table and even topped up our glasses. The food was excellent. I sadly couldn't fit the burgers in my system. They looked amazing. I love mushrooms, so I was especially sad that I didn't get to try the mushroom madness burger. Both burgers that we ordered came with fries. It seemed weird to order a Greek salad from a Caribbean place. Hey, we got to get some greens in. I was impressed at how much feta we got. I enjoyed this salad. The lettuce and onions were crisp. The latter didn't have that raw, burning taste to them. The dressing was delicious. The beef nachos were amazing. The beef had big, bold, beefy flavour. The melty cheese was great with the sour cream and crunchy nacho chips. I normally don't like sour cream, but this place didn't overdo it. I liked the lighter-handed approach. The jerk poutine was amazing. It had the best seasoned jerk chicken morsels with crispy fries, a decent gravy, and cheese curds. The jerk quesadilla stole my heart. The cheese pull didn't seem to want to stop. It was the same flavourful jerk chicken. It was delicious. The mains were equally as good as the pub items! The special chicken lo mein was indeed special. The lo mein was chewy and yummy. The sauce was on the saltier side, but it wasn't horrible. I liked the veggies, especially the baby corn. It had tender chicken morsels mixed in. On top of everything was even more roasted chicken. Wow! Everything was delicious, including the chicken on top. The spicy pepper shrimp were incredible. If you like spicy deliciousness, get the shrimp. They were perfectly cooked and yummy. The honey garlic beef short ribs were scrumptious. The sauce had the best mix of honey with garlic. The ribs were tender. I loved the red and green peppers. Yum! The szechuan tofu was a nice alternative to meat. The flavours were bold and perfect. I loved the cubed tofu. I actually brought this dish home with a mound of steamed rice. This eatery has a lot of seating. The bar is gorgeous. There's a huge screen for sports games there. You can also watch games anywhere in this restaurant as there are screens everywhere. If you do want a change of pace, there's a pool table near the entrance. I used the washroom before leaving and heading home. The women's was clean. This eatery has lunch and student specials. I'd like to try the former items one of these days. I had a great time with friends here over yummy drinks and food. I can't wait to return for more. (285)
