Had an incredible time at Copperworks in downtown Seattle. I got to try their spirits in a great liquor tasting they offer, as well as a tour where they make their spirits onsite. Really cool and knowledgeable staff made us feel welcome. The liquors were very fun to try, and the whiskies were my favorite. I took it to the next level and did their "hand-fill experience" where you fill your own bottle of cask strength whiskey straight from the barrel. It was delicious, strong, and a tremendous memory that I'll treasure.

They have great whiskey. We were in recently to buy a bottle as a gift for a friend. The service was very friendly and he walked us through different options and helped us make a selection. We ended up buying the Farmsmith.

Found out about this distillery in downtown. It has a good location close to the Great Wheel. Copperworks is one of the local distilleries around. Has a tasting room with single pours, or flights. The selection is kind of limited, but what you get is high quality. A pretty good variety to choose from. It's distilled here next to the tasting room. They make gin, vodka, and whiskey. Has a few long tables inside. It's about $5 to get a pour. We had several, including the Single Cask Whiskey. Good stuff, and hard without being too strong. There's also entire bottles for sale if you want more than a sample of these. Cool location to get some freshly made booze. It's on Alaskan Way at University Street. They're open daily, but close pretty early in the evenings, even on weekends.

Copperworks is a cool, small distillery and tasting room. I dropped by for a tour (but you should def buy online in case they close early). Paul was my server and he was very nice! Laurie was the tour guide and she was super knowledgeable. I enjoyed the tastings, they make whiskey, gin, and vodka.

I am always up for a nice distillery visit and Cooperworks tour did not disappoint. The distillery is located near Pike St Market where they have a unique approach to making their hard liquors where they use their barley based Beer in lieu of a more traditional mash bill in making their base whiskey. Whiskey produced from this unique process is a tad sweeter from this approach and offers some very nice and subtle tasting notes from a more traditional process. From this the Gin and vodkas are distilled from the base whiskey resulting in more noticeable and flavorful notes that shine through more noticeabley than the whiskey. The Gin and Vodka in particular stood out to me where drinking them neat was quite enjoyable. Relative to the facility it was clean and modern with a very inviting bar area where the the stills are visible From the bar through clear glass windows. The tour, which I highly recommend, allows you to get up close to these copper beauties that were hand formed in Scottland. Truly a work of art in my opinion and have to be seen to be appreciated. The staff is quite friendly and very knowledgeable on their products and process and give an in depth explanation of the process and equipment that I found to be very informative and fascinating. Following the tour, you sample there products in the barrel room where all the base liquors are sampled with nice size pours, some repours and if you are very lucky, and we were, you can sample some of their unique barrel whiskeys that were used in other types of liquors. Along these lines, one of the whiskeys we tried was aged in a 200 year old Port barrel. VERRRRY NICE! May I have another please (: Overall if you are a fan of whiskey and/or love distillery tours than this is an experience not to be missed. You will not be disappointed!

Cute place right across the street from the aquarium. Service was great. It was nice to learn about how they make their products. My fave was their vodka. Check them out!

Loved the ambiance of this place. Very laid back and casual. The service was great. We ordered the bourbon flight and the gin flight. My favorite gin was the plum gin. Everything else wasn't my speed BUT this is still a great place to try if you're in the area.

We wandered in sort of by accident. We saw their sandwich board sign for tastings and tours and decided "what the heck! Let's see what this is all about!" We were not disappoint. We enjoyed their whiskey tasting, and got a great lesson on the distillary process. Our service was so friendly and accommodating. We felt like we were the only and most important people in Copperworks that day! It's definitely worth a drop in and a purchase!

$15 dollars will get you an amazing taste of three whiskeys. Each whiskey comes from a bottle worth $60-$100+ dollars. The water dropper allows to "open" up the flavors. The vibe here is super chill and friendly despite offering high quality and top shelf whisky. Not pretentious at all. If you're in the Emerald city and find this spot open, do it!! Taste the delicious flavors. Be careful, it's high octane and addictive.

Stopped in with the intent on buying a bottle and bringing it back with me to Cali. Found out a flight is comped if you buy a bottle. Also found out, if you get it shipped, it's tax free from the outrageous Seattle spirit tax. It gets better, if you spend over a certain amount (2 bottles) it's free fedex shipping to Cali. Also, every bottle you buy, a flight it comped. So left after two free flights, two bottles on its way and a really good nightcap! Their Gin and Whiskey is really good. Also, their vodka is decent as well. Highly recommend!

Stopped here after going to the Seattle Aquarium. Had the gin whiskey and vodka flight. The bartender gentleman was very friendly and provided us information about Seattle. The flight was very good. Came during the tourist off-season so wasn't jam-packed. Thought this was of the best places we visited.

If you have an hour to kill this place is right next to pikes market. Cool little tasting room. Can get A flight of whiskey or buy a bottle. The flight I got was tasty with 2 cask strength whiskeys and a sherried whiskey. They were all pretty good!

Founded in 2010, Westland Distillery (located in SODO [SOuth of DOwntown], a neighborhood in…read moreSeattle's industrial district) is a leader in the American single malt whiskey scene. Its Garryana Edition 8 was ranked #3 in Whiskey Advocate's list of 'Most Exciting Whiskey's of 2023'. My wife and I had a chance to visit SODO on a gorgeous October day, and even though we couldn't take their sold-out distillery tour ($25 per adult), still had a wonderful time sampling their wares and enjoying the educational interaction with their whiskey enthusiasts/employees. Westland got acquired by Remy-Cointreau [French company; 3rd largest cognac distiller in the world; created as union between Remy-Martin (founded in 1724) and Cointreau (1849)]. It's MO is to use ingredients from the Pacific Northwest (barley, water, peat), and with its similar cool maritime climate, produce Scotch-like whiskeys (only whiskey from Scotland can be called Scotch, though Scotch doesn't have to be ONLY malted barley). American single malt is now an official US legal classification (since Jan 19, 2025). 'Single' refers to one distillery producing the bottle, and 'Malt' meaning it only uses malted barley as its grain. (The most popular American whiskey is bourbon, mostly made of corn and aged similarly). BG and Trista were our whiskey guides, both knowledgeable and friendly. The lounge had a variety of seating, designed for easy conversation and sipping. A whiskey flight ($13.60, $10 off with purchase) consists of 4 choices (out of 8 offered), so we shared two flights to get the full effect. Getting nibbling snacks [La Panzanella crackers ($5) with Beecher's cheese curds ($12)] that went well with the whiskeys, was a smart choice. Flagship (92 proof) Beer Cast (92) Wine Cast (92) Coleve 4 (100) Garryana 9 (100) Garryana 7 (100) 7862 (106.6) Solum 3 (100) To my pleasant surprise, my wife got really into it, sipping/tasting right along with me. We were able to get 4 (tasting) sips per UK dram. My favorite was the 7862, and my wife's was the Wine Cast (which was Trista's favorite as well). The Flagship is the most popular, and readily available at retail stores. The Solum (8 - 12 ppm) is their peated whiskey, and I couldn't discern the peat (as opposed to something like Laphroaig 10 which has 5 - 10 ppm). As it usually occurs (and supposed to happen), the really enjoyable experience got me to buy (and pay retail price) some of their product to take home. BG did mention that some of their product was sold in California (similar price but far lower tax), and did find their flagship product in liquor stores in Long Beach (also sold in Amazon Fresh stores). I ended up getting a 700ml of their available single cast program (No 7862), aged 9 years for $99, and a 375ml Flagship ($39.99) for my son-in-law. We had come right when the lounge opened, so there still wasn't anybody else there when we left about an hour later. I know that American distilleries are having a tougher time in this political climate while our friendly neighbors up North are shunning American spirits. Nice to support, especially when the product and service are this good. Notes: -- Taxes for retail sold spirits are very high in WA state. 20.5% sales tax and $3.77 per liter tax. -- Phenol parts per million (PPM) are used to measure 'peatiness' in whiskey. Peat (partially decayed plant matter) is used as fuel to roast the malted barley. -- Love the fact that Seattle's climate matches Scotland. When we took a tour of the Nikka distillery in Japan, we learned similar things. It's definitely about it's sense of place (water, type of wood barrel, maturation process). And it was cool that the founders (Nikka, Westland) lived in Scotland to get educated in the process.

Loved to buy a baseball cap, but my head is 61cm and I must have the velcro closure as the plastic snap hats are just too small & cheap for me. They have a counter bar area strategicly set with no chairs where it's comfortable for four 1/4 to 1/2 oz taste, but you don't get too comfortable. The hostess was pleasant, inviting and we honestly enjoyed reviewing the menu of +10 different whiskeys where we need to pick out 4 of them for the standard flight. They had a cross section of proofs between bourbons and ryes with a premixed old fashioned that was made by aging in maple syrup barrels. My wife went for ryes and i did the bourbons. I started with the 80 proof then navigated toward the highlight of the 115-proof. I was pleasantly impressed how drinkable without the burn going down was the 115-proof as it benefits from a sweeter, corn-forward base + cooler aging that results in better integration and less aggressive burn -- it "drinks easier" than the numbers would suggest. Of course, try what you can and it's great when you can share tastes between 2 people all the choices. For me, I found the cast strength aged 6 years 115 proof to be the best.
