Great brewery, supports local musicians who play live, has a friendly atmosphere, their beer is great, the service is great.

The brewery was a great find off the beaten path outside of Kingston on the way to Port Gamble. Sorta in a small commercial area ( like a lot of breweries) seating choices inside or in a covered heated area. A beautiful sunny afternoon with the big doors open, was perfect to try a flight of the many, Hood Canal brews. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable about the selections. I really like the tray the taster flight comes on, it made it very easy to know which taster was which. The place had a really cool vibe, playing reggae music which was cool and fit the afternoon vibe. Hood Canal has been around since the 90's so they know how to brew good beers. They also have rotating ciders and wine available. Light snacks are available as well. After a flight sampling, which all were top notch brews, from different types of beers... it was only fitting with the reggae playing, to try a full pour of the hybrid ' Bob Barley', which is a blend of their flagship beer, Dabob Bay IPA and their Breidabik Barley wine, OMG!! A great surprise, very flavorful and not over the top.. well balanced, not heavy or high octane as expected, wishing it was available in bottles.. so good. Maybe next time I'll finally take the plunge and purchase a growler ( 64 oz, is a lot of one beer. Lol) but this was one worthy to take that plunge. Dangerously smooth. Looking forward to return visits, while checking out more of this area of the peninsula. So when you're in the area, whether checking out the gardens, forest, or casino, Hood River should be on your list of stops, if you enjoy great brews and friendly atmosphere. Great staff & great beers. Consistent & you always know what you're going to get. It can be a bit cold inside during the the fall/winter months but otherwise an excellent place for a beer. Light snacks are available and you're able to bring in your own food. Good place to unwind. read more

While in Kingston, my friends and I stopped into Hood Canal for a couple beers. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Hood Canal is the typical utilitarian brewery. Hood Canal doesn't have a kitchen; however, one can bring in their own food/snacks. Snacks are also available for purchase. We all had fun and enjoyed our beer tastings during our visit. Our server was relaxed, friendly and fun. We will definitely stop into Hood Canal the next time we're passing through Kingston. read more

Was driving by and saw the sign. We made a u-turn to check it out. We like trying new breweries when we travel. Brews are just okay. No snacks available when we went although I saw a sign that said food truck Fridays. We came on a Sunday afternoon. Dogs welcomed. Prices were very affordable. Glad we got to try a local spot. As far as new breweries go that I hit on my mini brewery tour last weekend I definitely enjoyed Hood Canal the best. They weren't very busy at all which was nice because this allowed the bartender to chat me up a little which was nice. It was personable. I got one beer here and enjoyed it quite a bit! Sometimes a good amber beer is just what hits the spot and that is what I got. This was a smoked kind which made the flavor of the beer quite enjoyable! I'd go back for another! read more

Hood Canal has a simple tasting room. Inside there are a few tables and a bar area. It's nothing fancy, but then again, why does it need to be? They have pretzels, but no real food. However, it's my understanding they have no problem if you bring some food in if you'd like to munch on. They have reasonable prices on samplers and pints. Their beers are pretty tasty and you can get growlers filled or buy some bottles. The staff was friendly and didn't mind us taking our sweet time to work our way through some brews. If you're not looking for a bar scene, but some good beers, try stopping by here! read more

Sweet Jebus, this brewery makes me happy! I had been looking forward for weeks to my first visit here and got lucky bellying up to the bar next to the owner/ brewer Don Wyatt!!!!! We yakked for half-an-hour! A laid back entrepreneur that has been at it for 14 years. Hood Canal Brewery is casual, honest and makes damn fine beer. Open 'till an unheard of 8pm. My favorite being the "Big Beef" oatmeal stout. The aroma and crackling flavor on the taste buds is unparalleled with fresh beer. It nearly brought a tear to my eye. I hope someday they expand to have a gastropub, but for now the tasting room will have to do. read more

Just a warehouse with a tiny tasting room, really. The day I stopped in, the owner Don was manning the taps, and since I was basically the only customer, we had plenty of time to chat. He didn't seem like a guy who got into the business because he likes people, though, which is unusual in my experience. For example, after tasting their Dosewallips Ale, I remarked on the nice floral hop aroma, and asked what kind of hops he used. "Really good ones" he replied. I smirked and said "okay then." It was bizarre for him to react this way, in my opinion - what, like I'm going to steal business from him? I'd already told him I was a homebrewer and a hop geek, so it should have seemed like merely a fan question. It was a really nice mild, light ale, though. I like the Dabob Bay IPA best, but none of the beers really knocked my socks off. read more

Cheers! For my 100th review I thought that I would raise a toast you and what better place to do so than at the best micro brew facility in Kitsap county. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in Germany at Oktoberfest sitting at a table shared with 19 other new BFFs (and complete strangers 15 minutes ago) where Heidi (who, by the way, is stunning in her traditional garb) puts in front of you a plate of Schnitzel and another fresh pint. Ahhhh. Now open your eyes. Sorry to say, it ain't happening here. No food and no music. Just when you are thinking that this has gone terribly wrong you remember the pint that is sitting in front of you and all is right! Seriously, you will not find food or a live band at this brewing facility but you will find an excellent selection of brews (6 all year and 1 seasonal all named after local landmarks). I suggest stopping by CB Nuts which is right down the road and bringing a bag or two in to enjoy while sampling the the offerings. Sometimes on weekends the local BBQ guy will set up his "pit on wheels" where you can pick up lunch (or just bring your own) to enjoy with your brew. Guten Zeiten! (I hope that means "Good Times") PS - I like the "Big Beef Stout" and the "Dosewallops Special Ale" at present but will work my way through the rest of them. read more

Stopped at the brewery to fill a couple growlers on our way to a camping trip around the Peninsula. Bartender was very friendly...while making small talk and telling her of our travels, she let me know that a hiking spot we mentioned would probably be closed due to wildfires, something we had not bothered to check into...so that was very helpful! Heck, she even gave our dog a couple biscuits as he impatiently waited outside with my husband. That's always a plus in my book! I usually tend to pass over amber microbrews because nothing really "wows" me. But Hood Canal's Agate Pass Amber was amazing! Nice and hoppy with a honey finish but not too sweet. Got a growler of amber as well as their IPA, which was also quite tasty. We will definitely be back to "fill up" before our next Olympic adventure!! read more

Not bad at all, although it's pretty hard to spot unless you're REALLY looking for it. The brewery is in what looks like a small airplane's hangar with a big garage door. I was able to get a small taster of whatever I wanted without having to pay a tasting fee, which I really appreciate. I could have paid a little bit and gotten a bit more of everything on tap, but I already don't know I don't like IPAs...which didn't leave many other options! Beer is all about taste and, in my experience, nobody can predict if you'll like it or not. Swing by, visit with the friendly staff, and support local breweries! read more

I stopped by the brewery on a pub run through the West Sound. It's too bad their beer wasn't any better. I thought overall the beer was okay. This is a warehouse brewery with a sectioned off tasting area. PARKING: They're located in an industrial warehouse setting. Plenty of parking is available. SERVICE: There is no table service here. You will have to go to the very friendly staff at the bar. The service/staff are super friendly and the regulars seem to have love for the place. FOOD: There is no kitchen here. But they do have a fridge with Crimson Cove goodies. Crimson Cove is a local smokehouse that does cheeses and salmon. Very yummy pairing for their beers. BEER: I wished there was more consistency in their beer. Most of their beer was okay. I found a couple of exceptions, one being a Barleywine that really turned out super-yummy. I would normally give a place like this 3 stars, but the exceptional service, a couple of darn good beers, and the Crimson Creek snackables will sway me comfortably in their favor. read more

Oh, how does it feel that I missed this place several times driving by this location on several occasions. Saw the sign, drove by, turned around. Good converstation, great beer. The IPA is excellent, and I walked away with a growler of the Special Ale. Bare bones tasting room with a bar and a few tables. Don't expect the Silverdale brewery scene. The beers are sold in several specialty shops, and pours in a few pubs around Puget Sound. This place is a great, local place. The logo and lable on the bottle tells it all - it shows mountains draped in forests with open water in the foreground. It is inspiring. They only sell beer and serve pretzels. You can bring your own food in the place. read more

No food but FREE PEANUTS!!! Nice selection of beer in a total industrial no frills setting. Only seats like 30 people so be prepared to meet your neighbors, who for us happened to be all friendly. I tried their Doppelbock last winter and LOVED it. The IPA is one of my favorites there. This is a good solid local brewpub. read more

rentable warehouse space with equipment, reefers, taps, and a bathroom. there are some lightweight tables and chairs, stools and a bar. they do take credit cards. they have their six mainstreams on, plus whichever seasonals. very friendly service, very uncrowded on a sunday afternoon. pretty easy to find, right off a state highway. nice easy place to grab some tasters or pints. beers are in much better shape here than on the east side of the sound. good experience. read more

I only had the chance to taste the Termination Point Imperial IPA, but the setup alone was enough for me become a fan. Don't misunderstand, my beer was delicious, but microbrews with good beer are cropping up all over the state so it takes a bit more than just good brew to earn high marks in my book. Hood Canal Brewery's tasting room is comfortable and the staff is friendly. The place is just an all around nice joint to hang out and play some cards or talk with friends over a few cold ones. As expected another pacific NW brewery with excellent IPAs. Dabob Bay IPA is excellent as is the Breidablik barley wine. I am partial to warehouse style breweries where you basically sit in the brewing are so I definitely like this place. read more
