My bf and I came here with an Amazon Local deal for their distillery tour Saturday afternoon. Wow, their vodka is delicious! Smooth, clean, strong. It had a unique finish that is indescribable. I love my vodka and am a huge fan of theirs. We moved onto the moonshine. This was my first time ever trying it and it tasted like whiskey! It was basically a white whiskey. We ended up buying a bottle of each because we liked it so much. This company is very meticulous and detailed as to how they make their liquor. We're huge fans and I highly, highly recommend everyone try their liquor. We also found out that they source 95% of their items locally! Local corn, local snacks, local everything :) We were told they sell their liquor at Metropolitan Market and Bev Mo's so if you're unable to come by to buy a bottle, go there. Down in the bowels of Sodo is this amazing distillery. Clean as a whistle and employees as chipper as chipmunks with a product to match.. how can one go wrong? You must note that because this is out of the way for a lot of Seattle folk, it is easy to miss and forget about. It is within a strip mall a few blocks past the stadiums. There's not a lot of excitement going on and if you're driving you're likely to whiz right by it without ever being the wiser. It is definitely worth a visit. Travis took us on a tour of the distillery, let us inhale toxic chemicals and showed us all the available products. They make some damn good stuff! Available was their vokda, bourbon whiskey, and even moonshine. Allow them to dispel all the horrible folklore of what moonshine actually is or is not. My first Yelp event. We had a tasting here and the host was very knowledgeable about whiskey, moonshine and all the good stuff. They started a couple of years ago here at this location. We had their vodka which tasted like moonshine to me, but to my wife, it tasted like tequila. We also had their moonshine, which was good and strong, not as bad as the other corn whiskeys we had, but it was strong. We had their bourbon as well and it had tasty oak notes to it. Their prices are what you would expect for the quality they bring to their customers. A cool spot. 2 Bar Spirits is awesome... and let me tell you why! Everyone... and I mean everyone... there is awesome! You will be greeted warmly when you arrive. And leave feeling like you are part of the 2 Bar family. If you get a chance to check out the "behind the scenes", the whole distilling process is pretty cool. The distillers are on hand to tell you all about it... The tasting room is great! They currently have vodka and moonshine to try (and bring home!) with gin and other spirits coming soon. The BF and I love this place! We have been to a few of their awesome events, like their Thanksgiving party. They had a band perform, Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving was projected onto the wall, there was pie (PIE! Who doesn't love pie!). I heard they had a mechanical bull at one of their other events (sadly, we missed that one!) I had the pleasure of going on a free tour of 2Bar Spirits recently with some fellow Yelpers, organized by Katy H. The owner named the distillery for his family ranch. It's small, squeaky clean, has a great story, and is a cool way to learn about how your liquor of choice (mine is bourbon) is made. I learned about the heads, hearts and tails of making the fine brown liquid, sniffed the pretty potent methane heads that they use as a cleaning product, and listened to details about the barrel char. Granted, I should have recorded the session because I don't remember enough! And we tasted - vodka, moonshine, bourbon. The bourbon was so smooth and lovely. I bought a bottle to give as a gift, but uh...I ended up gifting myself. I shared some, in the spirit of the holidays. Go check out this local distillery. Yeah it's not in the most happening location. But it's worth the trek. Ask questions, learn about how spirits are made. Take notes and then impress your friends with all that you know. And I bet when you sip that 2Bar bourbon (or vodka or moonshine) you will savor it even more, having learned about the intricacies of its creation. read more

A friend told me about 2bar and their delicious bourbon so I decided to give it a try. We went during tasting hours and happened to catch the distiller in production. Throughout the tasting he gave us a tour and explained the distillation process to us. This was the first distiller to explain to me the head, heart, and tails of the process. At the time the batch was at the end of the head and transitioning to the heart (the good stuff). We learned a lot during our visit and left with a bottle of bourbon. read more

I visited 2bar Spirits for a free tour and tasting through Yelp and had a great time. Their vodka is my favorite, with a distinct grainy taste that I really love. The moonshine is strong, honestly a little too strong for my taste, but I enjoyed getting to taste it. The bourbon is delicious. I learned so much about bourbon casks while on the tour that I actually don't really remember much of what they told me about their bourbon, but a lot about re-casking. Oops. Such a great place to visit! I love keeping things local and place truly impressed me. The staff was very knowledgeable, attentive and gave us an excellent tour. The alcohol tasting was part of a Groupon deal and was quite the steal if you ask me (tasting for two, two shot glasses & a delish cookie made at a locally bakery). It was so sweet to hear the stories of the family and how they got out to this area. Immediately following the tour I was contacted by the owner asking how the tour went, which I think is an added bonus. We've been hoarding our bourbon because it's something special. And we don't normally drink vodka but it was so good we actually bought a bottle! If you're looking for great tasting local liquor I would highly recommend 2 Bar spirits! read more

Truly as good as it gets! I feel like I've been doling out a lot of stellar reviews lately, but I blame it on using Yelp like a nut and choosing to check out places that are already highly rated. That being said, 2bar was a spot on my list that I'd heard only wonderful things about. I popped by and got a lovely tour of the space. It's not big (which is great if you want to stop in for 10 mins - 30 mins). There's a lot to see and learn about, too. I was really impressed with how clean and well organized the space was. More than that I loved learning the 2bar story. The owner of the distillery comes from a long line of ranchers who for generations have run a ranch named 2bar in TX. With that same work ethic, the same love for family history, and the same determination, 2bar (and the family name) has spread to the PNW and there are wonderful family photos in the distillery that people can see that show family members of the 2bar ranch to help tell the story and the history behind the name. It was this story that really sold me on the brand right away. I love knowing that there's a reason behind the name and that it's an homage to family history and family values. It just makes me feel proud that this is a Seattle based business and the faces and names behind the brand are genuinely kind, nice people who are striving to produce a great quality product. And then there's the sampling! I got to try all three spirits which are made primarily from WA grown ingredients. In fact, every single ingredient that goes into 2bar's three spirits (a bourbon, a moonshine, and a vodka) are all made in the PNW and are sourced within a 180 mile radius. When I was there I met a few other people who were also visiting and asking questions. Having not tried moonshine before, I was thrilled that someone else in our tour group had tried it many times and mentioned that it was among the best he'd ever had. A fan of brown spirits myself, I loved trying new things but did end up buying a bottle of the bourbon. I've tried it neat and with a dash of water and both ways it's really smooth and tasty. It has a chestnut finish (to me) and it reminds me a little of Stranahan's from Colorado. But better! I enjoyed the visit so much that I'll be looking out for 2bar in liquor stores and trying to support them. I'm also definitely planning to take friends and family here when they're in town. I want so badly to write an excellent review for this company, but due to the circumstances, I just can't. I had first emailed Nathan well in advance of our tour because I had seen a deal on Amazon Local for a "Private Distillary Tour for 2, tasting, dessert and shot glasses." My friend and I were going to be in Seattle around Christmas time and wanted to know if it would be possible to get a tour even though it was a weird time. He said sure and to contact him closer to the date I would like to have a tour. So, I bought the deal. The day of our tour, Nathan wasn't there because it was around the holidays (12/27/13) but one of his employees was there to give us a tour. The tour literally took about 10 minutes and that was only because my friend and I asked questions. If we had not asked any questions, I'd say it was about 5 minutes. The guy giving us the tour was nice! He answered all our questions. But, as it was later in the day it sort of felt like he wanted to leave so we felt rushed. My friend and I aren't spirits experts, so flying through all the info was a little over our heads. He didn't even really go into depth about the owner at all until I asked and even then the information was very vague. It was as if the mentality of the employee was "OK, I have to do this tour because it's part of my job, but I don't want to, I'd rather go home, I hope these girls don't have any more questions." We only got to try the Moonshine and the Vodka. Both of these were excellent! Incredibly smooth. The design and feel of the company really comes through. We also got the shot glasses. They didn't have any Bourbon left and there were no desserts as it stated on the Amazon Local deal. Paying $25 for a 5 minute tour and 2 samplings of alcohol, we felt jipped and now especially jipped because it seems through other reviews that tours are free. I try to go out of my way to support local, independent places, but it makes me a little sad when they don't want to serve the people who support them... kind of a bummer. I bought a t-shirt and some Moonshine for a friend because I, too, work for a small independent company and I know that any type of enthusiasm really boosts the morale of the company. As a suggestion: Nathan should be the one giving tours. If not Nathan, train the staff to be accommodating to ALL customers/clients who walk into the business even if it's 2 girls who don't know a whole lot about spirits. We were there to learn more. I am giving this business 2 stars, 1 more than I probably would have because of the overall genuine nice demeanor of the owner and because the actual products they produce are exceptional. I can tell the owner cares a lot about the business and his customers. But, I can't bring it up to more than that because what I paid for was not what I got. I like alcohol. 2bar Spirits makes alcohol. In addition to crafting, bottling, distributing, and selling their product, these fine folks will also give you a tour of their space and you will learn all of the awesome little details that go into creating a product that is quickly making a name for itself in the local bar scene. When you walk in, you will notice how everything is very clean and designed for maximum efficiency. This also holds true for each of the three types of liquor that they sell which includes vodka, bourbon, and moonshine. Each is very distinct and not quite what you would normally expect...and I mean that in the most complimentary fashion. If you have an opportunity, you should definitely stop in and say hello. Definitely take the tour while you're there. You not only get a fun learning experience, you will get to sample all three of their offerings, and, when its all over, you get to enjoy a delicious cookie which comes from a local bakery that I unfortunately can't remember the name of. OK, I looove local distilleries and good spirits! So the moment I spotted a bottle with a name "MOONSHINE" on a shelf of a friendly liquor store I knew I have to check it out. 2bar Spirit is a great place to visit. People are very friendly: they poured as nice samples of their vodka and "moonshine". These are the two products they are currently distilling. We also got a nice tour of the distillery with all the explanations. Vodka is really good and have a nice, slightly spicy (it contains rye) taste. The "moonshine" isn't actually a moonshine but unaged whiskey and has a slightly cognacky taste. I was really hoping for a treat of a nice 120-140 proof moonshine, but of well- I do not think many people would enjoy it and the friendly people of 2bar Spirits have to make some money... read more

Wow!!! This place is amazing!! Love that it's all local and that you can see from grain to bottle! We came here for a tour, Zach was our guide and he was great!! You can tell he loves what he does! Super informative and answered every question we could throw at him!! The tour was longer then planned but I blame us for all the questions we asked! Now on to the booze!! Moonshine and vodka so smooth!!! Loved the flavor of both! Was sad didn't have any of their bourbon but that just gives a reason to come back!!! Had no problem setting up our tour! I bought a LivingSocial deal for a tasting, tour, shot glasses, and dessert for my boyfriend's birthday. When I realized tastings are free and tours seemed to be as well, I feel like I may have paid a bit much. That said, I really enjoyed this place. They were out of their bourbon, but we were able taste the vodka and moonshine. I'm not the biggest fan of most hard liquor but I actually liked them both quite a bit. We bought a bottle of moonshine which will probably be consumed on NYE. The tour was cool; we got to hear about the entire distillation process and see and smell the different iterations. It was interesting hearing about the family backstory, too. The dessert was cookies from a local bakery, the name of which I forget, and they were pretty darn good for just being shortbread cookies. Great yelp event! So of course I cannot remember the guy's name that spoke to us about the incredible Vodka (my favorite), Moonshine and Bourbon. I believe his name was Nathan. Anywho, we sampled all three spirits and he spoke to us about how everything was distilled and the aging process. I have been to quite a few tours with my husband but this guy was very knowledgeable and explained things that the other distilleries do not explain. How the word spirit came along. 2bar is a winner for two reasons: good booze, good people. Making our way through the Sodo beer/wine/liquor makers, we made a point to hit 2bar as one of the few distilleries. We were not disappointed, each sampling was tasty and we left with a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of moonshine. We stopped by in the late afternoon on a Friday. We had the place to ourselves but for one of the distillers who was on broom duty. He talked us through all their offerings and gave us an impromptu behind-the-scenes tour. Good booze, good people. Located in Sodo. DIstillery has a parking lot and wasn't hard to find since there's a huge sign posted on the main road. Tasting room is quite small. Distillery offers 3 kinds of alcohol: Vodka, Moonshine, & Bourbon Whiskey. The tour was informative, was able to see and smell the "heads" & "tails" of the process. What a neat operation this group has! I love the Texas and country roots and love that the owner works it into their operations. The liquor is amazing, flavorful and smooth. Unfortunately they were running low on bourbon for tasting so I didn't get the pleasure to try it, even though we had bought a private tour on Livingsocial. They were also out of the souvenir shot glasses, but took down my email so I could come back to get them when they had a new shipment. I really wanted to try the bourbon but didn't want to buy it without having tried it. So we went with the moonshine which was so smooth. I really like the flavors in the vodka, definitely different but very drinkable and tasty. We had a good tour, learned about the different steps in the process, how the operation works and what they do with spent materials. We also learned about the barrels for bourbon and how the distilling process works. I really enjoyed our visit and learned a lot, but was disappointed about not being able to try the bourbon and having to return for our souvenir shot glass. read more

I went with my family after buying a groupon for a free tasting and tour. Though they were out of the free shot glasses, they promised to send us some when the next order arrives. The owner, Nathan, was incredibly gracious and our tour guide, Zack, gave a funny and informative tour. Fair warning: this is a small, one-room operation and is not particularly visually impressive. But, the real joy of visiting is to taste the three spirits (a vodka, a moonshine and a bourbon). My boyfriend, a real bourbon fanatic, said the bourbon was smooth and tasty, even compared to bourbons aged longer. I was partial to the vodka, which was very drinkable. read more

What a great company! I bought a Groupon for a tour as a Christmas gift to my husband. I wish we'd thought to email about scheduling sooner, but that was my fault, and it turned out fine in the end. The tour was interesting and informative. Maddie explained the whole process and I think I actually understand it. :) I wasn't a fan of the spirits myself, but my husband enjoyed the bourbon, so we purchased a bottle. The shot glasses they gave us are good quality (not cheap or thin) and the shortbread cookie at the end was a great touch. They'd run out of the bourbon so they actually went out and bought a bottle so we could sample it on our scheduled tour! They have quite an impressive system going on for a newish distillery. What a refreshing experience. A family business that truly does everything local. These folks source their grain from Washington State, they reclaimed their decor from local building recyclers. Their can do attitude and unique style are what entrepreneurship is about. If you enjoy spirits you simply must try this brand. It's available more and more around the area. Ask for it at a store or restaurant, or you can just visit their production facility and tasting room in SODO. I found their "moonshine' (technically clear whiskey) bright and tasty. We bought a living social deal for this place. It was 25 dollars - originally 50. The deal promised a tasting, tour, desert, etc. We were really disappointed. The tasting was what anyone would get when they went in there. The tour was in the adjoining room and took 5 minutes. The desert was a sugar cookie. We emailed the owner to complain and he did apologize and asked us what he could do to make it better. When we responded that he should credit us the amount that we spent he never responded. We are very disappointed with their business. It's too bad because we would have bought their vodka if they managed the place better. Do NOT ever buy a deal to this place! read more
