okay whiskeys. Owner is really nice and friendly. I wasnt too impressed by any of the tastings though. no. 1 and 2 were too light and flavorless for my taste, no. 3 was probably my preferred, no. 4 was not smooth - had a lott of bite to it but not in a good way. 5 was weirdly like rice and not my favorite when it hit at first but the flavor afterwards grew on me. very strange, but i can see why it would be some people's favorite.

I really like the vibe they are putting out here. Great atmosphere, all things considered. I'm giving them a 3 star because I think they need to revisit their pricing strategy. For context, I came during the Fremont oktober fest, #fokt, so I'm not sure if this is standard, but I paid $11 for a 6 oz cocktail. If I knew going in, I would've ordered a water, but I feel a little played by the situation.

The highest praise for this unexpected find. The whiskey tasting was quite enjoyable with Elsa, and Chef John Leon's dishes were of the highest quality. They were artistic, full of flavor and made with a lot of love and fresh herbs from their hanging garden. We had the beet pickled deviled eggs, the smoked salmon grilled cheese, the burrata tartine and the smoked pork sliders. We finished the meal with the peanut butter mousse and strawberry compote dessert in a tart shell. We washed it down with the Strawberry Negroni. It had layers of flavor. The distillery doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a whole different world on the other side of the gate. Don't miss this gem. It's a wonderful way to pass the day in Fremont. Our waitress, Sophia, was attentive, knowledgeable and the sweetest. Well done, Fremont.

Got lost in the neighborhood looking for something to eat and wondered in early on a Saturday evening. Glad we did. Place was all decked out for Halloween, which my wife and I loved. Drinks were wonderful, I had a Blackberry Sour, am partial to whiskey cocktails as of late and this was a nice play on a whiskey sour. Wife had the Huckleberry and thyme shrub mock-tail, both were delicious. Had the grilled cheese with smoked salmon. Which was decadent and delicious. It comes with a side of tomato jam which was a nice condiment to go with it. A bit like a mini side tomato soup. A perfect complement. Wife had the seafood chowder. She was so happy that it doesn't have bacon in it. She doesn't eat red meat and so many places put bacon in their chowder. She let me try it and it was delicious too. The Huckleberry cheese cake was so good too, very creamy. It was more like a no bake cheese cake it was more moist than many baked versions I've had. I love a cheese cake and am a purist that prefers them plain but even with the Huckleberry it was a solid cheese cake. I was, kind of, in costume, it was the weekend before Halloween, and the owner came by to chat with us and let us know they hosted a costume party for Halloween the night before and do the place up for Christmas too. It was a happy accident we ended up here. We'll be back.

Great spirits and amazing cocktails! We will definitely be returning for ourselves and with friends! It's a nice walk from Fremont Brewery and worth the trip

I stopped by here for the noble reason that I saw the words "whiskey" and "tasting room" on a lazy Thursday afternoon while walking to my car after a haircut, so basically stopped by on a whim. Helana was my bartender and server, and was just the nicest and most helpful person. She served me perhaps the best Old Fashioned I've ever had, and along with a supremely delicious whiskey sour. Since I was drinking, why not have some house made yummy pickles and tasty sliders? I couldn't think of a good reason not to, so did, and they were fabulous! And all the while all the staff was friendly, and the tables socially safe and the view/setting beautiful. I'll be back!! And thank you to Helana for great recommendations and conversation!!

Only been to the new restaurant area once and was very impressed. Cocktails were amazing of course, and snacks were tasty as heck. Our waitress wore a Seahawks beanie and was outrageously awesome and funny

Super tasty! We liked the vibe and the drinks. Sat on the rooftop, I ordered a whisky sour and he ordered a whisky flight (they accidentally brought him a Manhattan flight, which he was disappointed about but never ended up saying anything, I think he enjoyed the Manhattans anyway, I thought they were good).

Great place to stop in if looking to try some different types of whiskey or looking for a fun stop in Fremont. They also have tastings of other spirts as well if you are into others. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful to how each type is made. Loved all their whiskeys but ended up buying their barrel aged gin which provided a different take on traditional gin

We stopped in for a visit and Paul took care of us, and I've got to say, he made the whole thing feel like we were getting a private tour from someone who lives and breathes the craft. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and answered every question we tossed his way without ever making it feel like a lecture. We ordered a couple of flights, and the best part was being able to mix and blend different whiskey styles ourselves. It wasn't just "sip and move on", we actually got to play with flavor, compare notes, and build our own combinations. That alone made the visit memorable, but the whiskey itself sealed the deal. Rich and full of character, every pour had something interesting to say. What we appreciated most was that we never felt rushed. We were given time to explore, talk through the flavors, enjoy the moment, and just be there. It's rare to find a place where the experience feels personal and unrushed, and Copperworks nailed it. If you're in Seattle and want something unique, educational, and delicious, visit here. Sit down, take your time, and let the whiskey do the talking.

Founded in 2010, Westland Distillery (located in SODO [SOuth of DOwntown], a neighborhood in…read moreSeattle's industrial district) is a leader in the American single malt whiskey scene. Its Garryana Edition 8 was ranked #3 in Whiskey Advocate's list of 'Most Exciting Whiskey's of 2023'. My wife and I had a chance to visit SODO on a gorgeous October day, and even though we couldn't take their sold-out distillery tour ($25 per adult), still had a wonderful time sampling their wares and enjoying the educational interaction with their whiskey enthusiasts/employees. Westland got acquired by Remy-Cointreau [French company; 3rd largest cognac distiller in the world; created as union between Remy-Martin (founded in 1724) and Cointreau (1849)]. It's MO is to use ingredients from the Pacific Northwest (barley, water, peat), and with its similar cool maritime climate, produce Scotch-like whiskeys (only whiskey from Scotland can be called Scotch, though Scotch doesn't have to be ONLY malted barley). American single malt is now an official US legal classification (since Jan 19, 2025). 'Single' refers to one distillery producing the bottle, and 'Malt' meaning it only uses malted barley as its grain. (The most popular American whiskey is bourbon, mostly made of corn and aged similarly). BG and Trista were our whiskey guides, both knowledgeable and friendly. The lounge had a variety of seating, designed for easy conversation and sipping. A whiskey flight ($13.60, $10 off with purchase) consists of 4 choices (out of 8 offered), so we shared two flights to get the full effect. Getting nibbling snacks [La Panzanella crackers ($5) with Beecher's cheese curds ($12)] that went well with the whiskeys, was a smart choice. Flagship (92 proof) Beer Cast (92) Wine Cast (92) Coleve 4 (100) Garryana 9 (100) Garryana 7 (100) 7862 (106.6) Solum 3 (100) To my pleasant surprise, my wife got really into it, sipping/tasting right along with me. We were able to get 4 (tasting) sips per UK dram. My favorite was the 7862, and my wife's was the Wine Cast (which was Trista's favorite as well). The Flagship is the most popular, and readily available at retail stores. The Solum (8 - 12 ppm) is their peated whiskey, and I couldn't discern the peat (as opposed to something like Laphroaig 10 which has 5 - 10 ppm). As it usually occurs (and supposed to happen), the really enjoyable experience got me to buy (and pay retail price) some of their product to take home. BG did mention that some of their product was sold in California (similar price but far lower tax), and did find their flagship product in liquor stores in Long Beach (also sold in Amazon Fresh stores). I ended up getting a 700ml of their available single cast program (No 7862), aged 9 years for $99, and a 375ml Flagship ($39.99) for my son-in-law. We had come right when the lounge opened, so there still wasn't anybody else there when we left about an hour later. I know that American distilleries are having a tougher time in this political climate while our friendly neighbors up North are shunning American spirits. Nice to support, especially when the product and service are this good. Notes: -- Taxes for retail sold spirits are very high in WA state. 20.5% sales tax and $3.77 per liter tax. -- Phenol parts per million (PPM) are used to measure 'peatiness' in whiskey. Peat (partially decayed plant matter) is used as fuel to roast the malted barley. -- Love the fact that Seattle's climate matches Scotland. When we took a tour of the Nikka distillery in Japan, we learned similar things. It's definitely about it's sense of place (water, type of wood barrel, maturation process). And it was cool that the founders (Nikka, Westland) lived in Scotland to get educated in the process.

They have a beautiful facility and the tasting room was filled with souvenirs from shirts, jackets, flasks, glasses and all of them looked top-notch. Loved to buy a baseball cap, but my head is 61cm and I must have the velcro closure as the plastic snap hats are just too small & cheap for me. They have a counter bar area strategicly set with no chairs where it's comfortable for four 1/4 to 1/2 oz taste, but you don't get too comfortable. The hostess was pleasant, inviting and we honestly enjoyed reviewing the menu of +10 different whiskeys where we need to pick out 4 of them for the standard flight. They had a cross section of proofs between bourbons and ryes with a premixed old fashioned that was made by aging in maple syrup barrels. My wife went for ryes and i did the bourbons. I started with the 80 proof then navigated toward the highlight of the 115-proof. I was pleasantly impressed how drinkable without the burn going down was the 115-proof as it benefits from a sweeter, corn-forward base + cooler aging that results in better integration and less aggressive burn -- it "drinks easier" than the numbers would suggest. Of course, try what you can and it's great when you can share tastes between 2 people all the choices. For me, I found the cast strength aged 6 years 115 proof to be the best.
