A great stop in Poulsbo, after a very warm ferry ride over to Brainbridge Island. Interesting and welcoming interior, modeled after quite a bit of old lumber harvesting tools and red cedar plank walls throughout.. thus the name..Western Red. Not too busy when I first arrived, but as the Kraken game was playing, a few people arrived to watch as well as a party starting upstairs. Donna was great telling me about the history behind the name and knowledgeable about the great selection of beers they made, as well as ciders and wines available. Of course, seeing they made a red ale, it was first to try on my list. Not too heavy, smooth drinking and great flavor, a good solid dark red ale. It went down quickly, being a unusually warm afternoon for the area. Next up, was the Hop Assault, which was surprisingly smooth given the amount of hops, four varieties jammed into this crisp, perfectly hopped masterpiece, well made and not over hopped, another great beer actually anytime, I can see why it is one of the popular beers. I still had time for one more, before checking in to the hotel, so I selected the Strawberry blonde ale, another popular one, and another with a low octane level, lots of strawberry flavor, which was great, as most strawberry ale I've tried, have been a little weak on strawberry taste. Definitely the best strawberry blonde I've had. Lots of seating inside and you can see where they make all the brews as well, light snacks are available and plenty of parking, it's a little outside the busy downtown area of Poulsbo, which helps with parking. Definitely worth trying when in the area. Yelping on! Cheers!

My wife and I stopped into WRB while visiting Poulsbo since they were listed in our Hop Passport. Free limited time (2 hr) parking can be found on the street. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Indoors is large and spacious. Perfect for large groups. WRB is family friendly. WRB offers complimentary popcorn and cards/board-games to enjoy while slurping on a couple of pints. Outdoor food is allowed since WRB doesn't have a kitchen on-site. My wife and I each enjoyed a couple Single Buck IPA's and Export Stout's for $6 each. We both enjoyed our slurp choice. Orders are place at the counter so staff interaction is minimal. The interaction on the day of our visit was friendly. Thank you WRB for whetting our whistle.

    That logging font though!

Great beer (try the Red Kolsch or the Hoot Owlin' Hefe if you aren't a fan of the IPA), amazingly friendly staff and a pizza place next door whose employees will walk your order over when it's ready. The decor is Sawmill Chic and trivia night is a big deal. Highly recommend. #freepopcorn #somanylogs

I was excited to come to Western Red, a new brewery that I never have been to before and my experience with the beer just wasn't all that great. I saw that they had something on the experimental side, a Mojito IPA. The beer was fairly tasteless. I wasn't able to detect much of the Mojito idea and it didn't really taste much like an IPA either. It was disappointing. Steve got their Power Wedge Porter and while I thought his tasted a little bit better than what I ordered it too didn't have robust flavor like what we were looking for. The taproom is just a few blocks from downtown Poulsbo and is an easy walk from there to the brewery. The taproom itself is pretty cool, nice and roomy and able to have quite a few customers without it becoming cramped. The staff are fairly friendly as well so that is something that's going for it.

I love Western Red Brewing! WRB is a newer brewery in Poulsbo. Staff here are incredibly nice and friendly. They have a nice variety of brews that rotate and they are passionate about their beer! Try a sampler to find your favorite beer on tap! I got a tangerine beer that tasted great! You can also get growlers filled up here to take home their great creations. The brewery is dog friendly and they have treats and a water bowl for pups. You can order food from outside delivery places and have it delivered here or choose something off of their snack menu. They have peanuts, smoked salmon and cheeses as well. The tasting room itself is really nicely designed. I love the big wooden bar top and tables. They also have Thomas Edison lights, which are my favorite! All in all I highly recommend Western Red Brewing. I really enjoyed the brewery and experience.

Western Red Brewing (WRB) 19168 Jensen Way NE, Poulsbo (360) 626-1280 Beer tender Rachel, very nice person. She is proud of the accomplishments of the brewery. She seems to enjoy her position beer-tending; You can tell by her service style and her choices when suggesting what beer best represents the brewery. Thank you for a pleasant visit. Head brewer: Denver Smythe All ratings are only my opinion and specific to the particular visit. Ratings are on a scale of: 0-5 stars. Powder Wedge Porter 5.2% ABV - IBU 24 Style: Porter - American A dark, full bodied beer, coffee notes. The Aroma of this Porter is earthy. Good blend of coffee, Thick great chewy malt with a short clean finish. The end sneaks in a touch of vanilla. ****stars Haywire Red 5.1% ABV - IBU 40 Style: Red Ale - Amber Style The aroma has a hop malt balance that is very good. A little biscuit and Carmel and malt sweetens the beer. The combination makes this brew a little softer than other reds. The Warrior, Falconer's Flight, and Amarillo hops, brings out the flavor and gives enough bitterness to carry through the finish. *** 1/2 stars Red Kolche ABV 5.7% - IBU 19 Style: Kolsch The aroma is malt sweet with chocolate highlights. Dry medium finish. ** 1/2 stars Stout. ABV 4.5% - IBU 31 Style: American stout This is a light stout. More like a medium brown. The flavor and aroma are very soft. ***stars Springboard Kolsch ABV 4.32% - IBU 24 This kosch has a nice light aroma A little on the Bready side and Sandy at first. The second taste is much nicer and clean. Nice drinkable Kolsch with a short finish. ****stars. Daddy Sawbucks Wee Heavy Scotch Ale ABV 9.5% - IBU 39 Style: Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy This Wee Heavy is a collaboration between Cash Brewing Co and Western Red Brewing. It is amber to brown in color. The Laphroaig scotch oak barrel aroma comes out immediately. A little on the sweet side to me. It Must be from the scotch soaked oak chips and maple. Good malt. Sweet finish. *** stars.

Great beer, great location, and fun trivia night! Just make sure to reserve your spot!

Great local spot. Service was quick and friendly. Featured local beers, ciders, wine and non alcoholic options. Gluten free lovers rejoice plenty of options for you hereX A little bit of Trek from downtown Poulsbo but definitely worth it. Pizza spot next door if you're hungry, board games available. Kids and pets welcome, but I recommend just bringing the four legged kind and letting the kids stay home. Private event space available for rent. Everything you could want for a local brewery, highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Great beer, fun atmosphere! They have lots of stouts as well as a really great red ale. My favorite is the Red Kolsch. They have ladies nights on Wednesdays and live music. Great place to just chill with your friends and have a delicious beer!

Beer and frank for $10. 2 people in the background wearing jackets because of the indoor temp.

It seems to be a favorite place for families to gather during those times, which can make finding a seat difficult. By early evening, most folks have cleared out, and it's pretty empty as the 9:00 hour approaches. We particularly like sitting upstairs since there's pinball close by (four machines), which we used quite a bit on our last visit. And, of course, there's their beer, which I love. My favorite is the Eagle Harbor IPA, their signature West Coast IPA. Their Kömmuter Kölsch is also one of my favorites (and likewise my girlfriend's favorite). I frequently buy cans of both to take home (which you can also buy at the Safeway on High School Road, and at the alehouse on Winslow near the ferry terminal).

Our bar host was knowledgeable, chill, and poured our flight for us. We were able to look out their big windows to a sunny afternoon. They also had TVs running different sports. They have a great variety of beers and surprisingly I liked all 4 in our beer flight (a rare occasion!) We skipped getting bites since we had a meal coming up. Would love to come back next time I'm in the neighborhood!
