Nice brewery on the edge of the touristy area of Kingston, but seems to be quite popular with locals. They have a good variety of beer styles (not just all IPAs!) plus some ciders and NA options.. Small open patio in the front plus a big covered patio in the back. Inside feels pretty roomy. They have some small snacks (think bag of chips) at the bar but other than that it's BYOF. Overall, I look forward to stopping here whenever I'm in Kingston. read more

Downpour brewing is easy walking distance from the ferry terminal and was the perfect ending to a fun day exploring Kingston and the surrounding areas. I was mildly surprised that they weren't packed on a Saturday evening, great selection of beers ( their own and some guest beers) and ciders, a great seating area inside and outside. A beautiful evening to chill on the patio with a cold Strata IPA with the string lighting lit up patio with TV's playing sports. Maybe because no local teams were playing, made for a light crowd? Service was friendly and quick to ask about another, before an empty glass. The Strata IPA was great, good strata hop flavor without being overly hoppy, I also tried the Made Marion cider.. a delicious Marion berry flavor. Definitely a great stop as you start your adventures or on the way back to the ferry. Good and plentiful seating for singles or groups. Cheers! read more

This is a great neighborhood brewery. The staff and patrons are always friendly. The beers are top notch too. They have a great outdoor space with a comfortable feel. It feels like Cheers. A great neighborhood brewery that's walking distance from the Kingston Ferry Terminal and our favorite Firehouse movie theater. We stopped in after a matinee at the Firehouse for a beer before heading home. It was pouring rain, so we chose a seat at a picnic table inside next to the Wall of Dogs, photos of all of the Downpour Doggies, who I assume, are welcome any time with their humans. On a sunny day we might grab burgers from The Grub Hut across the street and sit outside on the patio to enjoy good food, good weather and great beer. read more

Simple no-frills brewery, offering a mix between their own offerings and local beers from the PNW. Lots of choice on tap. Got indoor and outdoor sitting, on benches mostly indoor, and a few tables out. In the winter, they've got heaters that you can use, although it does get chilly nonetheless. Well, at the least your beer will stay cool. Do dress warm. If you are stuck waiting for the ferry, it's as good a place as any. If you're a local, why not give it a go. read more

Dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and affordable! Like most, we stopped by here before our ferry departure and so glad we did! There's free street parking right outside and you are greeted with a friendly smile from the moment you walk in. 4 of us had a flight each and all the beers were absolutely delicious. They REALLY love dogs are this brewery. If you ask, they'll take a Polaroid picture of your dog and add it to their wall of dogs! To add to its list of inclusiveness, there's even an area in the back with toys for your kids. They don't serve food, but are open to outside food. One of our group members simply crossed the street to get McDonald's and brought a large bag of goodies back. Highly recommend! read more

Great place to grab a good brew, they are on the way to the ferry (or as you leave YMMV). Give them a try, they have expanded the outdoor area to better keep people socially distant and safe. Help them survive the virus, they have growlers and Crowlers to go if you just want to stop on your way somewhere else. They might have a guest brewer tapped beer occasionally, and usually some great selections (2 usually) of hard Cider. read more

These guys have a fantastic location and a very cool space. Their logo is pretty cool, too. It's hard to believe just how close we're getting to every small town of any size at all having a brewery in this state--Kingston? Are these guys really big enough to sustain a brewery? Probably they are, especially with tourist traffic. You pass by this place on your way to and from the ferry; if you've noticed the golden arches at the top of the hill above the ferry dock, then you know where this place is. There must be a few thousand people a day who see these signs, with their distinctive falling barrels image. The building doesn't look huge, but there's plenty of taproom space. There's a small bar with a TV tuned to the game, a scattering of picnic tables, and a pretty cool outdoor seating area. It's a perfect spot for a new little brewery that wants to sell most of its beer in its own taproom--plenty of space for locals and passers-through to settle in. There could stand to be a little more parking out front, but there's plenty more nearby. You can practically walk straight into the brewhouse from the bar. It's a complete setup, but the system is small--only big enough to make a couple kegs at a time. That's probably OK, but it makes for a whole lot of brew days every month for your brewmaster, who likely might be the only employee of any kind here. I love little businesses like this, especially in this industry, but sometimes they just make ya feel the long hours the operators must endure to keep them running. I am certainly grateful. Aside from being a decent place to hang out and watch the game, you can get a steady variety of new-world ales here: pale, IPA, porter, stout, and so on. Beers everybody (for the most part) likes. They're still dialing up their system, as of summer 2015, so expect recipes and processes to change, with subtle improvements coming in most batches from here on out. The batches I've tried so far have been a bit of a mixed bag, but brand-new places almost always evolve quickly. You can get snacks here, and there are games and toys for the kids as well as the adults. The bathrooms are immaculate, and the whole place is clean, tidy, and well-lit. Looking forward to trying more of their beers in the future. read more

Downpour is a new brewery that has came on the scene and to my knowledge is the second brewery for Kingston. Parking in the front is pretty limiting but there is a nice, big lot in the back. Since we were on a mini brewery tour the day we went here we just got one beer. They had a great Hibiscus beer which was extremely refreshing! Atmosphere inside was very cute but was a bit hot. We found their patio and found a nice shaded corner which was perfect! Great beer for a summer day! read more

Nice brewery in the area. The inside is small-ish but with plenty of tables. They are also dog friendly. I had the nitro stout with vanilla which was very good. The beer wasn't too heavy and had a good vanilla flavor to it. You can tell this is definitely a place where the locals go, it seemed like a lot of people knew each other. Overall, I really liked the brewery and the beer if I were in the area I would stop by again. read more

I'm not even a beer drinker, and I love this place. Hubby, who is a beer drinker, loves it even more. It's a real neighborhood brew tasting room. They don't serve much else than beer (other than peanuts and such) and some days, you can get terrific pizza right out back. I don't even usually drink when I'm there (did I mention I don't like beer?) but I have tried some of the hard ciders and have been very pleased. I wished they served wine, but I understand that's not their thing, and would require a whole 'nother license (aren't our alcohol laws lame?) But, I enjoy hanging out with hubby and whoever else happens to be sitting at the bar, while supporting a lovely local family biz. We often stop here before walking down the block to a movie, or even before going to dinner somewhere else "downtown." Whenever I suggest it, hubby says, "You are too good to me." Actually was just driving past and decided to stop. Feeling lucky!! Tried their IPA, Pumpkin Ale, Downporter, and the Brown Velvet! Very good experience every time I'm in here. The beers I've tried have been really good. The atmosphere at downpour is even better. There is a strong sense of community. The place doesn't have food beyond lite snacks but offers Togo menus for other options near by. They have a fun game corner for kids in the back and there is a good vibe as a cool family environment. No one is getting over served or rowdy here. The decor is so darn cute inside and makes you feel very welcome. It's a perfect place to stop by for a drink after work and chat with a few locals before heading home. Highly recommend trying this place put. read more

Great beers, weird experience. We came in, not acknowledged by the staff. Sat at a table; ignored. About 5 minutes later, was told if we wanted service we had to come to the bar. We went to the bar. All of the beers are their own, local microbrews, and clearly we are new customers. They ask what we want; we ask them to tell us about their beer. They stare at us. No list of the beers with descriptions like a normal microbrewery. We ask very specific questions about specific products, and finally get some answers. Order beer and cider; GREAT! They do not mention that there is an entire outside area, with a wood fired pizza oven and 2 other employees making food! We order a pizza. I have a novel suggestion; I hope this isn't going to come as too much of a shock to the owners. 1. Pull your heads out of your asses, and realize you are in the customer service industry, not your garage anymore. 2. Greet people when they come in the door; new customers are future regulars if you treat them right. 3. Provide information. Ask of they've been in before, or have a sign that explains what is going on. You are NOT operating a normal restaurant, so you can't expect folks to just know what is located where, or where they need to go to get service. 4. Have a board or sheet with info on the current beers. If people ask about your beers, put some passion and energy into your response; SELL IT. Don't just look at customers with an apathetic hipster beer nerd blank stare. You have a good space, and great beer. You have a great partner with the pizza place out back; maybe mention that they exist to new customers? With a little "clean up" on how you treat your customers, you have great potential. read more
